I am so glad that you have sent me this prompt because I am seemingly being haunted by Hannibal references everywhere, so working on these ideas made the braincell happy. I broke this into one canon and two AUs because why not.

canon. Hannibal is a respected psychiatrist that still consults for the FBI; Melissa is under Chilton's care. She has been featured in the tabloids in the usual scandalous fashion for criminal cases, labeled as a threat to herself and society and committed to the institution while waiting for trial... But something doesn't add up. Chilton is way too reserved about her case, and the sensationalism about a violent rampage that almost took her husband as a victim looks suspicious. It doesn't take long for Hannibal to figure out she's been framed (having framed others for his crimes himself), and that Chilton is being paid a very generous sum of money to keep her there, supporting allegations of 'insanity' while Melissa's husband takes her fortune and properties for himself. Melissa is out for revenge - on her husband, on Chilton, on everyone who accepted to be a part of that farse, and maybe there is a god with a cruel sense of humor somewhere that saw fit to make Hannibal cross her path.

AU. 'Jack the Ripper' is terrorizing London, and Melissa feels she has to do something to protect her girls - a confession the brothel owner shares with Doctor Lecter, unaware that one of her best clients is the killer himself. Melissa was familiar with a couple of the girls who were murdered, and as panic increased in the streets and customers turned increasingly afraid to visit pleasure houses, Hannibal remained loyal and understanding of her plight. Eventually, she discloses that the police had asked for her help, and that she was collaborating with the Scotland Yard - a fact that makes Hannibal stick around rather than plot to actively get rid of the madame, given the importance of the information she could bring to him. It feels like the most optimal arrangement, with a source from the police so readily available and trusting him... Until Hannibal realizes it may not be so simple. Maybe Melissa was smarter than he gave her credit for, attempting to lure him into a trap with false leads and seeking to hunt the hunter.

AU. Hannibal, the heir to the throne of a distant land, was once forced to flee during war, having lost all of his family (including his darling sister) in the aftermath. Exiled, he turned into a sharp, cunning young man, who returned to reclaim his birthright from the usurpers with remarkable violence and bloodshed. Unfortunately, Melissa is among those who are to be subjugated by his revenge. In what many call a cruel display of power, Hannibal has started a trend of sending for a young woman, to be selected from the ranks of those who once oppressed him, and then give her a chance of entertaining him for a night - or perish at his hands under torture, a far better deal than his sister was offered in the past. The horrifying tradition happens every month, keeping people afraid and labeling him a 'monster', even if some of them forgot they once supported the armies that also deprived Hannibal of his family and ancestral home. Tired of the bloodshed, Melissa, the eldest daughter of one of the men who served the prior government, volunteers - and miraculously survives the first night. It falls to her the job of repeating the feat, over and over, until the monster is either tamed (or she turns into one herself).

I also wanted to note that Phantom of the Opera was a strong contender for an AU here, but I opted to elaborate on these other two because it felt like cheating to propose that to a writer that has also mused Erik before, haha. Rewatching the 2004 movie did not make this easy though, particularly when I remembered the first 'fake' opera they rehearse is titled 'Hannibal'. I'm sure you can see the Erik/Christine and the Hannibal/Melissa parallels and I have something in my queue that will be extra perfect now.

Option one:

Chris would be the son of the big bad wolf, but he's adopted by Martin's family. While at first I thought the most obvious pick was The Little Mermaid, instead I thought that Swan Lake would be fitting for him.

Chris is the youngest of the litter, and he isn't even in their household anymore, so he's not expected to fulfill any destiny, not as Red Riding Hood or the Big Bad Wolf. He's just a feral wild child that occasionally sneaks into his brother's dorm to visit him.

Martin, on the other hand, is the only biological child in the Swan family. While he does like dancing, and likes being able to turn into a swan, he doesn't want to be one forever (instead of dying his fate would be to be turned into a swan forever, according to the wiki). It makes him depressed to think about. And he wants to find love on his own, he doesn't want it to be chosen for him by destiny. He doesn't want to be turned into a swan before he's even lived half his life. He wants to stay with his friends and his brother.

Aviva is the daughter of one of the princesses, though I can't decide which one would be best- Not that it matters much, as she's strictly a rebel. She doesn't want to be a princess and get saved by some dumb man! She was perfectly capable! And she wanted to invent! She didn't give a damn about some destiny! Though she doesn't really come into herself until later, and prior to this, is susceptible to peer pressure.

Koki is similar in the sense of being a rebel. I could totally see her as Darling Charming, being a strong rebel girl free to chose her destiny, not wanting to be some damsel in distress. She wanted to be the one to save a damsel! She could break any of the "knights in shining armor" in half. Often times people will try to tell her to be more ladylike, and she tells them to shove it.

Jimmy's definitely the son of the Huntsman. He doesn't want to be this big, strong hunter that hurts anything! He loves animals, even if they spook him. He's not big, strong, or brave like a hunter should be. And even when he becomes bigger, stronger, and braver, he still doesn't want to be a hunter!

You were a little confused to say the least, but you were never one to turn down an invitation from a friend. Especially Luka. And even when he looked so excited! Sure, it was confusing but he looked so excited so how could you turn him down?

Awkwardly, you stood within the loud crowd of people who were cheering on the fighters in the ring. Although you were too far into the crowd to see who was fighting, you relied on the announcer that you barely hear over the roar of the crowd to let you know when Luka was taking the stage.

The crowd seemed to grow louder as the fight went on and while you knew he was popular, you didn't realize the extent of his popularity until that moment. It grew hot in the crowd as they continued cheering for the fight as you were getting shoved farther away from the cage, leaving you only able to see his reddish hair flying about as he attacked his opponent.

