Well. Goddamn. Having finished In Other Waters. What a phenomenal game. No clue how to effectively recommend it to people in a way that both sells it accurately but also doesn't understate how. Thoughtfully and intentionally it's made. But I do want to capture my gut reaction, right off of finishing it. So. Hrm. Lets see.
- You experience the entire game through screens- minimal graphics, dots and radars and scans and texts. It is scientific and methodical and- not tedious, exactly, but. Exacting. You scan, and move, and monitor, and the whole world is lines and dots and bare bones information on a screen.

- But the world is also alive. It's so beautifully, wonderfully- at times, terrifyingly- miraculously alive.
- I don't know how to describe the way that the game builds this, but it feels like learning a language, or slowly seeing a pattern. Little things move in the water and you learn to recognize the movements. Wordy, beautiful descriptions for every spot you move to. Entries on the intricate and bizarre biology that grow in detail and understanding as you find more pieces and analyze more things.

- Its like. The entire mechanic of- you put together entries about each plant or creature or organism, piece together information in walls of text, and when you finally learn enough, you are rewarded- with a sketch, a visual representation of the thing you have been reading beautifully worded entries of, something you have been imagining and visualizing.
- You are reading, and scanning, and gathering, and imagining and theorizing. And then you, suddenly, can see it. You read about the shimmering veils of bioluminescence strung together in inky darkness, and then you see a rough sketch of an organism constructed out of blinking lights, metres long. You spent hours wading through waters reading about the way the light filters through water on the reef and the brilliantly colored plants sway in the waves and suddenly you see a sketch of one of the leaves. Fast moving dots described as winged, fast moving creatures, and you document their burrows and their paths and their food and then. A rough scientists sketch of one.

- The whole game. Feels like that progression- a slow sense of awe. Repetitive, intentional steps, unfolding into pictures.
- You are the only thing like you, in the whole game. An observer learning the world. You are alone, but not exactly. You are a guide, acting as the eyes and hands and leader for someone you only know through text. Ellery talks to you through text prompts, and not always- but she does talk to you.
- You are her hands and eyes- you scan and move and decide where to go and monitor the oxygen and power to keep her safe and fetch all the samples. She is your hands, and eyes- she describes each new point you move to with painstaking detail, describing the sand swirling in water or light glittering, or the way darkness closes in, or the way bioluminescence throws shadows. She notes down the information and processes the samples and is the one to write the entries and turns all the data into something real.
- You move Ellery around the whole game, act in service of her, but she feels very distinct from you- secrets of her own and backstory you have to earn from her even though you guys move as one unit.
- And you learn about Ellery, and Minae, and. man. man.
- The way the screen changes with different biomes- the colors and the music shifting. The way that the layout stays the same but you feel the differences. Deep darkness alleviated by points of light. Open, sunny sands with swaying vegetation. A choking, cloying algae bloom.
- The UX stays the same, for all of these. The color, and indicators of topography are all that changes. But you feel the differences.
- Look, the mechanics are- finicky. A little unintuitive. Occasionally frustrating. But it feels right- like operating a clunky control board to steadily map an unknown space. You learn it, clumsily, and you get the motions down until it feels right. Navigation is- at times slow, and tedious, and confusing. There aren't really shortcuts to navigate through the different sections. But that feels right too.
- The game itself is not always fun to play. But it is rewarding, and it feels worth it.
- There's a whole ocean of inexplicable, alien life! And you get to explore it in a way that feels so intentionally, lovingly crafted. I don't know what to say beyond that. What. A fucking treat.

... also the plot about corporations fucking up ecosystems because of the never ending desire for profit and the destructive impact of thoughtless corporate greed. so. you know.
#god. what a game.#in other waters#game completion hurrah#sysgaming#sysfandoming#?#damn thats two games in two days. wild times 4 me#fascinating to come online and see this apparently getting some traction. im THRILLED about it i really wanted to see more buzz about this#and wrote this post with that intent so! mission accomplished lmfao 🫡#its been months since i wrote this but i stand by every bit of it. hope folks who are enticed by this and play it enjoy it!

The Columbia House, Sims 4 version
So, a while ago @codename-adler made a post asking people to drop their hcs for what the house in Columbia looks like, and since I was in the mood to play the Sims that day, I figured it would be a fun exercise to try and build what I picture in the game. It took me forever to finish it once I had figured out what I what I basically wanted it to look like, but here it is:

Before sitting down to work on this I roughly scoured the books for what scant descriptions there are to be as accurate as possible, and this is what I found: There is a downstairs bathroom and it has a window (specifically between the shower and the sink), the twins' rooms are upstairs on opposite sides of the hall, Nicky is downstairs past the stairs (as seen from the living room), the living room and kitchen are connected, and there is both a living room and a den. Also there has been no mention of a formal dining room afaik but there is a table in the kitchen, so that is what I went with. Also no garage, just a driveway.
Further I figured the house was pretty blandly suburban, probably a little older and smaller to make it cheap, so that is stylistically what I went with. The living room is open to the hallway and split level, half because of the age thing, and it also influenced the way I went about furnishing the house. I figured Nicky and the twins had probably sourced most of their furniture either from cheap stores (like ikea) or got older stuff for cheap from yard sales and the like, and otherwise I tried to capture an early 2000s vibe. So, here's the floorplan:

A more detailed house tour (and a lot of me rambling) below 👇
First the downstairs hallway. Not much to be said about it: There's a small console to the side for keys and mail and a mat by the door for shoes, plus some plants to make it look a little nicer. Imagine there are family pictures in the frames over the stairs. (I gotta say I do love love the retro vibes of the door though.)

