The day was growing hot and although it didn’t bother Liel much one way or the other. He knew that it wouldn’t be the same for the woman that had been left laying out in the sun by the locals. She was bound at her ankles and her hands behind her back on a carpet of heavily fragrant flowers. Offerings of jewelry and fine cloth and other valuables surrounded the woman. 

For the life of him, Liel couldn’t figure out what the display was for. He was very much aware of how uncomfortable it could be to wake up with a stranger by your side. Warily, Liel cautiously “poked” the woman’s mind to wakefulness and felt how sluggish it was in responding. She’d been drugged before being laid out. Why?
