Just like mentioned above, it is important to read about some basic history about Witchcraft’s risings and downfalls. Sorcery existed (and exists) in many different cultures around the world and luckily now, we can get inspired by many of them and adapt their rituals, tools and methods according to our personal beliefs and needs. 

A History of Witchcraft: Sorcerers, Heretics, & Pagans

Contains quick but sufficient unbiased information about The Craft in not just Europe, but countries like Africa and America as well. With history that was obviously thoroughly researched, the book begins as far back as written history can reach and reaches as far forward as present days. 

Power of the Witch: The Earth, the Moon, and the Magical Path to Enlightenment

Coming from a famous craft educator, it shows how Witchcraft is both science and religion. It is a commonly recommended book and it is so detailed that it even provides information like a witch’s holidays and much more.

Witch: Unleashed. Untamed. Unapologetic.

Third generation hereditary witch explains the history behind witchcraft, why identifying as a healer in past centuries led women to be burned at the stake, and why the witch is reawakening in women across the world today.

When working with various spirits/Deities etc. in your practice be cognizant of what you are up to and don’t mix and match.  Keeps things and pantheons separate.  Also, when putting out offerings, make sure they are specific to the system that each particular spirit is from.  Also, some historical research is always good, preferably from the local library, the local university library is even better.  Make sure to think of these beings as more than spell components or correspondences.  These tables of correspondences has far too many people working with various Deities from all over the world, using a modern Western magick perspective and methods.  This is cheapening the Gods!  Not that the Gods necessarily care about one person and their approach, but as a practitioner trying to build a connection and get work done, we might ;).