Next up is the den. While half the reason the living room is open concept is the imagined age of the house, this room is the other half. Before I started this, I wasn't sure if there was a difference between a living room and a den, so when Neil heads to the den to sleep at the end of tfc I imagined him heading to some sort of living room space - and then thought it would be nice if there was a direct line of sight to the front door where Andrew was on the porch, keeping an eye on the others, so that Neil isn't fully removing himself from the small family moment they're all having. But since I wanted to be accurate I googled it, and turns out I'm wrong. However, since the den is at the front of the house you kind of have a view on the driveway from the recliners, so the hc is somewhat intact ;)
Also the octagonal shape of the room half killed me because it made the roof all weird and that influenced the upstairs bathroom and it was a whole thing. But I was looking around the game neighborhood for inspiration for the outside and saw this octagonal front room and fell in love, so I had do it. For the furniture it's canon that there are at least two recliners, and I imagined it to be this smaller secondary family room/computer room, hence the small, old TV and desk. The computer is probably a little older than would be realistic, but I couldn't bring myself to give them the imo even more unrealistic tower with a flatscreen monitor, so it is what it is. The Sims 4, despite not being that new, is pretty bad with 2000s era furniture.

Then we have the infamous downstairs bathroom and the probably most detailed description of anything in the house. The window sits between the shower and the sink and is frosted. Unfortunately that isn't an option in the sims, so I put up some shades. But otherwise it's a pretty small and simple room.

The living room was a lot of fun. I tried to make it colorful because I feel like Nicky would try to make it look cheerful, and it's also where we have some of the biggest mixing of aesthetics. On the one hand there's an old cabinet, but then we also have some Billy bookshelves and a very cluttered Lack coffee table (side note why tf do I know all of these Ikea names?) and the most 2000s standing lamp in the back (I swear we had one of these). The armchairs I feel like are something picked up from a yard sale while the couch is more new. The fireplace is original to the house. And then of course there is a hi-fi system in the back. In game that's just a record player, I think, but realistically they would have at the very least a cd and casette player on top of that.

Next is the kitchen, which in my original draft was included in the open living plan, but that felt too open, so I changed it to an archway (in addition to changing the layout some). The cabinets are very old, the fridge and stove very basic and clunky, and I feel like that sort of glass dining table is a very 2000s thing (although I may be wrong about that). Now looking at the screenshots I think the chairs might be a little too contemporary, but I'm not about to go back and change anything. It's a very yellow room, but it fits with the generall blue/green/yellow color scheme I mostly went for with the house. Cheerful but in a pretty inoffensive way. This room is also the only one where I used some CC, because I just had to have a wall phone and the Sims 4 just does not have older technology.

And for the last downstairs room we have Nicky's bedroom. This is one of my favorite rooms in the whole house, and it came together so easily once I had the bed picked out, it was really fun. This is the most color in all of the house, which I felt fits Nicky, and then I went for this sort of hybrid adult/teen aesthetic because he's sort of caught in that transition phase. On the one hand we have a cleaner look, a framed painting, centered bed, nothing too messy despite the loud colors, but then in the corner we just have the pride flag and some posters taped to the wall in a way that looks very leftovers from a teen/young adult phase. Also please imagine there is a picture of Erik in the photo frame in that corner.

Then we're moving upstaris with a very uninspiring first look at the hallway. Nothing really here, a hall closet and a plant but otherwise not much effort put in here. I do wanna say that in reall life the measurements of the house would be a lot different and so this space would probably be smaller (i tried to make it so with the closet, but it still feels a little big)

The upstairs bathroom(s) unfortunately suffered from the roof that sits around it, making it take up more space than I wanted it to. I think realistically it would all be one big room, with the laundry next to the showertub combo and the toilet beside the double sink, but because that would have been too little going on for the size the room would have taken up in game, I split it up into a separate toilet, laundry in the hallway extension, and then the bathroom with the tub and the double sink. I do like the decals in the toilet room, I think either those are leftover from previous owners of the house and Nicky refused to take them down or he put them up in order to make the room look a little less boring and the twins absolutely hate them. I also really like the brown color scheme of the tiles, it looks very old fashioned and I like that.

And lastly the twins' bedrooms. First up, Aaron: I picked green and black for the color scheme and then the very light wood color that all of this very basic Ikea furniture comes in to lighten up the room somewhat. The layout is also very open, so that the black doesn't come across as too oppressive. Here we also again have like on the one hand some framed prints to seem a little more sophisticated mixed with just posters put up over the desk. I went with a gamer theme for those, which given the canon presence of a gaming console (not pictured in the living room) felt right. Like obviously it belongs to all of them, probably, but also if I had to pick who uses it the most that's Aaron. Also making these rooms I developed this hc that the beanbags in the dorm are just taken from the twins' rooms, so I made sure to give each of them one.

And last but not least, probably my favorite room in the house because I'm biased af: Andrew. I legit got a little emotional furnishing this because I love him and it was so fun to imagine what his room would look like. The main color is obviously black, and the basic furniture is all the same as in Aaron's room, just in a black swatch. The whole thing imo teeters between cozy and overwhelming, and the layout certainly adds to that with the Kalax separating the room instead of being shoved to the side. But when I put the furniture down before moving it to its intended places I sort of just had it standing there and it felt right. I'm not sure if in actuality Andrew would dislike not being able to see the door or if he would prefer having an obstacle like that between the bed and door, but I do like the effect it creates. Then we got this punching bag which I also felt he probably would appreciate, and lastly in my head the red wall is because Nicky put his foot down on painting the whole room black and so Andrew picked the most aggressive, terrible red just to be contrarian (but it does match with some of the posters and the punching bag and everything). Also over both of the twins' beds is the closest the game has to glow in the dark stars, which I imagine Nicky put up and while they complain that they're not little kids they actually do love those a lot.

