Norris wasn’t sure if his Waiting Room Friend was gay or a hipster. (The possibility that he might be a gay hipster, or even a metrosexual had also crossed his mind.) His Waiting Room Friend was short and fat and hairy and always dressed Mod-meets-modern or Peacock Revolution with the Technicolor toned down. Today’s outfit featured a chartreuse turtleneck and several strings of multicolor glass beads. His jacket– brown corduroy, with pointy lapels–was draped over one shapely, skinny-jean-clad thigh. His hair was wavy, tousled and dark. As always, he was stunning, but his clothes gave Norris zero concrete hints as to his sexuality. ... Their introductions had consisted of, “Can I get a light, big guy?” Norris had glanced over, seen nothing, and then looked down. “Oh. Sure.”  Despite his Waiting Room Friend being a foot shorter than him, it felt to Norris like it was the other way around. His presence was magnetic. It compelled him. They didn't even spend a lot of time together– just talking and smoking, leaning against the concrete pillars a little bit down the plaza –but the way he considered anything Norris had to say, however quietly or sporadically he said it, had Norris thinking about him long after they’d parted.

Chapter Five of my ongoing novel project is here! It's a long one! We learn a little about Norris' teenhood, meet his crush, & he & Rufus attempt to start their search for Rufus' apprentice, but run into a magical complication.

okay i'm like so sick in the head about the deltritans. so i've decided to try my hand at...theorizing? predicting? what deltritan *society* would be like. so! overall we're probably going to see...some measure of greek-inspired architecture. we can see dirk using a little greek temple as he's experimenting and quite literally worldbuilding. but considering GC's got a computer, odds are it is not going to be Ye Olde Detritus or anything like that. Here is where we must diverge with the species. Dirk's Satyrs, I think, could be the real mechanical species on Deltritus. Dirk likes making things, he's a roboticist, so I think his guys would follow suit. Odds are they're totally horse-like in some regards, so large open sprawling fields could be the ideal terrain for Satyr settlement. I imagine most practical and non-magical things are made by them (I'll get back to that magic thing later). I could also *totally* see...puppets! Puppets puppets puppets. Perhaps that's the art form of choice for the Satyrs! Imagine it: an amphitheater made with the pure intention of only the most serious and groundbreaking of the puppeteering arts. I think they're a very creative people. Perhaps the Space player will be among their number?

Now onto Rose's Nymphs...or whatever they'll be called. Anyways, we know at least they are aquatic, but I'd place my bets more on sub-aquatic. They can be in the water, or they can be on land. I don't think GC is underwater when we see them, at least. Now Rose Lalonde, as we all know, is a cat person. I speculate that the Nymphs are a mix between some sort of horrorterror/squiddle and a cat. And Rose also has a passion for *wizards*. Do you see where I'm going with this? I think where the Satyrs were more practical, physical inventors, the Nymphs are in reverse pioneers of great magics. Or magicks. Majyyks? I can totally see the Nymphs having some sort of natural aptitude for the arcane, and generally devoting themselves to the studying and gathering of knowledge as a whole.

Going off of these, if I was in charge of Deltritan worldbuilding, obviously there would've been some heavy warring between both sides, but odds are most likely that currently they're at peace. I don't think fully integrated, but at least things are being exchanged between both parties. The Nymphs get the technology of the Satyrs, and the Satyrs get the magic, wisdom, and knowledge of the Nymphs.

There's a LOT of wiggle room here though, I highly doubt any of this will happen, I haven't even taken into account what Terezi's commands might do, but like. This is what I'm thinking. I got a few more ideas here though so bear with me.

I think it'd be really interesting if Dirk decided to get in touch with and coach one of the Satyrs directly through the game. Get a new Dave, yeah? I also think Terezi might get in touch with a Deltritan too, I'd prefer for it to be the Time player for obvious reasons but any would do, and she'll similarly steer them like she did with Dave. And then, hear me out, we get a parallel to Terezi and Vriska's little competition they had between them and Dave and John, but with the Earth C kids and the Deltritans. Yeah? Yeah? Yeah?

Anyways um. thank you for reading. sorry i am so fucking insane about deltritus. i hope next upd8 we get to see GC or SOMEBODY from deltritus that isn't terezi dirk or rose. um. sparkle on

This one's a bit more varied than the previous Development Upd8! Rather than just showing off one character, I'm posting several!! From what I can tell, you guys seem rather fond of these characters- and for good reason so far!!

From left to right, we have...

Presae Covnul, our Knight of Void. When she's not suffering bouts of narcoleptic fatigue, she's keeping the game together with duct tape and tears! Though she may not be well versed in technology- to the point of being actively afraid of most electronics- that's certainly not stopping her from being a wizard at it. She's a bit of an anomaly, and likes hiding in dark places... But don't worry about that too much!

Emeric Sargas, our Bard of Mind. She's an oddball who wears her heart on her sleeve and toxic chemicals on her bare skin and hair! If there's one thing she prides herself on, it's her well-earned titles of Mad Scientist and Local Exterminator. Though she displays some... At times concerning behavior, she means well, and is a beloved and silly friend!

Annomi Errata, our Prince of Heart. A troubled young man from the depraved warzone called Chittr. He's a pessimistic media critic who longs to one day write his very own screenplay- and he's not taking "pipe dream" as an answer... For anything. Loneliness oft drives one to obsession, and prolonged participation in the Panopticon of Fame may dull some to the humanity of even their most beloved figures... Which may or may not be relevant.

upd8: -I love Epcot aka Adultland 'Canada is nothing like Canada' -40 minutes wait at Napoli in Italy only to find out the hostess hadn't even put in our ticket. Is this not homophobia -Got Litsney off the Gran Marnier slushies, drank varying beers, made buddies with a dude in the America pavilion who led me to the craft beer stand so I didn't have to drink fucking Bud Light -Wargreymon in Epcot was so cool but too tiny so no purchase -Thx @ the Japanese pearl diving station staff aka the happiest place on earth in the Japan pavilion Epcot After Dark aka when everyone leaves is resoundingly eerie -My girlfriend eating steak straight out the box from the refrigerator with no utensils this is me calling you out -We're en route to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter! -I'm gonna cry again
