Arachnophobia: A bedrock edition mod

Hunstman spiders are active predators which spawn the same areas as wolf spiders (vanilla spiders) at a slightly less common rate. They behave mostly the same as wolf spiders, but are much faster and vary in size, larger huntsman spiders are more common in warmer climates.

Cellar spiders (also known as daddy longlegs) are common cave dwellers that solemn move unless disturbed. Upon spawning they will seek out or build a web and lie perfectly still until another mob touches it. Their venom isn't lethal, but beware that they can easily trap you in silk if you don't pay attention to where you're going.

The vinegaroon is a strange arachnid resembling a cross between a spider and a scorpion, they spawn in swamps and jungles in the dark. Vinegaroons are not venomous, but instead have the ability to spray acid projectiles from their abdomen. Real life vinegaroon acid is akin to vinegar (hence their name), but arachnophobia's vinegaroon sprays hydrochloric acid instead, and it can destroy some blocks.

Jumping spiders are commonly found in densely wooded biomes and are typically docile to players. Though they have very little health, they hit hard for their size and are quite agile, they also specialize in hunting other spiders and deal twice as much damage to arachnids. Jumping spiders can be tamed by giving them spider eyes, they can sit on your head and will immediately pounce on any threat. Like frogs, jumping spiders have three variants based on the climate they spawn in.

Whip spiders are cave dwelling arachnids which are not venomous, but they hit hard and they are absurdly fast. Whip spiders are highly aggressive and cannibalistic towards their own kind, but only sometime attack players unprovoked, every once in a while one will run up and punch you, launching you tens of blocks away. If a hostile mob is nearby, the whip spider will wave its "antennae", and will wave them more intensely if a particularly dangerous mob is near, just remember that the mob only has to be a potential threat to the whip spider, so it'll warn you if there's something less dangerous to players such as an iron golem.

The harvestman (also called the daddy longlegs, a title it shares with the cellar spider) is a harmless omnivore arachnid that spawns in roofed forests and redwoods. Harvestmen can be mounted if you feed them a poisonous potato, and controlled with a special item. If a predatory arachnid is nearby, the harvestman will panic and flee, becoming incredibly fast when mounted.

Neith is a powerful boss which can be summoned using a special eye rarely dropped by spiders, and alternates between melee, ranged and AOE attacks, and has the ability to control spiders. If you defeat Neith, she will reward you with a special armor which can be infused with the shed exoskeleton of an arachnid to gain their abilities, receiving both a buff and debuff (e.g. jumping spider armor allows you to jump super far, but it also makes you tiny).

The tarantula is a huge spider that sometimes spawns in caves above y coordinate 45 and cannot be controlled by neith, as she considers them to be heathens. Tarantulas are territorial and solemn go far from their home, and prefer to hunt at night. They will attack any other mob and will defend their territory fiercely from other tarantulas, once it's day they retreat to their caves, their aggro radius is halved and they will warn you before attacking.

One of serveral non-arachnids in the mod, moths are flying insects which commonly spawn at night in most overworld biomes and have a variety of biome specific variants, are frequently preyed upon by arachnids, especially web spiders such as the daddy longlegs. Moths are harmless although some variants are poisonous (they inflict debuffs if you hit them, but don't actually fight back), and will start to slowly die if they exist in the world for too long. Moths will often fly towards länterns, and will follow you if you hold one, they also have a rare chance to drop their wings which can be equipped.

The wolf spider is literally just the vanilla minecraft spider, but remodeled. It's behavior has not been altered in any way.

Like the wolf spider, the redback spider is the vanilla cave spider but redesigned.

Emperor scorpions can be found in tropical biomes at night. They are not very fast, but are large and powerful and can use their shield-like pincers to deflect attacks.

Deathstalkers are scorpions that spawn in arid biomes at night, especially in deserts. They are much smaller and weaker than emperors, but possess deadly venom.

A massive semi-aquatic arachnid, the thunder scorpion is a force to be reckoned with. Thunder scorpions do not spawn naturally, and instead are found in a similar way to the sniffer, since like the sniffer it is also an extinct prehistoric species.