And finally some close ups of some areas/details that I loved putting together:

And that's it. This has been a long post so I hope you enjoyed the pictures and all of my thoughts. I had a lot of fun building this, anyway, and this is the Columbia house in my head now lol.
EDIT: If you've made it this far first off, thanks for reading. Secondly, I finally got around to uploading (a slightly modified version of) this onto The Sims 4 gallery, so you can download and play in it if you want to. The lot is called "Monsters' Columbia House" and my ID is Line9599.

hi! A random ask about Brazil, only if you want to answer ofc :D
What’s it like down in Brazil? I live pretty far up north in a more isolated area so whenever I try to describe a big city or somewhere outside of America that is warm when writing I have no idea what I’m doing.
I have tried the internet before but I can never be too sure how accurate it is because you can make up literally anything, so a first hand perspective is really great. lol I hate describing places wrong bc as an Alaskan people get it so wrong when they describe it up here.
No, we don’t live in igloos lmao.
Is it true that there are macaws everywhere? *Cringing at self for the most generic question ever* it’s just so difficult to imagine such large and colorful birds flying around like nobody’s business in huge flocks.
Are Brazilian cities the types of cities that have trees and random wildlife wandering, or is it like a very well monitored city space with minimal wildlife wandering about?
we have moose up here munching on our decorative trees in our front yards 🥲
I have not lived in Brazil in over 6 years, but I think I am still qualified to answer this XD
12 years of experience is still experience, and I also go visit family, duh Anyway, I'll put it under the cut cuz I just KNOW this is going to get long XD
I get wanting to write accuretly, so feel free to ask more specific stuff! Even if it's stereotypical or whatever, I love talking about my home country!! And people won't learn if they don't ask the "stupid" questions first.
But okay, so I just have to make one thing clear, and that Brazil is HUGE!! So my experience will be vastly different from someone else's, unless they lived where I lived. I do have the bonus fact that I had family scattered across Brazil, so I've visted plenty of different parts of Brazil.
It's not just weather that changes, but culture too. One great example is the culture and weather difference between where I lived and where my paternal granparents lived. I'm from Goiás, they're from Rio Grande do Sul. Goiás is a desert place while RS is a lot more similar to Portugal (and probably why I ended up getting used to the weather here so easily). Culture wise, RS has a lot of italian immagrants, so the culture revolves around that. Goiás is... I honestly don't know how to describe Goiás XD. Very uh... cowboyish?
But imma stick mainly to my hometown. Most of Brazil is hot, but it's mainly the places in the center as we cross straight through the equator, the hottest point of earth. It's basically summer all year round, no kidding. It never snows, and the best we get is rain. And when it rains, oh BOY is it a storm! Literally! We aren't exactly ready for that kind of weather. My school flooded once and it was a whole ordeal, streats became rivers and some kids even had to stay behind at school until it was safe to drive again. Every time it rained, 9/10 times school was cancelled. And they were often sudden too. It's why when we moved here and it rained almost every day, I'd get freaked out at school and panic worrying if we'd be able to get back home or not.
I've heard it's been getting colder back home though, so like... idk, climate change or something.
Tempertures could go up to 50ºC, most days would go around 30-40, colder days would be around 10-20 (usually during winter, which btw, when it's winter in the US, it's summer for us and vice versa XD. Though you don't really notice if you lived where I lived). It's also worth mentioning Goiás is pretty dry, dryer than a desert sometimes. So getting nose bleeds was a very common experience, to the point I never treated it as a big deal or didn't understand why it was for some. It was mostly an inconvinience.
And yes, it is very, very much true that we have macaws everwhere XD. Well, mainly the more tropical parts of Brazil. I can't recal seeing as many macaws when visiting my family in the south, though the south does get colder (and even soemtimes have shallow snow), and I usually visited during winter because winter is when we had vacation, so they probably migrated lmao. They still had it though.
Even in big cities, usually in national parks, you'll see all types of colorful birds. Saw a bunch of toucans just driving back from school to my grandma's home. And when I woke up at my grandma's home (my maternal grandma lived in the same city as us), I'd wake up to the sound of macaws (the most accurate depiction of this was actually done in Stardew Valley. When I first went to Ginger Island and stayed there long enough that the background music stopped and there were only the macaws making noise left, I burst into tears because it reminded me so much of my grandma's home) I didn't wake up to any noise like that because I lived in an apartment, most apartments aren't nowhere nears any wild life, and even if they were, it's too high up for you to hear any noise lol
And to answer the next question, yes, even big cities we have a lot of wildlife. Though not all wild life is the big green trees, sometimes it's sand and dried trees XD. And for animals wandering around, kind of? Again, they mostly stayed within the parks. We had HUGE parks absolutely everywhere, but they were often self contained. I remember one time while stuck in traffic, I watched as this lady had her groceries get stolen by a monkey LMAO.
But no, they don't wander around the city, they stay within the parks. But like, also I guess depends on the city. I am a city girl, my city was HUGE! Not the biggest city, but pretty big and industrial, but we still had a lot of wildlife scattered about.
But still, yeah, compared to cities in the US, I guess you could say it's pretty diverse.

