I’m a mix of frustration and concern; frustration because I'm not out exploring Joshua Tree, but it’s the kind of concern that peers over the edge.

This thing just won’t start. The battery is dead, though that’s not completely unexpected as its the undersized, this’ll-do-in-a-pinch replacement that I bought in Lake Havasu. And, while it’s always been a hard starting motorcycle (no choke on this model), I can’t even get it to come close to catching with the kick starter. I even got the nice lady who cleans the rooms to let me try a jump start, and the old girl simply wouldn’t fire (the bike, not the maid).

Time for more drastic measures…