Thunder scorpions can be raised and will be docile towards whoever raises them, but to anything and anyone else they can become aggressive, they start out very small and grow very slowly, but over a long time will continue to grow and become an eventually unstoppable killing machine. The modern day atmosphere is much different from that of the thunder scorpion's original time period, meaning that fully grown thunder scorpions slowly grow weaker until they inevitably die.

My fics were plagiarized! A timeline and update

Hello Pilgrimage folks and non-Pilgrimage folks,

It's been less than week since I learned that someone plagiarized my Pilgrimage fanfics and published them as their own, but that's an eternity in Internet time and quite a lot has happened since Sunday, so I figured I should post an update of some sort.

How did you learn about this in the first place?

On Sunday, a very kind reader commented on my fic An Invitation to Happiness asking if I'd published it as an original novel, because, if not, an ebook they were reading, The Beauty and His Beast by Layla Moran, was extremely similar. I went to the ebook's Goodreads page, read the summary, and thought, "Well, there are similarities, but--" and then I scrolled down to look at the reviews and saw that people were describing exact scenes from my fic.

I went to Layla Moran's author page on Goodreads and immediately recognized two more titles, The Rancher's Mail-Order Husband and The Warrior and the Monk, as my two other multi-chapter Pilgrimage fics, Bluebells and Daylillies and Wild Roses Running Rampant, and how rich the earth, how bright the stars. My heart dropped--those three ebooks were some of her most recent "works" and they'd been published over the course of the last few months. The Warrior and the Monk was the first of mine she took; its publication date was listed as December 1, 2024.

What did you do next?

I panicked, and proceeded to tell my friends and fellow Pilgrimage fans what I'd found, and, while I floundered, they all immediately rallied around me. We started reporting the plagiarized works and stating that they were plagiarized in reviews. Someone found Layla Moran's Reddit username and posts that she made on the subreddit MM_RomanceBooks, which prompted me to start writing my own post with the thought that, whether or not we could get the ebooks removed, I could at least show readers in the community that her works were plagiarized so the word would get out and others would be dissuaded from buying them.

How did that work out?

Great, eventually. As stated in the eventual Reddit post, I don't have much social media at all. I write fic, I post it on AO3, and I'm here on Tumblr, mostly reblogging stuff but occasionally letting Pilgrimage fans know when I've posted another Pilgrimage fic. I tried to make a Reddit account and kept getting error messages, which only made me more frustrated and stressed. I was really certain that if I could just show a wider audience these example comparisons of Layla Moran's "books" to my fics, then things would be okay! My friend @pilgrimagesource, who had by that time already made a Tumblr post about the situation, also made a Reddit account so that she could share the post I'd written on my behalf.

Except that new Reddit users need a certain amount of karma before they can start creating posts of their own! More frustration and stress ensued! Pilgrimagesource proceeded to comment on any Layla Moran-related topic she could find and promptly got her comments deleted as spam because, well. It was the definition of spamming. But, the mods were extremely kind and had looked at the evidence and allowed her to finally make the post.

What happened next?

It gained a lot of traction very, very fast, and while I had been focused on my own works, people quickly realized that Layla Moran also published works under the name Rey Luca, and that nearly all of the ebooks from Layla Moran/Rey Luca were plagiarized from other fanfic authors from a wide variety of fandoms.

Other Pilgrimage folks informed their writing and fandom communities to spread the word. Another friend of mine created a spreadsheet to keep track of the ebooks, their corresponding fics and their real authors and fandoms, and whether or not the ebooks had been removed or not. The situation was extremely shitty, but I can honestly say I found it very heart-warming to see everyone working together to make sure that the real authors were identified and informed as well as leaving reviews and submitting reports.

And?

And that was my entire Sunday, essentially. I went to bed exhausted. The next morning I took a walk with a friend before heading to work--because writing is currently a hobby for me, and I don't make any money from it, and I have a full-time job to pay the bills! However, just before my shift started, I saw that books were disappearing from Layla Moran's Amazon and Goodreads pages, that the Reddit and Tumblr post had gotten huge, and that more people had found out their works had been stolen and were just as shocked and disheartened as I was. But it'd only been one day! Progress was being made!

