Some tough potential narratives of how these could come to be - this doesnt have to be a narrative you think would happen, its just me thinking about how the ship would happen. If you have your own narrative, please comment/reblog it! :

Danny Hebert/Gregor the Snail:

Danny is the Head of hiring at the dockworkers union. His first encounter with Gregor occured when one of the workers approaches him for some off the record advice about some work his son has got. His son had been approached by a local cape to serve as a runner for neccesary day to day goods, and the worker was a tad concerned about potential legal issues.

Danny wanted more information, and managed to arrange a meeting with Gregor. Sparks didn't fly initially, there was no love at first sight, it was business like. Danny saw an opportunity: its better to have good relations with the local capes if possible, and if all it cost was to ask one of the workers to purchase some extra goods every week that's a pretty good deal.

They met a few times more, one on one, to hammer out the details. Over time they found each other to be acceptable company, becoming close friends, and began talking about what they'd lost. Gregor his past, Danny his wife. They offered each other advice with the people in his life, gregor helping Danny try rebuilding his relationship with Taylor, Danny giving advice with Labyrinths problems.

When this friendship developed into something more is difficult to say. But it did.

They do not have a fiery relationship. There's no whirlwind romance. Just two older men enjoying each others company.

They haven't quite explained it to Taylor yet.

Danny Hebert/Marquis:

They first met when Annette was still alive.

Annette and Danny, both being very busy people, had to drop Taylor off at a daycare on some days. Its there they met Mr Lavere and his daughter, who was older than Taylor.

They got to talking and eventually became friends. Pretty close, enough to invite them over to eat. Mr Lavere never invited them to his, however, which they did find suspicious.

The suspicions were explained, when Danny discovered several members of the union doing small jobs for Marquis and his gang and eventually met Marquis himself. Mr Lavere was surprisingly recognisable.

It harmed their relationship some, but they talked and Danny and Annette consciously separated their good friend Mr lavere and Marquis in their minds. Didn't bear thinking about.

When the Brigade came for Marquis they did not find him. He was at the Heberts with Amy.

They did however, inform the public of Marquis identity.

This brought untoward attention towards the Heberts, who were known friends of Mr Lavere, a man who was otherwise not incredibly sociable.

The stress of this caused issues with both of their jobs and in their personal lives, not helped by Danny remaining in contact with Marquis. This eventually resulted in a mutual but amicable divorce. They still remain in contact and are relatively friendly to one another, but the stress of the situation kinda ruined their ability to have a romantic relationship with one another.

Danny and Mr Lavere remained in contact, and became closer friends. Meanwhile, Marquis was expanding his influence. Being so busy, and with his identity public meaning he couldn't give Amy to a daycare, he often left Amy in Danny's charge. Amy was therefore slowly raised as a sortof secret sister for Taylor, with Danny acting as a second father.

A comment to Marquis by little Amy calling Danny her dad made Marquis think about all their past interactions and realise that his feelings had developed into something other than friendship.

He approached Danny the next day.

Gregor the Snail/Eidolon:

To be frank, I've got nothing here.

I've seen this ship done precisely twice. Once in a smut one-shot that didn't really explore it to the fullest. And the other time was a fic that died after four short chapters. What am I talking about? But of course,

Danny Hebert x Bakuda

Think about it. Taste it. So many possibilities for drama and sitcom, character development and interaction.

Taylor, having to contend with the fact that her father got a new woman in his life. The woman that isn't even a decade older than her. A woman with an extremely loud personality, which may or not be similiar to one of her bullies. A woman who may or may not interact with the aforementioned bullies, which will be whole thing. And also that woman is also an up-and-coming terrorist working for the second-most racist gang in the city.

Bakuda dating guy about twice her age (not inherently funny, but could reveal a lot about her character). A guy who has a kind of weird and sad kid hanging around. A kid who looks suspiciously how Bakuda must've looked not long before her trigger. To whom, of course, Bakuda will actually try to be a motherly figure of sorts, because how hard could that be? (Just do the opposite of what her own parents did.) And the kid turns out to be indeed a cape, specifically the new horrorshow insect cryptid one that put Bakuda's boss in hospital and also chopped off Bakuda's toe.

Danny, of course, dating a woman half his age. Probably happy to find love, but also having to navigate the feelings of his daughter, and the explosive temperament of his girlfriend. Which may or may not remind him of younger Annette. Remaining generally unaware of the parahuman bullshit happening just a few feet away from him, and yet obviously suspecting something is afoot.

is it possible that Danny Hebert and Marquis had like. briefly met. obviously they're not best friends or anything but. 1. Danny has been the Union Rep for the dockworkers since around the time taylor was born, which was when Marquis was still in Brockton. 2. Danny's wife was part of Lustrums whole thing, which means he at least incidentally has a reason to think of supervillains as people rather than as always evil. 3. In a seaside shipping town like Brocton Bay the dock workers union is probably like. fairly high up in terms of people you want to be on good terms with while doing organized crime and 4. they're both feminists so I think it's not out of the question they've like. had a business discussion or something. I guess what I'm trying to say is that when Marquis saw that Skitter was unmasked his reaction might have been "Hebert? Like the union guy?"