As you heard the announcer call the match, you tried to squeeze out of the crowd to stand near one of the walls. Soon after, you saw Luka rushing out, waving at you. A tissue shoved up the side of his nose, you could see a little blood leaking onto it.

" (name)! (name)! You're here! I didn't see you in the crowd, but did you see me?! " His eyes were bright as he looked at you with anticipation, waiting for you to respond. He sort of reminded you of a puppy... And you can't lie to a puppy, right?

" ...Yeah! I saw you fighting that- " What was he fighting? You couldn't see at all... " ...In any case, you were cool! " You assured him, placing your hand on his shoulder, his face lighting up. You could feel the guilt itching at you as you lied to him. Best not to dig your grave any deeper, right?

" Alright! " He pumped his mechanical arm in the air in celebration as you turned him around, nudging him back to where he had come running from.

" I think it's time for you to go get those scrapes bandaged up though, Luka. " You let out a quiet laugh as you heard him let out an 'aw' in response.

               Roseanna feels her blood go cold in her veins as panic sits heavy in her stomach. “What are you talking about?”

               “It started when the blood-“ Paul stumbles over his own words, interrupting himself with a cough. “The Cullens. It started when the Cullens came back.”

               Roseanna scoffs. “Oh, you’re so full of shit, Paul. You blame them for everything and half the time they aren’t even involved. Remember that really bad storm we got a year ago? Whose fault was that again? Oh, right, it was the Cullens’ for having the nerve to live a town over from you.”

               “But Bella is in trouble. Maybe not in this exact moment, but-”

               “What?!” Roseanna tries her best to keep her voice from turning to a shriek. “You call me and tell me my sister is in danger after everything that just happened with her and Edward, only to backtrack two sentences later?! Un-fucking-believable. God, I can’t believe I was ever stupid enough to be with you!”

               Paul is silent for a few seconds before speaking, his voice dangerously low, almost nearing a growl. “How would you know if I’m lying or not? You aren’t even here. You ran away like a little girl after I broke your heart, didn’t you? Poor little Rosie. The big bad wolf was mean to her. News flash, princess, we never would’ve lasted anyway.” The smirk in his voice is undeniable when he says, “fooling around with the Sheriff’s perfect oldest daughter was pretty fun, though.”

               “You’re a bastard.”

               “What’s new there?”

               Quiet settles over the line as Paul and Roseanna wait to see who draws blood next. Both of them were always more than a bit temperamental, Roseanna inheriting the worst traits of her mother, and Paul inheriting the worst traits of his own family. Both of them were always more than a bit temperamental, but they always kept each other out of the crossfire.

               Out of the corner of her eye, Roseanna can see Felix staring at her unblinking. It’s unnerving, something she still hasn’t grown accustomed to. She’s about to end the conversation with Paul and go back to Felix when Paul asks the one thing she’s been wondering herself:

               “What happened to us Rosie?”

               “I don’t know. Maybe… maybe we just grew up?” All the bitterness Roseanna had been holding rushes out of her in one breath. “You’re right. We never would’ve lasted.”

               “You really think that?”

               “Do you?” Roseanna waits for Paul to answer, sighing when he never does. “I’ll take that as a yes. Paul, look, we broke up. You don’t have to worry about me anymore and I don’t really want you to. It’ll only lead us down a dark road. I’m not really into the lovers to enemies trope.”

               “Then which trope are you into?”

               “Lovers to strangers, preferably.”

“I can’t do that. You’re my best friend even if you aren’t my girlfriend.”

Roseanna’s throat constricts and she has to blink back tears. “I can’t be your best friend. Not after all this. I’m moving on like you are.”

“What the hell does that mean?” Just like that Paul’s anger returns full force. “There’s no way you’ve already met someone else.”

“And why is that so unbelievable?”

“Bella said you were going to work on yourself, not hop on another dick.”

“I’ll hop on whatever dick I want to.” Her cheeks flair red when she hears Felix chuckle happily. “Shut up, Paul!”

“Oh, that’s real mature. We were too close to having a real conversation, huh?”

Rather than answer and keep going in circles, Roseanna hangs up her phone, resisting the urge to smash it into the nearest object. Was he always such an asshole? Did she just miss all the signs? Is this what their relationship is going to be? Hitting each other where it hurts every single time they interact?

“That went as well as it could have, I think,” Felix says as Roseanna moves robotically to the bookshelf on the other side of the bedroom. He watches her carefully, noticing the way her eyes are glazed over and how shallow her breathing is. “Roseanna?”

“Hm?” She looks at him in surprise. Like she’s just noticing him. “Oh, uh, yeah.”

Felix taps the arm of the couch with one long pointer finger, his others curling tightly into the fabric. “I see it’s up to me to state the obvious: his attempt to manipulate you was lazy at best, narcissistic at worst, yes?”

“Yes.” But still… “Maybe I should call Bella.”

“No.”

Roseanna looks at Felix. Really looks at him. He answered very quickly and with none of his usual playfulness or flirtation. “Why? Felix, what do you know?”

He pinches the bridge of his nose, shutting his eyes tightly. The day had been so nice up until now. “It’s nothing to worry about, I promise.”

“But there is something?”

“It’s nothing to do with your sister.”

Roseanna walks back over to the couch and lowers herself to sit beside him. His eyes are bright from a recent feed, he never leaves himself alone with her unless his hunger is mostly satisfied, and he doesn’t flinch away from her gaze. Eyes are the window to the soul and he’s never bothered to hide from her. So…

“Why don’t I believe you?” Her voice is barely above a whisper. “What are you hiding from me?”