Alright, so what now?

Now it's Friday and--well. I'm not really sure. On my end, Audible still has the audiobook for The Warrior and the Monk up for preorder (and it's set to be released on July 1), but I know that Tantor Media, the publisher, does not seem to have it listed on their site anymore. The page for the audiobook is now blank, and searching for Layla Moran's name on the site brings up no results. Her author bio page can still be found with some extra digging, but The Warrior and the Monk is not listed. The ebooks were all self-published on Kindle Unlimited; I suspect because the audiobook involved an actual publisher and involved a contract of some sort, it will take longer for everything to get taken down across all websites. I will be keeping an eye on it, though.

Currently, there are still some books on Layla Moran's Amazon page, perhaps because they were printed instead of just ebooks? I'm unsure how that works. On the other hand, Rey Luca's Amazon page seems to have been taken down, but there are quite a few more books still listed on the Goodreads page, though most of the reviews now state that they are based on stolen works and list the Reddit or Tumblr post or link the original fic.

What are you going to do about your own fics?

Nothing.

All of my fics were and are written for my own enjoyment, and for the enjoyment of those who read them. In the past few years there's been a lot of discussion about AI scraping and locking fics to prevent them from being used to train AI, but, from what it seems here, that doesn't stop someone from joining AO3, copy-pasting an entire work into a document, using the find/replace tool, and then using AI to rearrange some of words or add a few more paragraphs and then publishing it and passing it off as their own.

So, that sucks, and will always be in the back of my mind now. But at the same time, I think the reason I found all this out, and what might have been a factor in how those three initial ebooks were pulled so quickly, is because my fics are posted publicly for anyone to read. The evidence was really obvious when the ebooks were compared with my fics.

A lot of people commented that, at the very least, this proves that my writing could get published. That was also a sort of silver lining because--I think like many fic writers--one day I would like to be a published author. However, if I ever get something published it will be an original work. I will never edit and republish any of my long-form fics as novels because they weren't written with that goal in mind.

I write fics because I love the source material so much that I want to play around with the characters and the themes and create alternate universes and--just have fun. And I like sharing that with others; if someone reads one of my fics and likes it and it makes their day a little better, then I'm happy. And that's why my fics will continue to be available for anyone to read for free!

I have updated my AO3 profile to basically say all this, with the addition that I allow translations and podfics so long as you as ask and send me a link when you're finished.

Our The Terror February Flash 2025 collection is now officially closed for posting. (The very few WIPs among the works can still be completed, and we are in fact asking our WIP-writers to please, please really do this soon. Picture main mod Sir Boaty McBoatface with a very stern look on his face, one eyebrow raised, and his muttonchops twitching nervously. You don't want to make Sir Boaty sad, right?)

117 prompts spawned 90 works (some were multiple fills of the same prompt), both art and fic. 203,712 words were written for this event. 48 claims stayed unposted (which might seem like a lot, but it's really not bad); the unposted claims will be removed (otherwise the claimer might stumble over the ticky box on the posting form when publishing an unrelated new work on the AO3 in the future). All prompts will, of course, stay visible, even these which were left unfilled. Prompters are welcome to resubmit their prompts in the next February Flash. Or even sooner: in The Terror Advent Calendar @theterroradvent (stay tuned for the announcement in autumn).

24 creators revealed themselves for 63 works. 27 works stayed anonymous (which also means we do not know how many creators are behind these 27 works). Basically what the title states, I thought it be pretty interesting if we aged up the WoL characters for them to be competing in a semi-pro league in a lil canon divergent story! :D

Buuuuuut there’s a problem. Odo, the league owner, after a devastating championship loss decides to divide the team in two. Pickles (most of the ones we know and love, the ones that chose legacy over going pro) and the new mustards (SOME of the pickles will go over here. Setting the stage for some conflict between teams. The ones ACTUALLY going pro- 😭). In the midst of all of this mess, Rochelle, the teams catcher, decides to try and bridge the team like they once were!

