a really important distinction between mumbo jumbo the man and mumbo jumbo the monster is that like cc!mumbo is NOT a gamer? hes a tad nerdy but hes more of a jock. you will meet the type in filmworld occasionally and he does enjoy computer specs and such and clearly enjoys the puzzle of redstone but he got into youtube via bmx videos he has always been a jocknerd. not a geeknerd. now. c!mumbo is like the least athletic man of all time if you asked him to do a one block jump he would crumple into a sort of soggy paper ball and wither away. and he is VERY nerdy about redstone even if he's relatively specialized into machines and not farms, hes still interested in all mechanics. c!mumbo jumbo is, also, of course, very into deathpranks, as is normal for hermits. its enriching.

grian is so funny to me because he is all about posturing and performing. he has a strict moral code that he came up with which is divorced from everyone else's sense of correctness, but he loathes this. he hates the rules. he came up with the rules. it's entirely unnecessary to follow the rules, because they're his rules. but he has to be Correct so even if he hates it he performs like he's following the rules, even if that means abusing loopholes that he invents within his own moral code. sometimes he forgets himself, too! like he's not always successful at performing Correctness. but then he'll go back and justify it (im not red so the trap on dogwarts wasnt my fault it was scars) (guys i had to betray you to help king ren because thems the rules!) (i had to kill jimmy and mumbo because they attacked me)... he has to make a show of dragging his feet because he often questions his own rules, why they even exist, or even outright disagrees with himself! but because Those Are The Rules he has to follow them

Taps the sign grian doesnt hate authority that is a major oversimplification grian actually really loves rules and authority he just also needs something to complain about like a vain little bird puffing up at itself in a glass reflection

i think it's disingenuous a lot of times to compare mcyt (at large) to actors acting or even truly edited actual play (which is more akin to Pure Mcrp). mcyts are playing a part insofar as any of us put on a public face, and play into kayfabe as the storytelling demands. what decisions they make, what they do with their edits, what vods they choose to upload even, all of this i think can be really blurry if we look at it in a c/cc model. what would it look like to sit in the uncomfortability of knowing that there is no true and pure correct ethical line between character and content creator? between IC and OOC? what would that mean for fandom and discussion? the existence of cc! as a marker is largely to avoid implying anything negative or stepping on toes of people, and i get that impulse to mitigate harm. i do. but is the model really useful outside of niche use cases? i think the unwillingness to be uncomfortable and read between the lines or engage with the idea that mcyters are people who make mistakes and sometimes do things that arent good contributes to an absolutely abysmal fandom environment. the c/cc divide does not help parasociality. it enhances it. and parasociality is natural! i think engaging with it from a levelminded perspective and acknowledging that it is bound to exist is leaps and bounds more healthy than whatever abstinence based horror show is happening in this paniopticonic fandom

mine is personally time loops where the solution is letting them go bc im normal abt "i want it back=i drag its dead weight forward" but what do u guys think
edit: also i MUST stress that this is what solves the time loop, not what the person is trying. like, the ideal solution for homura would not have been "lie down and trust madoka" but thats what happened

hermitcraft s11 leaks:
hoffen makes scar a skin with a mesh top (and nipples) & shorter shorts and gogo boots
grian builds a megabase based on LoL
mumbo is still a chicken and everyone acts like its normal. egg laying based fic increases by 200%
cubfan 0-cycles the dragon on hour two of the server
rendog starts dating renbob for "lore reasons" (mpreg optional but likely)
joe hills reads speak memory on stream but via a convoluted series of misunderstandings from 14 year olds on twitter gets cancelled for reading a nabokov book.
skizzpulse stage kiss @ charity stream
zedaph finishes a base (UNRELIABLE LEAKER)
zombiecleo is the first hermit on the season to get possessed but it isnt by anything armor stand related which is fine but i guess im just a bit disappointed

i think the thing that bothers me the most about mcyt sibling headcanons is not really that it's only done for hetero dynamics (see: misogyny) but that siblings become shorthand for a specific type of (good, positive, idilic) relationship. siblings are simple and good and they don't have complications and the dynamic is not ever dysfunctional or multifaceted, and there's never abuse involved. this is not only boring but is just, like, not how it works at all?
(in fact, the only sibling relationship that i see fan content for that is slightly more complicated than "siblings means guy and girl who get along but are silly sometimes!" is xornoth and scott, but even then, this is because xornoth is canonically a villain. (and xornoth and scott content is one of two things typically? A. scott is The Good Sibling and xornoth is Troubled but Ultimately Good and they Care About each other tho. and B. xornoth is BAD and beyond redemption but scott is sad about it and dont worry hes not culpable at all tho!))
anyway it's crazy to me, and maybe it's because i have a really really weird and complicated sibling dynamic in my own life, but it's so deeply uncomfortable to see people conflate sibling with flat, one-dimensional good. sometimes, siblings don't like each other. sometimes they blame each other. sometimes they're violent to one another, sometimes they are codependent, sometimes they perpetuate cycles of abuse; they're all the ugly, complicated things that any relationship dynamic can be.
there's actually so much to say about this issue, but this is what is on my mind tonight.