Felix isn’t pleased with the unspoken accusation. “I’m many things, my love- a soldier first and foremost. I can’t betray Aro.”

Roseanna always prided herself on her adaptability. Mostly because she could just pretend whatever situation she was in wasn’t real. Like this entire situation with the Volturi. It just isn’t real. She’s on vacation in Italy, sure, but she wasn’t kidnapped. Felix isn’t real either. No matter how badly she wants him to be real, he just isn’t. Vampires aren’t real. None of it is real, just a passing dream she’ll wake up from any minute now. The last two weeks of her life have only been a dream.

“You’re panicking.” Felix looks at her worriedly. He can hear her heartbeat speeding up erratically and all the color is quickly fading from her face.

“This isn’t real,” she chants as the room spins around her. “You aren’t real. Vampires aren’t real.��            

Felix is taken aback when Roseanna shoves at him, crying hysterically. He tries to calm her, but no amount of sweet names or reassuring whispers helps. Eventually, the darkness comes, though. It always comes. Roseanna collapses in his arms, but it’s okay. She’s okay. This is just a dream.

Slightly later than what I originally wanted but hi hello, rant is here. (Give me some grace through this, I began to write it on my phone and I'm using my works' computer to write it while being interrupted by my actual job XD)

Will touch upon your own points first as I think they are all very valid and one of the main things to take from OUAT at many points of the series: it's never as bad as simply stating that the show sucks. There's always something and that's how it had such a grip onto many of us back then. Not even touching the dark swan arc, there was always a lot of potential for darker twists and I honestly believe that the only season in where they had the wiggle room to play with it a litte was season 1 in where Disney had yet to reach with it's big claws and "kawai-fy" so many other arcs. Aaaaand yet. whilst you can say that the 100 is the perfect example of the bury your guys trope around that general time, I will always posit that THE example for qeerbaiting was OUAT. And this comes from someone that is a rizzles shipper as well(slight edit here: I could argue that R&I corresponds to an older version of queerbaiting, closer to 90s approach whilst OUAT corresponds to a more modern approach of actively toying with the audience). The crux of the matter, for me at least, was that they wrote themselves into a corner with CS way before s5: if they did the whole "they are true love, they work so perfectly well" angle, without giving room to a possible different route, its queer fans would disappear. They needed a somewhat engaged fandom that kept on trying to point that Regina and Emma as narrative foils, as the perfect story of redemption and love and growth through trust, was there. It kept the numbers up basically and you can tell they lost that in s7. (They tried to bring it through other means but the tension between two characters and the "will we go that route? Keep watching!" Did not work any longer). Which was one of the things they parroted a lot through earlier seasons.

So now you have all of that AND s5. For me the problem is as you said on how queer the narrative is if you think on it. With a Regina that is no longer a more artificed version of herself and so an option for an Emma that is clearly having doubts on what is she supposed to be like with the whole darkness and redemption route and what it means for Regina to become a balance to Emma's own magic when there had been an establishment of magic as this powerful thing that might corrupt you if you allow it and the flamboyancy of magic on itself and all magic users (Edit, this alone would give me a several pages thesis if I really wanted to). So they create this big tension at the end of the previous season and tell us that they are going to be doing different things for the next one (meaning, 5A) One of the things that felt needed was the slimmin' down of all the plots and encompasing arcs they've created at the end of S4. Far too bulky all of that (this idea will be back in a few lines, let me cook xd) . So by turning Emma into the Dark One the story felt like going back to its origins with S1 in which we had fewer characters and the weight of everything laid on their decisions as opposed to the characters merely reacting to the plot because of... well, plot. Like, back in S1 and S2 the evil of the season was more an idea on itself and the way the characters grew around ideas the show was actively trying to fight against what made the story compelling (back then the premise of Red being the wolf and the plot twist of being the one that ate her bf for example was quite the retelling and we kept encountering moments in where our perception of folklore legends needed to be updated, that thing got lost in later seasons) We had the pictures of JMO on the full Dark Swan regalia and we all went bonkers: it was the promise of a retelling of a retelling. Meta-wise? Amazing.

And then xd Then the actual S5 airs and it's not like they undelivered all across every possible thing. As you said there are things there that work well or that had the possibility of working well. Yet; for a season that felt like they might have gone the simiplifying a far too big of a monster route when it came to interconnected narratives of far too many characters, (which, mind you, was NEEDED) they added Camelot to the mix, Merida, they started to work with the trope of the Savior there a little as well, on it having a separate mythos and therefore meaning something else than simply a title, you had the whole thing with the Underworld... narrative wise it was a mess because, rather than trying to answer questions that might have been interesting and their own seasons like what meant for Emma to become the Dark Swan, what happened there, etcetc they decided to treat it as the villain of mid-season -while actively not giving her the necessary scenes for it because you also had the Merlin flashbacks, the Arthur plot-twist, the very strange scenes with Hook being moody af...There were, as there always were, plenty of scenes with plenty of subtext but none of them really reached its full potential and then the whole tension with Emma being the dark one fizzed out while trying to make it seem like this big, horrible thing that had happened back in Camelot in the span of six weeks but it was not, really. < This is the main reason why I always thought that they had another idea for this season, the whole thing sat on the shoulders of the idea that Camelot had been a point of no return with Emma and we would be seeing her own descent into madness but then that did not really happen with Emma's own relationship with "Rumple's" Dark One version. So then you reach 5b and something that should have been its own mystery through the span of AT LEAST one entire season became moot. I will always state that the Emma is the Dark One, there's a void on what the Savior is now and this therefore creates something beyond us in terms of narrative should have spanned more than one season but that's wishful thinking on my side.