Hello, and welcome to the Tumblr blog of The Daily Planet, based in Metropolis, home of Superman! Our editors have decided to expand our posts to Tumblr in order to reach a wider audience and bring the news to the most people possible. You can expect all of our articles, usually posted on our website and printed in our daily newspaper, to be cross-posted here. Said articles will cover everything from the normal occurances in Metropolis, to the lives of celebrities, and even the recent exploits of our beloved superheroes.

Our main headquarters is located at 2525 Broadway, Metropolis, NY 10025.

Okay, for real now, welcome a DC Comics roleplay blog aimed at posting articles that imitate what we imagine the Daily Planet in Prime Earth may publish. This might be articles relating to events that just happened in the ongoing comics, little fluff pieces we've made up to fill in some of the space, and historical "look-back" pieces that examine the history of Prime Earth and serve to remind the fictional people of Metropolis of everything that has happened. We probably won't do anything with other universes in DC (such as the elseworlds or absolute universe) unless we can figure out a way to fit it into realism (very unlikely).

Said articles will be posted under an array of OC cast names that have been assigned various positions in the Daily Planet. This will not include Clark Kent, Lois Lane, Cat Grant, Jimmy Olsen, etc, unless we decide they would truly be the best person to post said article.

We do have a vague timeline set up that we reference when mentioning historical events (such as superhero apperances or major events in Prime Earth's history) but, just like the DC timeline, that is very fluid and shifting. So due to the nature of comics we may post one article on a new issue that establishes the event as happening in like, March for example, then two months later post another article after another issue or two have released that shifts the event's placement in our timeline. So play events by ear and by whatever was most recently posted (just like with DC since they refuse to have a timeline that makes sense </3 )

Also, we do take requests! If you send us an ask with an idea for either a short fluff article, or a request to cover a specific event in DC history (that a major news article could feasibly cover, so like could write about the Imperix War but not Red Robin's assault on the League of Assassins because the Daily Planet would have no idea that happened), then we'll take it into consideration! We won't take requests on current events in DC comics (aka things that just happened in released issues), because we both keep up to-date on the new releases every week, and if there's something we didn't cover then there's a reason for that. Of course, there are no guarantees that we'll write it as everything we post is up to our discretion, or when it'll be posted since we're both very busy, but we will consider it! If we do so, we'll post the article as a seperate update, attempt to reference you in it if possible, and tag you at the bottom of the article with a statement clarifying that it was a request.

We also do normal asks too! If you send in a question directed at the faint, ethereal head editors of the daily planet, we'll answer that too. Of course, we'll shy away from 4th wall breaking ones, as that's not the point of this blog. We may answer any of those in a private response if we choose to though.

Finally, if you're another DCRP blog and would like to do some sort of collaboration, please reach out! We really want to but we have no idea of how........ Also, if you use our articles as a jumping off point for DCRP of your own (such as in our reblogs), then please do follow us and mention it! These articles take a lot of time to write and we'd really appreciate the recognition!

My muse for Sai is somewhat canon-divergent and incorporative of headcanon material but is based almost entirely on canonical elements from the Naruto manga and Shippuden anime.

I am, however, completely alright with things like your character(s) making assumptions about what my muse is doing or how they're feeling but, if you're really not sure where I'm headed with something, feel free to message me and ask. You can leave likes on threads you aren't a participant in—it's fun! It lets me know that you like what you're reading (just as long as you're not reblogging those threads)! Please don't start roleplay commentary on other Tumblr users' posts. I see this happening most often on image posts. Please be courteous to people who aren't roleplayers by keeping your threads off of their posts and making new posts of your own to start them instead!

Even as someone who has many original characters who is also an OC-friendly roleplayer of canon muses, I don't mind if you don't personally roleplay with OCs.

I match other roleplayers' text sizes in my replies (and I also usually omit emotive or reaction icons if my partner doesn't use them) but whether or not you format your posts is not a deal-breaker for me at all.

