“Wire in Stop-Motion Movements”

I decided to take my silhouette people out of the sketch book and bring them into motion by bending wire to make it look like the are going through the motions of each movement.

“Wire in Stop-Motion Movement”

I decided to pick up my wire people and take them into ‘action’. By incorporating the skills I learned in the book making workshop, I was able to come up with a way to present the wire people. 

I fixed the problem of the structure by folding the card by eye instead of along a ruler. I then enforced the back of the folds with cardboard so that it can now hold itself up and be moved.

I can now show the moving by closing and opening the book. Therefore catching them mid-movement when the book is open.

Working on my large Wired Woman Sculpture... . The thing about sculpture is that we have to make art in the real (physical) world 🌎- a world where science 🧬 not only exists, but dominates. In this arena, it’s difficult, ‘impossible,’ or interestingly challenging to adhere to or bypass the laws of physics, for instance. . In painting and 2-dimensional work, we eventually can master the space and alternate between: a) depicting the real world in naturalistic ways, creating atmosphere and space, modeling life-like figures, animals, things, ...; and b) creating funky shapes, upside-down or surreal or sci-fi worlds, etc. The 3-dimensional world of sculpture is much harder to manipulate..., but we’ll see where I can push it in through my work in the next few decades.