Point I'm trying to make really is that, even if you take the whole conversation pertaining shipping out, even if you solely look at Emma's character with as much critical thinking skills as possible, even if you do a full comparative study on it all.. the main problem was that they refused to use the tools they themselves have written and built in the narrative: the story was always a core set of characters: the un-charmings, Emma, Henry, Rumple, Regina... you could argue Belle, maybe, as this tragic figure of being in a relationship with the concept of all Evil.... again, narrative wise you either do a well thought branching up of those very same core concepts or the story will simply feel overblown and not at all thought off. And that's what happened for me and what became abundantly clear in s5 after rather than giving us a commentary on what they had built about Emma's clear and obvious doubts pertaining her space within her own family, what it meant the role of savior (what that meant in terms of queer history ofc because IT WAS FUCKING THERE)... they chickened out.

And so we have fics and people talking about it and spending their time writing a big ass wall of text xd

@cinnonym so much rant within me that FIGHTS to come out whenever I think of season 5 xd -chuckles in irated- Aside from that, Thank you! <3 there were veritable rivers of ink being spilled back then with the paralel of comphet and emma's own personal arc regarding her place as a saviour, remember those? Lots of amazing tumblr people did amazing character studies on this and, to be honest, it's also a personal fav for me. There's something quite angsty about seeing Emma's destruction beyond the meta analysis you could do on the actress, the whole fiasco with the creators and all of that. Emma's magic and the way it behaved and worked, kept on growing through the shade of Hook's relationship with her and the strongest it was pulled in that direction the more souless it all felt. Lovely on the writing aspect, horrid in the "we were actually enjoying the opportunity to have a queer relationship based on narrative tropes but I guess that's over now" aspect.

When Edward leaves she goes catatonic, depressed for months. She wakes up screaming, scaring Charlie, refusing help, and lies to him to get him off her back. Saying she has friends like Jessica.

Those friends she talks about mean literally nothing to her but a cover story. She forces her way back into their friend group because she wants to know about the "bears" in the woods.

She strings Jacob along. Worse than the first book where she flirts with him to get information about the Cullens. This time, although she says she has no feelings for him her actions say other wise. She uses him to make herself feel better. He's the sun and Edward the moon.

Poor Jacob becomes a wolf and pushes her away because he doesn't want to force her into his world and because he has too.

She forces herself onto him, he spills the beans because he loves her. Then she is like you're killing people you monster. What the fuck. He isn't the right monster for her. Did I forget she becomes an adrenaline junky just to see Edward or the fact she ditched Jacob and her father for him.

Third book- Eclipse

She kisses Jacob when she's engaged to Edward. Although he did force her to once and manipulated her into doing it the second time. Just so he could run off into the fight anyway.

Bella is just a big horny dog.

Also love Jasper he's my favorite.

Book four- Breaking Dawn

Nasty... Also the fact Edward tried to sell her off to Jacob is fucking wrong and disgusting that Jacob is tempted by this and he imprints on a child. A baby. Also thats not how eggs work my guy.

Why did they send Carlisle away and not the others like Edward who can read their fucking minds. The wolves plans could have easily gone to shit with him there.

They could have done both IV blood and drinking and have the others go out to get more or maybe use Charlie as a way to get passed the wolves they wouldn't risk exposure or a human life. Hidden Bella and Edward somewhere in the house.

Renesme is that how you spell it. Is dumb. Also imprinting is grooming and predatory. The other Hybrid was a better match for her when she was older. Also Jacob already saw her romantically. He's just waiting until she's older.

Poor Charlie being alone and pushed to the side.

Rene is a bad mom. She parentified her child. Bella is literally the adult and Rene the child. Bad mom.

Edward is a pedophile just as much as Jacob. He controls Bella or tries to. Has destroy her things to get what he wants. Asshole. This few days, Bella tried to contact Jacob. But he never answer her call, never talk to her again. This lead Bella to finally confront him. She decided to bring (y/n) with her, she has the feeling that she need to bring her. She knock on her sister room and peeking her head. (Y/n) is sitting on her bed, reading one of the novel. "Hey, you busy?" (Y/n) look at Bella, shaking her head. "Not at all. What's wrong?"

Bella lean her body to the door frame, "i'm going to confront Jacob. Want to come?" (Y/n) nod and immediately head toward her closet to change clothes. "I'll wait downstair okay?"

As (y/n) change her clothes, her mind start to think about Paul. Will she meet him there? What should she do? But soon, she shake her head throw away the thought of Paul and quickly leave her room.

Charlie is at work, so it easier for the 2 girls to leave the house without worrying him too much. They drive to the Black household in silent, one being nervous, one pissed.

Bella quickly removing her seat belt and head toward the door, knocking it. (Y/n) hurriedly follow her sister and stand behind her. The door open and reveal Billy. "Bella? (Y/n)?"

The 4 men is Sam, Paul, Embry, and Jared as she recall as she saw them on the beach few days ago.

"What did you do?!" Bella punch Sam angrily. "What did you do to him?!"

"He didn't tell me anything because he scared of you." (Y/n) know, the moment Bella said that, it will the start of a fight. She knew her sister so well. She decided to stop Bella to make anymore comment.

"Bella.. come on.. stop." But Bella being Bella didn't listen, blind by her anger.

The boys laugh at her comment and result in Bella punching Paul right on his face. Suddenly Paul is shaking so bad as Sam tell them to stand back.

Bella stand back, grabing (y/n) arm, looking at shaking Paul, confused. (Y/n) look at Paul as there is something wrong with him. Why did he shaking like that?