I tag all visual content with the "nsft" tag; explicit text is not tagged. (I try to use the Community Labels feature when appropriate, but it's often very glitchy for me, so I would advise filtering that tag if you really want to avoid boobas.)

⛔ On Blocking & Filtering I typically only block bots, trolls, and, if I notice, anyone who has blocked me. However, I extensively use content and tag filters in conjunction with XKit to hide filtered posts entirely. This occasionally means "false positives" will be caught in the filter, and I might miss posts and notifications as a result.

💌 On Following Back I honestly don't follow new blogs often, and I won't follow blogs at all if they don't meet these two criteria at minimum:

The blogger must be over 18 years old, although I typically prefer following folks who are at least in their late 20s.

A basic and consistently used tagging system must be in place (e.g., at least tagging the title for a piece of media or the name of a character).

💔 On Unfollowing I will sometimes unfollow blogs (including mutuals) under certain conditions, namely:

If they've been inactive for over 6 months

If our interests have dramatically shifted

If their posts make me uncomfortable for any reason (drama-mongering or guilt-tripping are the most common reasons)

💬 On Asks and DMs My ask box is open with a few stipulations:

📃 Miscellaneous A few other personal policies of note:

I'm a big advocate for reblogging your own posts! I frequently do it myself. Self-reblogs are usually about 6-8 hours apart, but if you find they're clogging your dash, you can blacklist the "srb" tag.

I queue a lot of my original posts and reblogs, and my queue can be as long as a month out.

I typically only use likes to acknowledge personal posts, and I wipe them completely a couple of times a year.

❓ What tools do you use for your Cyberpunk 2077 screenshots? For poses and expressions for both V and NPCs, I use these mods:

For spawning decor, SFX, and lights, I use:

ReShade The two shaders I mostly use are Cinematic DOF (which creates a nicer blur than the vanilla DOF) and RealLongExposure (which reduces hair pixelization).

Otis Injectible Camera I predominantly use this for hot-sampling and hiding the game menus for making GIFs, but it is also a more powerful flycam and includes another lighting tool (CyberLit). This is a paid mod.

All color-editing, levels-adjusting, clip-fixing, etc. is done in Adobe Lightroom and Adobe Photoshop.

❓ What other Cyberpunk 2077 mods do you recommend? I have a list that I update every few months that links all the publicly available mods I use in my game and a general mod tag for any mods that look interesting/useful. I’ve also dabbled in making mods (mostly pose packs that are kind of obsolete at this point and alternate clothes for Goro) that are available for free at my Ko-fi shop.

❓ Is your V's preset or NPV publicly available? Nope! I rarely share Valerie, and when I do, it's only with close friends who I know will take good care of her.

❓ Do you take commissions? I currently don’t take commissions of any kind, although I am sometimes open to art trades with mutuals (art for art, VP for VP, or VP for art). I can’t guarantee my schedule will always permit it, but if you’re interested, feel free to DM me!

❓ Would you be interested in taking shots for my mod? There's a good chance I would be, yes! Generally, the only times I'd say no are if 1) I don't have enough time to take and edit shots (usually a week's notice is enough) or 2) it's a fashion/cosmetic mod I just don't think is Valerie's style. Hi, anon! I'm so excited for you to join our fandom's writing community!

I saw the ask to @awesomefringey, and I first want to say not to be too nervous about doing anything wrong for the fest. If you have any questions, just contact the mod(s) for help. Mods are usually so happy to help with anything you might be confused about. And if you need an extension, please please reach out to them instead of ghosting.

If you're in the writing process or just starting out, it can be really helpful to have a bit of a community to go to for help like a discord server of writers. There's one I know of that's especially for new(er) writers in our fandom... @new-writers-discord If that's too intimidating, a beta or even just a friend who will help you brainstorm or plan or read over the fic can be really helpful.

Another great resource we have in the fandom is the podcast @roseanddaggerpodcast In those episodes two really great writers (and one who is a very experienced beta!) talk about all kinds of writing topics that could be useful. Maybe check out episode 51 which is about planning a fic step by step and episode 53 about building a fic from a basic idea to an outline as those are probably the best ones to get you started.