Anime Dubs My Beloved
Dubs are at the intersection of both technical and artistic skill and that's left me in awe for the past year and a half sooo lemme just kinda gush about this medium[?], for a sec I grew up watching anime [sub & dub] and for the longest time I didn't have a clue about how dubs got made beyond "words must fit lip movements" and "actors record separately", never in a million years would've thought sight-reading was a part of it! So imagine being in a booth ye? You got your script monitor and another monitor displaying the animated stuffs you'll be dubbing over. You've never seen the script until this moment and you've likely never even seen the footage before either. The director sets the scene for you so you have the needed context and of course a script writer writes with the flaps in mind, but at the end of the day it's on you to get the timing right, the performance right, the believability right [with or without other ppl's dialogue recorded depending on when your session was relative to your fellow castmates], and you're juggling all of this all while not getting to rehearse the scene beforehand. Maybe I'm just nerding out here, but to me being able to do that's really heckin cool! Finding out that most of the directors and script adapters are also VAs themselves has also been fun. I'd just be sitting there watchin' AoT, absolutely demolishing some hot wings, glance at the credits ,and go : "Script Writer Aaron Dismuke? ...wait he wha" [This discovery would singlehandedly send me spiraling down a dub-shaped rabbit hole I have yet to crawl my way out of] But while I think I know a lot more than I did as a kid, there's still so much about the process that I definitely don't know about yet. That ignorance is a lil frustrating tbh because i'd love to know more about the translation, audio engineering, directorial, and audio mixing parts of the operation ~FOR SCIENCE!~ And by "FOR SCIENCE!" I mean for my own peace of mind, and by "for my own peace of mind" I mean so that I could write about the process more confidently and accurately. This interest in the whole shebang is also why you might see me geek out abt or draw ppl who've adapted/voiced in my favorite shows at some point, the art stuff's sort of a side-effect of when I get way too invested in a subject~ Even in dubs where the script is kinda meh or I dislike a character's voice or a VA's delivery, I can still enjoy most of them on a technical level. Thankfully, dubs these days are pretty good on both fronts so I've been eatin' good ^^ Also PS; I am begging on my hands and knees to get a good look at an anime dub script, not even one for an actual existing property, I legit just wanna know the formatting of one. PS PS; I can tell from blurry snippets of Funimation/Crunchyroll bts stuffs that it looks like a spreadsheet with timecodes and a few different colored cells but no clue of what the values are. PS PS PS; I eventually found one well after writing this draft [courtesy of @thereubeh on twitter]

These compact and versatile screens have become a game-changer for professionals, students, gamers, and digital nomads alike.
As more people work remotely or travel frequently, the demand for on-the-go productivity tools has never been higher. Lightweight Portable Monitors offer a perfect solution by providing additional screen space without adding bulk. If you’re tired of switching between tabs or feel limited by your laptop screen, a lightweight second monitor could be the upgrade you didn’t know you needed.
The Evolution of the Portable Monitor
Just a few years ago, setting up a second screen meant dealing with large, heavy monitors and messy cables. Now, thanks to advancements in screen technology and USB-C connectivity, Lightweight Portable Monitors have made multi-screen setups effortless and accessible to everyone. These monitors are slim, sleek, and typically weigh less than a kilogram, making them ideal for carrying in a backpack or briefcase.
Beyond being physically light, they’re also light on power consumption. Most models draw power directly from your laptop or device, eliminating the need for an external power source. This makes them highly convenient, especially for travel and mobile workstations.
Why Portability Matters
Modern users demand flexibility. Whether you’re working from home, a café, a co-working space, or an airport lounge, your tools need to move with you. Lightweight Portable Monitors are designed exactly for that lifestyle. Their portability helps you stay efficient wherever you go.
If you're someone who frequently delivers presentations, teaches online classes, or manages multiple tasks at once, having a second screen that’s easy to carry can be a massive productivity booster. These monitors allow you to multitask efficiently—imagine running a video call on one screen and taking notes or referencing documents on the other.
Versatile and Compatible with Multiple Devices
One of the best features of Lightweight Portable Monitors is their compatibility. Whether you use a Windows PC, a MacBook, a gaming console, or even a smartphone, many modern portable monitors are equipped with USB-C and HDMI ports that work with a wide range of devices.
You don’t need to be tech-savvy to use them either. Most models are plug-and-play, meaning there’s no need to install drivers or mess around with complicated settings. You just connect and start using it instantly.
Touchscreen variants are also available for those who prefer direct interaction. These are especially popular with creative professionals such as designers and illustrators who benefit from tactile input.
Designed for Multiple Use-Cases
The beauty of Lightweight Portable Monitors lies in their versatility. They are not just for work. Students can use them for online classes and note-taking simultaneously. Gamers can enjoy an immersive experience with a portable screen that offers crisp visuals. Content creators benefit from color-accurate displays when editing videos or designing graphics. Even casual users can enjoy a second screen for watching movies or managing their social feeds while working.
Because of their light weight and compact size, these monitors can be easily adjusted or repositioned depending on your workspace. Some models even come with built-in stands or foldable covers that double as stands, adding to their convenience.
Visual Quality Without Compromise
A common misconception is that portable screens sacrifice quality for size. However, that’s far from the truth. Many Lightweight Portable Monitors offer Full HD or even 4K resolution, vibrant color reproduction, and wide viewing angles thanks to IPS technology. Whether you're editing photos, gaming, or watching movies, you won’t be disappointed with the visual experience.
Some advanced models also come with features like HDR support, touchscreen capability, and blue light filters to reduce eye strain. These extras make them a complete package for anyone who values high-quality visuals on the move.
Ideal for Remote Work and Travel
Remote work is here to stay, and with it comes the need for a more efficient and comfortable working setup. Lightweight Portable Monitors are ideal for digital nomads who move between locations. You can set up a dual-screen workstation anywhere, helping you stay productive while maintaining the freedom to work from your preferred environment.
Business travelers especially benefit from these monitors. Imagine preparing reports on one screen while referencing data on another during a flight or hotel stay. With minimal setup required and no extra power source needed, it’s easy to see why more professionals are turning to portable monitors.