Short moment after that, Paul change into a big massive wolf, almost hurting (y/n) if Bella didn't pull her sister fast enough. (Y/n) so shocked that she freeze, terrified at the creature in front of her. Bella try to grab her sister arm and run, as Jacob run to their way and shift into a wolf too, in the middle of air. The two wolf fight with each other, breaking Billy's old boat, and rolling to the forest.

"Hey. Take them back to Emily's place." Sam said to Jared and Embry as he himself go to the forest.

(Y/n) is so shocked at what happened, as the memories of that night in Phoenix keep haunting her. Bella immediately hug her sister tightly. "We will be fine, sis..." as Jared and embry help the 2 girls to the car and head to Emily's.

"I think we should go check if Jacob is alright." Bella said as they arrive at a wodden house.

"I hope Paul sink some teeth on him." Jared comment which Embry replied. "No way, Jake is a natural. You see as he shift in mid air like that." Jared shrug it. "Come on, Bella. We won't bite." Jared said and walk inside the house.

Bella look at (y/n), she is so pale. "(Y/n), come on... i'm here with you.. you will be fine." She tried to encourage (y/n).

"I think this is a bad idea, Bells...." (y/n) finally found her voice again. "One of them nearly killed me...." Bella hug her immediately, trying to calm her down.

"Hey.. it's okay.. we won't hurt you.. it's just an accident.. Paul will never forgive himself if he hurt you... come on.. let's get you something for calming you down..." Embry walk toward (y/n), try to assuring her. (Y/n) nod her head and get out of the car, walking slowly behing Bella.

They stop just on the door, watching Emily make food. As she turn toward the Swan sister, her face shocked them. Bella immediately swift her eyes, while (y/n) look at the floor. "Who are they?" She ask eyeing the sisters.

"Bella, who else. And her sister." Jared said, grabbing a muffin. "So, you are the vampire girl." Bella shrug. "So you are the wolf girl." Emily chuckle and nod. "Well, i'm enganged to one." She then grab a big plate full of muffin and place it on the table. "Save some for your brothers and ladies first. Muffin?"

"Sure." Bella walk toward the table and grab one. That time, Emily can see (y/n) clearly and she smile widely at her. "Hi. I'm so happy that i can finally meet you."

(Y/n) give her small smile. "Come in.. let's give you something to drink and calm you down. You look so pale." She grab (y/n) hand gently, but (y/n) yank her hand gently. Bella who see this help her sister. "Sorry, Emily.. she just witnessed something terrifying... come on, (y/n)."

Emily just smile softly as (y/n) stand close beside Bella, head down, playing with her fingers. "So, what happened?"

"Just leave it to Jacob to find a way around Sam's gag order." Emily said.

"He didn't say anything to me."

"That' a wolf thing. Alpha's order get obeyed whether we like it or not." Embry chimmed in, shuffling muffin into his mouth. "Oh and hey, we can hear each other thought."

"Would you shut up? This is a trade secret." Jared said. "These cheeks run with vampires." The word of vampire make (y/n) tense up. Bella is having a relationship with a vampire? Despite that she knows about her fear about them? Bella face turn pale. Shortly she regain her composure. "You can't run with vampire.. cause they're fast." (Y/n) can't believe her sister will be so calm talking about vampire.

Jared face shows disbelief. "Yeah? But we are faster. Freak out yet?" Bella shrug. "You are not the first monster i've seen."

"Jake's right. You are good with freaks." Sam voice coming from the door as he walk toward Emily and kiss her all over her face.

(Y/n) nudge her sister arm. "I want to go home..." she whispered. But before Bella can answer it, there show Jacob and Paul in the yard shoving each other in a playfull manner. Paul walk inside and take a seat beside Embry, while Jacob lean against the door.

Seeing Paul make (y/n) moves her body close to her sister. "Sorry." Paul said turn to look at Bella with his smirk but when caught a glimpse of his imprint, standing close to Bella make him wonder. What is her relationship with Bella? The look of fear on her face make Paul feel regret that he scaring his imprint with what happened earlier. "Hey... sorry.. i didn't mean to scared you like that.." Paul voice is so soft, shocking Bella and Emily. But (y/n) didn't give him a glance as she flinch when Paul tried to grab her hand.

"Uh, Jake.. maybe you should take (y/n) back home... there're something that i have to tell them.." bella said to Jacob as he nod, before she turn to look at her sister. "It's okay.. you know Jacob.. he won't hurt you. Go home and take a rest okay?" (Y/n) nod and leave hurriedly from a den of wolves with Jacob behind her.

As they leave, everyone turn to Bella, looling for an explanation. Bella sigh before begin to explain what happened to her sister. "She's my younger sister. She just came back here a week ago."

"She's your sister?!" Paul exclaim, shocked.

"Good luck, Paul..." Jared said, half laughing.

"What?"

"Paul imprinted on your sister." Sam said make Bella more confused. "What is an imprint? Is it a dangerous thing? She just have had enough dangerous on her life. Don't make it worse."

"No, it's not dangerous thing at all. It's a wolf version for soulmate. We look at her eyes and our focus is her only. We become everything that she needs, whether it's a protector, a lover, a friend, everything. Emily is my imprintee." Sam explain shortly about imprinting.

"What?! So you imprint on my younger sister?! Out of so many girls, you decided to imprint on her?! She finally start to have a normal life, before you imprint on her." Bella get mad at Paul.

"I can't decided who i can imprinted or not!"

"We can't do anything about it, Bella..." Sam said, trying to calm the tension.