When your fic is published, don't be afraid to promote it! Anyone who you see making fic recs on tumblr, I wouldn't hesitate to send your fic to any of them via dm or an ask or even just tagging them in the tags. If you want to look for some blogs like that, I'd check out the "28th appreciation" tag and you'll see all the people who make fic recs for the 28th. Feel free to tag me as well or send it to me! This is an independent, selective (as in: mutuals-only), and non-exclusive (as in: I'm okay with more than one version of a character interacting with this muse, this blog is duplicates-friendly), crossover and OC-friendly multi-muse roleplay blog for Log and Mitsuki from the Boruto series, Orochimaru, and an OC named Shibi, who is another cloned child of Orochimaru's.

My muses for Orochimaru, Mitsuki, and Log are mostly canon-adherent as well as incorporative of headcanon material but are based almost entirely on canonical elements from Naruto and Boruto series.

No god-modding. I control my characters, you control yours. I am, however, completely alright with things like your character(s) making assumptions about what my muses are doing or how they're feeling but, if you're really not sure where I'm headed with something, feel free to message me and ask. Clarification helps sometimes.

Yes, you can like and reblog the things that I post and share. You do not need to go to an image's or musing post's source to like it or reblog it. You can leave likes on threads you aren't a participant in—it's fun! It lets me know that you like what you're reading (just as long as you're not reblogging those threads)! Please don't worry about 'notification spamming' me. It's not a big deal and I don't mind it at all.

Please don't start roleplay commentary on other Tumblr users' posts. I see this happening most often on image posts. Please be courteous to people who aren't roleplayers by keeping your threads off of their posts and making new posts of your own to start them instead!

Even as someone who has many original characters who is also an OC-friendly roleplayer of canon muses, I don't mind if you don't personally roleplay with OCs.

This is more an ask for help than a confession. I'm the main mod on an rp search blog (you'll likely know which one), and I'm asking here because with our ads our posts can get lost.

We recently introduced a new rule asking for ads to state that characters are 18+. Originally it was only needed on ads requesting nsfw but we thought it was unfair to request this for some people but not others and with fandoms that have a lot of minor characters or mods arent familiar with, we also wanted to be able to post ads and feel confidentwe weren’t promoting anything we shouldn't be.

First we made a post about the rule change and added it to the top of our masterpost. We reblogged the warning multiple times. Nobody followed it. So we've added the rule to our masterpost three times, emboldened and capitalised everything important, tried to shorten the rules so that they're easier to skim through.

We're still having an issue with only 1 out of 5 ads following this rule. We considered scrapping it completely but also, we feel that it's still important and the fact that people aren't following it says a lot about reading comprehension. We just feel bad being unable to post so many ads. Do we go bacn to only needing it for nsfw rp? Any advice would be great.

Does anybody have any advice?

Ours would be to keep it if you feel it is important, as it is your choice how to run the blog. You could always make a regular ‘the inbox is now empty!’ post. When an ad isn’t published, most people should realise they need to reread the rules and fix before they resend.

If people feel differently, as I’m sure they will, send in your anons so this mod can get some help! 💙

I sorta have canon protagonists for fallout 1+2, but tbh, i hate the ui so much, that i dont constantly replay and refine my ocs for those games like i do for the rest of the games listed. I also don't currently have a 'canon' mass effect oc, bc my absolute dream is femshep x tali, and that is only possible with mods. When the next mass effect comes out, i will hopefully settle on a 'canon'.

I do make art of my ocs, but these are predominantly in my sketchpad and notes app, and i am hideously lazy about uploading my work. I am in some oc-centric fan communities though, so hopefully i can get better at this. Fair warning, i prefer to draw my ocs rather than write about them (weird for an english major, i know), but i am also not a very good artist. When i do write i prefer to write entirely original fiction. I do write some fanfiction, but i really struggle getting the voices of characters right, hence my preference for entirely original fiction. If i ever get comfortable enough to show off my fanfic, I'll link it here, but in the meantime, there is zero point asking.