Small-pitch LED large screen: illuminates the vista, not just "small"
In recent years, in the field of LED display, a "small" trend is surging, that is, the small-pitch LED large screen. You may often see them in various high-end occasions: the clear background wall of the TV studio, the accurate real-time picture of the command and control center, the delicate presentation content of the high-end conference room, and even in some commercial displays that pursue the ultimate experience.

So, what exactly is a small-pitch LED large screen? Why can it be so popular? Today, let’s talk about the heart-warming advantages of small-pitch LED large screens.
See the big in "small": more refined picture quality, more shocking visual experience
As the name suggests, "small spacing" means that the distance between LED lamp beads is very small. This tiny distance brings the most direct advantage - higher pixel density. Imagine that on a screen of the same size, the more pixels the more, the more delicate and clear the picture will naturally become. Let you understand how LED light beads work.
This is like when we look at photos, photos with high pixels have richer details and will not show obvious graininess after enlargement. This is exactly the case with a large, small-pitch LED screen, which can present extremely high resolution and bring every detail in the picture to life. Whether it is the subtle expressions of the characters or the complex chart lines, they can be clearly visible. The immersion and visual impact brought by this delicate picture quality are incomparable to traditional display devices.

The "true" color is wonderful: a wider color gamut, a more realistic color restoration
Small-pitch LED large screens usually use high-quality LED chips and advanced driving technology to achieve a wider color gamut. This means it can display richer and brighter colors, making the picture look more vivid and fuller. Let you learn about LED chips: technology, application and development.
At the same time, small-pitch LEDs also perform well in color restoration, which can accurately present the original color and avoid color casts and distortions. This is particularly important for industries that require extremely high color, such as radio and television, design and creativity. Imagine how wonderful that experience is to be able to see pictures with full colors and clear details when watching a nature documentary.

"Seamless" vision: higher flatness, more perfect splicing effect
For application scenarios where super-large display screens are required, splicing is inevitable. Traditional display technology often has obvious black edges at the splicing, affecting the integrity and aesthetics of the picture.
The small-pitch LED large screen adopts seamless splicing technology, which can minimize the splicing gaps and even achieve a "seamless" effect that is almost invisible to the naked eye. This makes the entire screen look like a complete picture, not divided by black edges, bringing a more shocking and coherent visual experience. This advantage is particularly prominent in situations such as command and monitoring, exhibitions, etc. where a complete large picture is needed. Provide you with small pitch LED display price and purchase guide.
"Stable" is like a rock: higher reliability, longer service life
Small-pitch LED large screens usually use stricter standards and higher quality materials during the design and manufacturing process. This makes it more stable and reliable, can operate stably for a long time, and is not prone to failure.
At the same time, LEDs themselves have a long service life. After reasonable maintenance and use, the small-pitch LED large screen can work for tens of thousands of hours, greatly reducing the cost of post-maintenance and replacement. This is undoubtedly an important advantage for commercial and industrial applications that require long-term use.

"Smart" is in control: more flexible control and more convenient operation experience
With the development of technology, the control system of small-pitch LED large screens is becoming more and more intelligent. Users can perform flexible screen segmentation, signal switching, content management and other operations through software to meet various display needs. Let you understand the technological evolution of LED screens.
Some advanced small-pitch LED large screens also have functions such as intelligent correction and remote monitoring, which further improves the convenience of use and management efficiency. This allows users to control the large screen more easily and achieve various complex display effects.
"Adapt" to the future: broader application prospects and stronger environmental adaptability
Small-pitch LED large screens are being increasingly widely used in various fields with their excellent performance. From high-end conference rooms to museum exhibition halls, from commercial advertisements to stage performances, it can be seen in almost all scenes that require high display effects.
At the same time, with the continuous advancement of technology, small-pitch LED large screens are constantly breaking through their own limitations, such as significantly improving in brightness, contrast, protection levels, etc., so that they can adapt to more complex and harsh environments. It can be foreseen that the application prospects of small-pitch LED large screens will be broader in the future.
Thank you for watching. I hope we can solve your problems. Sostron is a professional LED display manufacturer. Disney fans, get ready for an intergalactic adventure like never before when the revamped ride reopens in 2026! Here’s everything you need to know about the thrilling updates coming to this iconic attraction!

A Galactic Overhaul
For over two decades, Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin has been a favorite for families and competitive gamers alike, offering guests the chance to join Star Command and battle the Evil Emperor Zurg. Now, Disney Imagineers are taking this interactive dark ride to the next level with cutting-edge technology, new characters, and enhanced gameplay features. Whether you're a seasoned Galactic Hero or a first-time Space Cadet, these updates promise to make your mission even more immersive and exciting!
What’s Changing? The Highlights
Disney has announced several key upgrades that will elevate the experience for all Space Rangers: 1. A Brand-New Show Scene Featuring Buddy The adventure begins with the introduction of Buddy, a cheerful robot created by Walt Disney Imagineering and Pixar Animation Studios. Buddy will greet riders as they prepare for their mission, offering encouragement and performing final systems checks on their Star Cruisers. This new scene also doubles as a practice area where guests can hone their aim using interactive target features before taking off to battle Zurg! 2. Redesigned Ride Vehicles The Star Cruisers are getting a futuristic makeover inspired by Buzz Lightyear and Star Command colors. Each vehicle will now feature video monitors providing real-time scoring updates—a game-changer for competitive riders aiming for Galactic Hero status. The sleek new design also includes upgraded seating for enhanced comfort! 3. Handheld Blasters for Precision Gameplay Say goodbye to the mounted laser cannons! The revamped ride will introduce handheld blasters equipped with always-on lasers, making it easier for players of all ages to aim accurately. These blasters will come in two colors per vehicle and feature haptic feedback, lighting effects, and sound enhancements for a more tactile experience! 4. Interactive Targets Static Z-targets are being replaced with dynamic targets that react when hit—lighting up and triggering animations. This upgrade not only boosts immersion but also opens up opportunities for Imagineers to incorporate surprise gameplay elements in the future!
Why These Updates Matter
The overhaul of Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin reflects Disney’s commitment to blending storytelling with cutting-edge technology. By introducing interactive features like Buddy and dynamic targets, Disney is creating an experience that appeals to both casual riders and hardcore gamers. The addition of real-time scoring monitors ensures that every rider can track their progress throughout the mission—a feature that fans have long requested. Moreover, these updates align with broader trends at Disney parks worldwide as Imagineers continue to push the boundaries of ride interactivity. Similar innovations have been seen in attractions like Toy Story Midway Mania and Web Slingers: A Spider-Man Adventure, proving that Disney is dedicated to enhancing guest engagement.