"What exactly happened to (y/n)? She looks so terrified..." Embry ask.

Bella sigh in defeat. "Back when we used to live in Phoenix, when (y/n) was just 12, her best friend got killed by a vampire in front of her. (Y/n) herself almost got killed, before Carlisle help her. It make her traumatized around vampire.. she can't sleep well for months, and keep having a nightmare, even until now. She always got scared when seeing a red eyes... that event just change her attitude around people. She hate when many people look at her, she scared darkness, and small alley. It always make her remembered what happened that night."

Hearing the story make the boys and Emily gasp. "But you run with one!" Jared said. "I haven't tell her! Okay? I don't know how to tell her. I want to tell her that Carlisle was the one who help her that day.. I wish i never tell her about Edward and the Cullen. So she can finally live a normal life. But then he imprint on her, and she knows about werewolves." She said looking at Paul.

"Will she be okay? I mean her life just got into some dangerous one, as she is Paul's imprintee and you sister as you have relationship with vampires." Emily ask worriedly.

"I don't know.. i just have to think how to tell her slowly about this..and the vampire things.." Bella look down.

"How about let Billy or Harry tell her? Maybe having one of the elder to explain it to her will help. We can't send Paul to explain, she scared of him. We will just slowly let (y/n) know us first." Sam suggest.

"Let's have Harry tell (y/n).. she really close with the Clearwaters..." Bella said as Sam nod. "But give her time to calm down.. this was a terrifying moment for her..."

"Okay.. just tell Jacob when she's ready, okay? So i can inform Harry."

The entire time, Paul just stay silent. He felt guilty that because of him losing his temper, his imprint get scared of him and the pack. He devoted in his heart that he will work on his temper for (y/n). So he don't put her in danger when she around him.

The car was filled with a somber silence, drizzles of rain splattered onto the windshield only to be wiped away.

Amalthea tore her eyes away from the racing drops of rain, "So, are we just not gonna talk about the dudes who got a bit mad, turned into giant ass wolves, and almost caused my cousin to die?"

Bella nudged her cousin on the elbow, signaling for the girl to shut her mouth. Thea whispered under her breath to the brunette, "No, I'm serious. The fuck happened to normal fist fighting!" The only reply she got was another nudge and silence.

Another minute passed before Amalthea opened her mouth yet again, "Bella I know we almost, you know, passed away- but we got to go back to Uncle Charlie's if I got to do Uley's part. Haven't even started on mine, was kinda hoping I could bribe him into doing it." Bella, skin still quite pale, pinched the bridge of her nose and sighed.

Embry and Jared sniggered as the girl muttered, thinking the wolves couldn't possibly listen in.

Embry pulled Bella's truck toward a tiny, weathered house. From the back, Jared jumped out and opened the passenger door. Both girls stayed unbudgingly still. Amalthea fearing how vulnerable not having the protection of the vehicle made the both of them, and Bella fearing for Jacob's fate.

Embry turned toward Jared, "Pay up. She didn't puke." Annoyed, the boy handed the other five bucks. "Told you she was tough! She runs with bloodsuckers."

'Bella runs with mosquitoes? The hell she doin' that for?' Amalthea thought, apprehensively looking at her worried cousin from the side of her eyes.

"Wait-- we should go back, make sure that Jacob's okay."

Jared cut in on her worries, "I hope Paul gets some teeth in him. Serves him right."

Thea had the decency to look affronted as Bella snapped her head toward the boy with squinted eyes.

"No way. Jake's a natural. Did you see the way he phased on the fly? Five bucks Paul doesn't touch him." Embry spoke, easing Bella's worries. Jared retorted back with agreeance.

The shape shifters noticed the girls hadn't moved at all, "Come on in. We won't bite." Embry spoke, grinning at the two.

Jared quipped back, "Speak for yourself."

Bella gently shoved Amalthea out, who was very much still hesitant on leaving her spot. Warily, the girls climbed out of the car and joined the waiting boys.

Embry stopped the Swan pair, "Oh, hey, about Emily - Sam's fiancé- try not to stare. Bugs Sam."

Responses of "Why would I stare--" and "Whatever man," were cut off as the shape shifters entered the house.

Hesitantly, Bella entered behind Jared and Embry, Amalthea following timidly behind her, trying to perfect her brave face. A woman was seen standing at a counter, taking freshly made muffins out of the tin. Long, black hair draped over the side of her face, "You guys hungry? Like I have to ask...."

The young woman looked toward the quartet, showcasing the three scars running from her hairline down to her chin. Quickly glancing at the lines that pulled down the woman's eye and twisted the corner of her mouth, Amalthea subtly admired the deep scars.

'Guess it's time to add facial scars to the list of things I find hot!' Thea silently thought, the voice in her mind sighing.

Amalthea's attention was broken from her thoughts when the woman spoke again, "who's this?" questioning Jared and Embry, who were beelining for the warm muffins.

Jared went for a muffin, "Bella Swan and her cousin. Who else?"

"Jesus fuck, I have a name!" Thea muttered, looking to the beautiful woman in front of her, "The cousin's name is Amalthea Swan."

A loud bang was heard from the small back yard of the house, followed by a yelp of pain. Emily pretended like the sound wasn't heard, keeping her attention on Bella.

"So you're the vampire girl."

"I'm sorry-- the fucking what? Did you say vampire? Vampire girl? Bella, what the fuck do you be doing around here that people call you that? Vampire girl!" Amalthea was absolutely appalled, confusion masquerading her fear. Both women ignored the girl and her anxious rambling.

'If shape-shifting, big ass wolves exist, who's to say vampires can't?' Thea suddenly felt a bit light headed at the idea, missing Bella's response to the woman.

"Werewolves? I'm just engaged to one. But these animals--" Emily slapped Embry's hand as she spoke, "Save some for your brothers."

It was as if the gravity of the situation finally set in. Amalthea paled and stood pin straight, with her back to the wall next to the entrance. Anxiety of all the unknown caused for her to close up. As Thea was struggling to stop trembling, Bella cautiously toed toward the counter, eyes peeled on the door for any sight of Jacob.

Thea felt buzzing in her ears, mind beginning to muddle with unpleasant thoughts and eyes never straying from her dirty shoes. She just wanted to go back to Charlie's. None of this would be happening if they just stayed at Charlie's. Breaths began to feel harder to catch, as if she just ran a mile. A weight felt like it resided in her chest and would never move again. She'd never have been in this situation- which Bella is dealing with shockingly well, may she add!- if she didn't try to see Uley. Thea wondered if he knew that his brother was a giant wolf in his spare time.

The deep, gruff voice that belonged to Sam Uley caused for her to jump in shock, heart stopping quickly just before picking back up its rapid pace again.

The man spoke from the door way, "Because there are bad things here." He walked toward Emily, "And they're getting worse."

'Whatever the fuck that means!' Thea took to cracking her knuckles, trying to calm herself down before having an actual panic attack, using techniques the guidance counseling sessions that she was forced to attend had taught her. People around the girl conversing worked as white noise to the loud thoughts that refused to leave her brain. The panic was incessant and  embarrassing, considering how unaffected Bella seemed to be.

Thea looked back up from the floor when two more people walked into the small house, laughing and jabbing at one another. She watched as her cousin took a breath of relief, Jared and Embry looking over the boys in search of injury. A scar was healing on Paul's arm, leading to Jared rolling his eyes.

Amalthea watched as Bella walked toward Jacob, eyes widening in fear that Bella might leave her alone in a house where every single person was a stranger. Well, that was until a tall - and seemingly buffer than before - teen walked in from the backyard.

Hearing a dramatic intake of breath, all eyes turned to the teenager who arrived. His eyes were trained on the small, very pale girl hiding against a wall.

"Oh my god, Mal! My bestie, I've missed you! Where have you been-- wait no where have I been. I was gonna break and tell you everything anyway," a hand slapped Trevor Uley's head, though not deterring him from prancing toward the girl, "The first time you called I almost cried. Honest! Did you go to Jackson's game? Shit, I hope so." The boy took to whispering, knowing the shifters could still hear him, "Stalker wouldn't let me go." He rolled his eyes, opening his arms for Thea to give him a hug.

Little did Trevor know at the moment, his presence felt like a saving grace to the girl. Thea knew he wouldn't ditch on her like Bella would. Apparently, he missed her too much to do so.

Dragon Age: Inquisition Daemons

So here’s another group daemon selection. I make my choices based off of a mix of analysis (The Daemon Forum is my favourite spot, link) and general vibe as well as plot/thematic things. For this, a lot of inspiration has come from fanfiction I’ve read where the daemon choice just makes sense. There will be minor spoilers for these characters personal plot arcs. Please let me know what you think, and share your own headcannons!

*As a note I tend to pick more mammals than anything else and I am working on widening my selections, but I still run very mammal-centric.

Solas - Common Raven. Raven’s are very clever birds and are great problem solvers and strategists. They go after what they want, and while they can roam in groups, they can work on their own as well. They are also mischievous and cocky; they will pull the tail feathers of larger birds to distract them from food or just for fun. This clever, cocky, proud bird is a very good match for our not-so-humble apostate. Thematically, ravens can be seen as death omens since they often eat carrion. However, they are also called ‘wolf birds’ because they have been known to have working relationships with wolves for hunting. Therefore a raven on the shoulder of a wolf would just make sense thematically to me.

Dorian - Scarlet Macaw. Parrots are far too clever for their own good and boredom is their worst enemy. Along with being bright and flashy to match the sparkly mage, their also very loud and opinionated and dramatic about everything just for the hell of it. I think a Macaw would be bold and striking on Dorian’s shoulder, and would have a razor tongue like the mage. However macaws can also be easily stressed and fall into self-destructive behaviour in bad environments. Thematically I think this parrot would have little bald patches hidden under its wings from where it would stress pluck. An interesting healing arc would be the bald patches growing back in as Dorian is accepted for who he is and doesn’t have to hide himself anymore.

Vivienne - Mute Swan. It can be said of water fowl that they appear graceful and serene on the surface but that’s because you can’t see the intricate paddling going on underneath. I feel that summarizes Vivienne well; she is serene and powerful and graceful at first glance, but behind the scenes there’s a lot of work and whispers and gathering of information. Swans are also very strong and assured. They could break bone with the strength of their wings, and they are confident and assured in their place and their power and status. Furthermore, they’re dedicated to their goals and will put in the work to reach them. However, I also like a swan for Vivienne because they mate for life. They are devoted to a single partner, and when that partner dies they mourn heavily. Vivienne appears unruffled and absolutely pristine to everyone around her and that’s because very few are allowed past her mask to see the softer heart inside that loves and then mourns her loved ones.

Iron Bull - Wild hog/Boar. Pigs are very underestimated animals - they appear big and slow, but they are vicious and incredibly intelligent. Pigs are seriously violent and I think this matches Bulls blood-thirsty battle-lust. But like Bull, his daemon would be underestimated; a war machine on the outside but the mind of a great spy on the inside. They’re social animals, and highly adaptable to a range of environments, and they can be very defensive and protective of themselves and those they care about. Overall I think a boar just suits every aspect of Bull visually and thematically.