What Sets These Updates Apart?
While other articles focus on the technical aspects of the refurbishment, here are some unique insights: - Buddy’s Role Beyond Gameplay: Buddy isn’t just a support-bot; he represents Disney’s growing emphasis on character-driven experiences within rides. His personality adds warmth and humor, making the pre-ride scene feel like an integral part of the story rather than just a tutorial. - Accessibility Improvements: The handheld blasters are designed with younger riders in mind, ensuring that even little Space Rangers can actively participate in defeating Zurg. This thoughtful design makes the ride more inclusive. - Future Potential: Imagineers hinted at additional surprises tied to the interactive targets—perhaps Easter eggs or hidden challenges that could change based on seasonal events or park-wide celebrations.

Tips for Guests Before Closure
If you’re planning a trip before August 2025, make sure to ride Buzz Lightyear’s Space Ranger Spin one last time in its current form! Here are some tips: - Aim for Galactic Hero Status: Practice your aim on key targets like Zurg’s chest plate and the triangular shapes scattered throughout. - Capture Memories: Take photos inside the ride queue and onboard your Star Cruiser—these moments will become nostalgic treasures once the updates are complete. - Plan Ahead: With construction expected throughout 2025, keep an eye on Lightning Lane availability for other Tomorrowland attractions like Space Mountain.

A Bright Future for Tomorrowland

With these exciting updates slated for 2026, Disney is ensuring that this attraction remains a cornerstone of Tomorrowland for years to come! So mark your calendars, Space Rangers! Artificial intelligence has become a driving force in fashion marketing, with brands increasingly relying on AI to craft campaigns tailored to specific audiences. At first glance, it may seem impossible for a computer program to understand what you need in your wardrobe or how to help a brand stand out on social media. The secret, however, lies in data and sophisticated algorithms. AI tools analyze consumer behavior, purchasing habits, and digital engagement patterns to create highly targeted campaigns. Just as a QuillBot vs. Turnitin comparison highlights the differences in AI-driven writing tools, the effectiveness of AI in fashion marketing also depends on the algorithms and data sources used. This underscores the importance for brands to carefully evaluate which AI tools align best with their marketing goals. AI In Fashion Marketing: Campaigns For Varied Groups Imagine a world where AI identifies the latest color trends before fashion magazines do. That world is already here. AI analyzes vast amounts of data from social media, sales records, and online interactions to help brands craft campaigns that resonate with specific audiences. This data-driven approach personalizes marketing efforts, making advertisements feel relevant to consumers across different demographics. Additionally, AI boosts digital marketing by optimizing ad placements and enhancing engagement through tailored messaging. Rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all approach, brands use AI-powered insights to refine their content strategy, ensuring each campaign feels personalized and compelling. The Benefits Of AI In Fashion Marketing Fashion brands leveraging AI gain several key advantages: Better Customer Understanding – AI analyzes data from various channels, uncovering consumer preferences and shopping patterns. Optimized Ad Placements – Algorithms identify the best platforms and timing for online ads, ensuring maximum exposure. so i got this monitor (like 2 years ago now um wow, ) because the colors were calibrated to be accurate from the factory and by now i probably have to re calibrate it but i need a little fucking screen reader to do that accurately but i would also read about how to do that properly and i am very lazy recently. my set up is only one monitor. i also want one in portrait orientation because it looks cool although i can't imagine how id use that because im not a streamer or anything. i guess have some references up on the other screen while drawing but i havent been drawing recently. theres unlimited fucking possibilities

like, alright. with The Elf, i have been jiggering her design for 100 years.
first of all, it's not even that complicated, right. i mean, she's wearing practical pants and riding boots and then a blouse. a cloak overtop. there's much to do here, but it isnt very complicated. it's acceptable. and yet my issues begin here. i would change EVEN THAT if it wouldnt be a retcon.
she began life as a generic character who i expected to survive a few weeks until the pathfinder experiment petered out. so i didnt really think about it, and just gave her the most generic description possible:
and thus my fate was sealed. fucking blouses. Fuck! i'm pretty sure i picked a blouse solely because i was wearing a blouse when i wrote that and didn't want to think about it. (PROJECTED LIFESPAN: A FEW WEEKS). if i'd known any better i would've dressed her in something like this:
"but isnt she in a desert?" you cry. sure, yeah, but its not like she ever went outside right. she had WORK CLOTHES that were made for going outside, which i dont imagine were any more fancy than a wifebeater and her riding pants (maybe a riding jacket, but she wouldnt keep it on). otherwise she'd absolutely be one of those rich people whose wardrobe revolves around looking nice indoors.
so yeah. She is in a desert, and if i (robin 2025) had my druthers she'd just be constantly hot all the time. elf is NOT a minimalist and she is NOT a practical person. this is someone who likes couture and needs you to know that their aesthetic tastes are refined and 100 layers deep.
but we have this BLOUSE thing going on, so we'd ought to stick with it. when i was in her generic character era i chose to give her a bib blouse because i lowkey wanted her to have a jabot, but didn't feel like drawing one all the time:
very simple, very easy to draw.
i didn't have as much sense of her opinions on aesthetic back then and thought to myself that she wouldn't choose something very dressy, just something which was obviously expensive based on the tailoring and fabric (needs you to know that she is wealthy, doesn't want to look necessarily like she's showing off). That just isn't true in 2025. I've since figured it out. She has no sense of the concept of overdressing and will wear whatever gaudy little thing she likes. Yes, even into the apocalypse wasteland.
And then she had jeans and some boots i saved off pinterest several years prior. because two weeks.
but then some time passes, she's still kicking, she is my little guy. i draw her in my notebooks and everything. and i think to myself Hm. this situation is really visually uninteresting for a character who theoretically would've blown all her disposable income on buying nice clothes. also i get a new monitor and i realize that every color it ever displayed was really yellow-green and it had some weird fucking thing with saturation going on. i suddenly understand what another artist was trying to tell me about the colors i had chosen (embarrassing...!)
so we have this COLOR situation and this BLOUSE situation. how can we make a BLOUSE (WHICH WE ARE LOCKED INTO) more interesting...?
well, dear reader... around here i also started thinking more about her as an actual character, and decided that i'd begin to explicitly model her speech after the way Jane Austen characters talk... and i thought to myself, it'd actually be somewhat interesting if her society at large had regency social leanings, rather than just having a bunch of guys who, because they're imitating a human culture they encountered hundreds of years in the past, are stuck talking in an antiquated manner... and i want her design to maybe reflect her coming from a culture which is stuck in the past, in a setting which (presumably) would have non-modern-looking clothing as a baseline.
now we start looking at victorian / edwardian / regency fashion. yes those are all very distinct I KNOW OKAY. the general veneer of antiquity is enough for me i'm not going to be period accurate over my elf. Grow up
and it turns out victorian women's blouses were a little lame and they didnt really wear them outside or something. so i just kind of ad-libbed some ruffles and paneling which i thought made it LOOK old-fashioned. like this although i dont draw the top panel with ruffles around it. maybe i should.
and, you know, this character is kind of UPTIGHT. so maybe things ride high on her. like her pants are high rise, and her boots go up to the knees. maybe i give her shirt a collar so even her neck is covered. this marks my transition from regular jeans into jodhpurs, which were the riding pants of the victorian era. i know this because i found them in a victorian tailoring book where they were labeled RIDING PANTS. i made them high-waisted which required me to reference fantasy larper steampunk pants more than anything, because jodhpurs of the time had this weird panel on the front instead of like, a zipper (but they also had a belt somehow? i don't know.)
and imo it looked pretty bad, but i was really married to this. The boots looked good, at least. Boots always looks good.
unfortunately reference images for these suck and i couldnt really decide what the seat was supposed to BE. is the riding seat on the jodhpurs another layer beneath the fabric or is it sewn on top or what the hell is going on? many questions confounded me. one of my friends said she looked like an oompa loompa and i knew i couldn't stick with the jodhpurs.
then i watch this sergio leone movie and i realize that all these guys are wearing seated riding pants...
cool flared bottoms, cool shape.... what the... what's that on the side?
these guys have lace cutouts on their riding pants??
so now she has western riding pants and a pseudo-victorian blouse. you know what this is fine. The elf is someone who can't decide whether she wants to be anprim or whether she wants to academically study nature from a basement. you could argue that she did decide because she left the basement, but i'd rebut that she left the basement due to the basement's location, and her ultimate goal is probably just to find a different basement elsewhere. like, she's anti-civilization, but she also loves clothes and all the amenities of civilization. so sure. her design can look a little incongruous to reflect that. Plus, with that lace thing going on, we can probably make even the riding pants look posh...
...
......
how do you draw lace?
in order to ignore this question, i spent some time theorizing about incorporating insect motifs (because she studies beetles). like what if the lace had wing patterning? what if i made the ends of her sleeves cut like elytra and then had a shear trail of lighter cloth coming out of it like wings? et cetera. i gave her a bowtie and tried making the elytra-wing thing happen there too, but it was pissing me off too much, so i gave her a regular bowtie. this bowtie was later downgraded to the type of tie that was common in the west, although i am really bad at drawing how thin it would actually be. the ends of the tie sit in a way that interrupts the ruffles and buttonline of her blouse and this still pisses me off but it's fine.
i changed her boots because the victorian riding boots weren't doing it for me anymore, and now she has western riding boots with the pointed toe and the massive heel. these look very pretentious on someone who's wearing lacey riding pants and a ruffley blouse, so that's fine. great. they're probably still knee-high but now her pants are too long to show this.
i also realize here that i can't actually make high-rise pants look normal. it kind of just looks like i don't know how long the torso is supposed to be. i cling to this for a while but every drawing sets the beltline a little lower. Uptightness factor lost.
You may note that i have never mentioned the cloak even once.
Dude.
I've tried to design this damn thing.
i know what kind of cloak its supposed to be. some sort of spanish cloak with a bone-supported neck like they did in the victorian era (not with cloaks, but they did do that with the necks of dresses using i think whalebone anyway thats not important). but holy fuck i made it shaped and also layered. and i know the general shape i want, yeah?
one of those. cool. very doable. Except that this character has it cut and embroidered in imitation of beetle wings.
i am not good with hanging cloth. I'll be honest. Hanging cloth stresses me out. and now this hanging cloth has a weird ass shape and a lot of finnicky lines. it's of a shear material so you can still see her stupid outfit underneath. there's not a way to draw the lines in that doesn't make the entire thing look horribly busy, or which makes the cloak actually look like it is a material and not just a transparent layer with opaque scribbles overtop it. I just do not know what to do there. I simply don't I am so rope's end with this goddamn cloak.
also, i know there's cuts in the side because she needs to hold weapons and shields and reins in that thing. i just ran out of steam just now so i will not elaborate further on the cloak. even thinking about it fatigues me.
anyway, to top it all off, i still haven't decided on a color scheme, really...