Cassandra - Ram. *I initially said Mountain Goat but I had meant a Ram/Big Horned Sheep. Usually I headcanon Cassandra with a dog, a hound of some sort, but this was just very interesting and I quite liked it. When looking at a description of a Ram*, I just felt like it spoke for itself: “ Thick-skinned, competitive, and proud... Assertive and quick to put others in their place when they're crossed, definitely the confrontational sort. Highly defensive of their personal projects and themselves. Highly confident, not ones to doubt their abilities... Likely stubborn and highly straightforward, possibly blunt. Possibly planners, probably quite determined and persistent.” Cassandra is a hard-worker, determined and stubborn. She’s definitely the kind to attack a problem head-first, but she does have the capability to be quick, light on her feet and strategic about her approach. Rams are of the sheep family, and thus are very loyal and close to the people that belong in their circle.

Blackwall - Milksnake. Snakes are generally non-confrontational. They don’t pick fights but they will finish them, which is something I can see reflected in Blackwall’s more laid back attitude towards battle than the other warrior companions. Milksnakes are also very adaptable and will do well wherever they are. They’re a mix of solitary and social, they like being around others but also need their own space. They’re also rather internal and have a lot going on inside they don’t let show, not the kind to wear their heart on their sleeve. Mainly I enjoy the thematic meaning of a milksnake. Milksnakes are adapted to mimic a poisonous snake. Their colour pattern is close to that of a much more dangerous snake, and as such they often trick predators into thinking they are something they’re not. I like this thematically for the not-Warden who is pretending to be something much more fearsome than he is.

Sera - Rat. The common rat is an incredibly adaptable, resourceful, hardy creature. They will find a way in whatever circumstances and use whatever they have to their advantage. They are highly social beings and are made to work in groups, in teams and with others - a network much like the Red Jennies or little people. They’re bold, assertive, and even a little aggressive at times.  A rat is seen as vermin and unwanted, but they’re everywhere and are clever and have their little hands in everything. Also, rats are thought of to be tricksters in mythos - the Chinese zodiac being an example of a rat tricking its way to the top. Sera uses her tricky playfulness mainly to pull pranks and cause mayhem, but she also uses it to stick up for others and assert her place in the world.

Varric - Vampire bat. Now I like the headcanon that dwarves don’t have daemons due to Fade-connection stuff and instead have weapons/armour like Armored Bears, but for the sake of argument I wanted to find what his daemon could be. A vampire bat is an unusual animal, and I think it, like Varric, would be the kind of person you don’t easily forget encountering. They are very sensitive, aware animals and are very in-tune with their surroundings and whats going on. They’re very social animals and thrive in groups. They have great communication skills and form close bonds with those they’re close to. Varric would do anything for the people he is closest to, and his natural environment is surrounded by people spinning tales and connecting with others. I think it’s an unusual daemon choice but I also like the idea that its a fun parallel to a surface dwarf - an underground animal, i.e. a rat, but in the sky with wings.

Cole - Unsettled. I think that if Cole did have a daemon, it would be unsettled. He is a spirit and he is in constant state of flux, despite having a central purpose of compassion. And even if he becomes more human, he is very reminiscent of a child learning the world and as such I do not think he would be settled until he becomes more settled in himself. (I do have further headcanon ideas about this spirit-daemon stuff but that may be another post, or a later addition to this one. Let me know if you’re interested)

Leliana - Mongoose. Leliana was harder for me because I don’t know her as well. I didn’t play Origins, but from what I know she was a much younger, more playful, less burdened and jaded person back then. I think this suits a mongoose very well. They can be very inquisitive and open and playful in their youth, unfearful of the wide world and ready to investigate anything to learn more. But as an adult they are more cautious and guarded. Mongoose are incredible predators and are very adaptive, able to take on even snakes that others don’t dare attack. They are more solitary and secretive, and I think an elusive, mysterious mongoose would be a wonderful hint at the fierce power hidden behind the cooler facade of her everyday persona. Brutal, subtle, and unexpected, a mongoose fits the spymaster well as far as I know her.

Cullen - Border Collie. I always knew Cullen would have a dog daemon, it was just a matter of which. He’s loyal and extremely hardworking, and so I decided on herding dogs. I chose Border Collie specifically because of their intelligence, independence and ability to think strategically. This is the kind of dog that will happily take orders and follow command, but will also work on its own to get a job done. Of herding dogs, Border Collies also have the ability to be a bit more ruthless, I feel. They aren’t timid dogs and if left to their own devices could become destructive and rough due to boredom and lack of stimulation. Also, they are predisposed to listen and obey and thus could fall prey to poor leadership (as seen in Kirkwall). Any dog I think could fit for our loyal, hardworking Commander, but I think Border Collie is a good fit. A bit of a farm-boy turned soldier, follower turned commander aesthetic fits thematically with his overall arc.

Josephine - Zebra Longwing. This kind of butterfly is beautiful and poisonous, a perfect combination for our ambassador. Butterfly’s are social creatures and do well around others. Furthermore this kind of butterfly works in groups to achieve its goal, suggesting a calm, diplomatic mind that is good at working with others towards a goal. Furthermore, butterflies are very sensitive and aware creatures; they pay attention to their surroundings and are very intuitive about the environment and others. Lastly, with a slightly toxic nature, these insects warn off predators with their flashy pattern that advertise them as dangerous. I like this because I think Josephine’s daemon would be a great hint at how not-helpless she is, a bit of a giveaway to her power and abilities. Plus I think a pretty butterfly perched like a beautiful broach suits her aesthetic.