How Do Studio Monitors Compare to Regular Speakers for Mixing Music?
If you’ve ever dabbled in music production or thought about mixing your tracks, you’ve probably heard people mention studio monitors. But what exactly are they, and how do they differ from the regular speakers most of us are used to? Whether you’re new to audio production or just looking to upgrade your setup, understanding the key differences between these two types of speakers is essential for making the right choice.
Let’s break it down.
What Are Studio Monitors?
Studio monitors are specialized speakers designed for professional audio work like mixing, mastering, and recording music. Their main job is to provide a neutral and accurate sound that lets you hear your audio exactly as it is. Unlike regular speakers, which often enhance certain frequencies to make music sound more appealing, studio monitors aim to reproduce sound as faithfully as possible.
This accuracy helps musicians and producers catch subtle details and flaws in their work. For example, if there’s a tiny imbalance in the bass or a vocal that’s too loud, studio monitors will reveal it, ensuring the final mix sounds great on any device.

How Do Regular Speakers Work?
Most regular speakers are built for casual listening. They’re designed to make music sound good, not necessarily accurate. This often means boosting the bass, treble, or other frequencies to create a richer, more enjoyable listening experience. While this is perfect for jamming out to your favorite playlist, it’s not ideal for mixing music where precision is key.
For instance, if a regular speaker boosts the bass, you might end up lowering it too much during the mix. When the track plays on another device, it might sound thin or imbalanced. That’s why professionals prefer studio monitors for mixing—they provide a more honest representation of the sound.
Key Differences Between Studio Monitors and Regular Speakers
Let’s dive into the major ways studio monitors and regular speakers differ:
Frequency Response
Studio Monitors: Flat frequency response, meaning they don’t enhance or suppress any part of the audio spectrum. This neutrality is crucial for accurate mixing.
Regular Speakers: Often have a "colored" sound, with boosted bass or treble to make music more enjoyable for everyday listening.
Design and Placement
Studio Monitors: Designed for nearfield listening, which means they’re optimized for being placed close to the listener (like on a desk in a studio setup). This minimizes the impact of room acoustics.
Regular Speakers: Typically designed for far-field listening, like filling a living room with sound. They rely more on the acoustics of the room.
Purpose
Studio Monitors: Built for critical listening, allowing you to hear every detail, flaw, and nuance in your mix.
Regular Speakers: Designed for entertainment, making music sound "good" rather than accurate.
Price
Studio Monitors: Can be more expensive, especially at the high end, because they prioritize performance and accuracy.
Regular Speakers: Usually more affordable, as they’re mass-produced for general use.

Why Accuracy Matters for Mixing
Imagine you’re baking a cake, but your measuring cups are all inaccurate. Even if the cake turns out fine in your oven, it might not bake correctly in someone else’s. Mixing music is similar—if your speakers don’t give you an accurate picture of your audio, it might sound great in your studio but fall flat on other systems.
Studio monitors act like precise measuring tools, giving you confidence that your mix will translate well to other devices, whether it’s a car stereo, earbuds, or a home theater system.
When to Use Studio Monitors vs. Regular Speakers
Use Studio Monitors If:
You’re mixing or mastering music.
You need to hear every detail of your audio.
You’re working in a small studio or dedicated workspace.
Use Regular Speakers If:
You’re casually listening to music.
You’re hosting a party or need to fill a large room with sound.
You don’t need precise audio reproduction.
Tips for Setting Up Studio Monitors
If you decide to invest in studio monitors, proper setup is crucial to get the best results. Here are some tips:
Positioning: Place them at ear level and in an equilateral triangle with your listening position.
Room Treatment: Minimize reflections and echoes with acoustic panels or foam.
Calibration: Some monitors allow you to adjust settings to compensate for your room’s acoustics.
Use High-Quality Cables: Avoid cheap or poorly shielded cables that could introduce noise.
Choosing the right studio monitors can feel overwhelming with so many options out there. Professional audio shops like VIP PRO AUDIO are a great resource for expert advice and recommendations tailored to your needs. They often let you test different models, ensuring you find the perfect fit for your setup. Plus, buying from a reputable shop gives you peace of mind with warranties and customer support.
Final Thoughts
Studio monitors and regular speakers serve very different purposes. If you’re serious about music production, studio monitors are an essential investment for accurate mixing and mastering. Regular speakers, on the other hand, are perfect for enjoying music once the mixing process is done.
By understanding the strengths and limitations of each, you can make an informed decision that suits your needs. And remember, whether you’re setting up a home studio or upgrading your current gear, professional audio shops are your best bet for finding high-quality equipment that won’t let you down.
So, are you ready to take your music mixing game to the next level? It might be time to swap out those regular speakers for a pair of reliable studio monitors!