(danny pov): man it sure sucks that my daughter's best friend is being pressured into being quiet about the bullying. i'm sure she'd appreciate someone to talk to about it outside of apathetic teachers, if not with a family friend then her actual parents who might be as in the dark as i was before my daughter was hospitalized. she might even be willing to tell me who the bullies are so that i could help my daughter because that's apparently my only solution to help. shame the landline is all the way over there, four feet away. i'm sure the people who were there for me when i was grieving my wife's death would really appreciate knowing that their daughter might be getting bullied herself so that they could do something. but it's just so awkward to phone after not calling for a few years. best i keep waiting for my daughter to tell me herself. that's a winning strategy right there yes siree. danny ol' boy you've done it again.

okay actually i need to ramble about taylor and her dad for like a bit cus its sooo much.

like okay listen listen listen: Danny wakes up early and he cooks breakfast maybe and then he goes to work and he does his job- and he's great at his job, in any world but this one, in any other brockton bay, he'd be able to afford to take taylor out of winslow or fix their broken step- maybe get her her like a dog or something (which btw would fix her) and y'know pay the bills and shit. but he can't in this universe because in this universe kaiju attack every 2 seconds and one specifically doesn't like people existing on coasts and like he's a dockworker or whatever so! so. so he works all day tirelessly just to not get his crew jobs or better pay because no one is going to sponsor the people working on a non-existent dock like its literally a graveyard! who would pay for this when there's an actual dragon man running around the city burning buildings down and an entire neo-nazi contingent of super-cunts nobody is going to do that. But this is his life. And he's stubborn and things had been better before so maybe they can be good again and he hates change and he doesn't want to have it all been for nothing and this is what he does. So he gives it his all. He stays late and he really only hangs out with his coworkers and he does have to pay the bills so its not like anyone could blame him. So he slams his head into the brick wall hoping it will break before his skull will and he misses so fucking much of what is going on in his daughters life! but it goes by so quickly, too quickly and by the time he's begun to figure out just how deeply and irrecoverably she's changed its way too late to just swing back in like nothing happened. He can't actually! They've both closed themselves off totally, her even farther than he has. but they're both stubborn, so stubborn and they think that if they can just hold on a little longer then things will be okay because things have to be okay because this can't be the rest of their lives! And Taylor really is her fathers daughter because she sees the way he bloodies his head on that wall and says fuck it all do you one better: this brick wall is going to break or i am! and if i do then i won't be around to care about it! And she's skipping class and spending nights somewhere else, sneaking out and of course he knows about it- of course he knows! What is he going to do though? confront her? and then what? what justification could he possibly have for that? to demand answers from her when she should be the one demanding them from him? he let her go back to the same school that nearly killed her! he let her drown without him when his wife died- didn't notice when emma broke her heart, didn't notice when she stopped loving english class or trusting adults or speaking without thinking 'stupid!' at herself reflexively. or worse- he did notice and chose not to do anything out of cowardice and habit and procrastinating guilt- like his daughters mental health was homework he hasn't handed in. But they both feel better, when they don't have to talk about it- and there's nothing morally wrong with skipping school or dropping out entirely but taylor used to like school but having an actual conversation with her about what exactly is happening in her life is something he takes half a zillion words to work up to and by the time he actually does he has to lock them in a goddamn room together- not because it's a good idea- if he knew more about taylor he'd know its a surefire way to freak her out- but because that's what he needs to talk to her.

and it just...deflates. she leaves and drops out of school and doesn't really talk to him again until brockton bay is like halfway underwater. there's no catharsis with him finding out she's Skitter, its not satisfying, not even in an angsty way- 'luke i am your father' -at least that's properly dramatic! It's just sort of an. oh. okay. fuck.

i dunno. this wasn't going anywhere. i just...man. they'd both kill for each other, i am confident in that much, but both seem to struggle pretty hard with the 'living for each other' part.

I do think it’s very funny that Danny has such a problem with texting while driving but he’s extremely casual about drunk driving. Actively drinking a beer saying “it’s ok i’ll go slow.”

You know, like, I really hate that people say Worm has anything better than a bittersweet ending for Taylor (there are people who really call this a 'happy ending', which says more about them and about Worm's depressing bleak intensity than it does the ending's actual happiness) but also like

Danny Hebert isn't the worst parent in Worm. In fact, arguably, he's the best parent who actually shows up on screen. I'm even reasonably sympathetic to the guy.

But Taylor's ending is to be stuck with a guy who won the 'Brockton Bay's Best Parent' Contest by dint of being the only one to actually show up?

No. I don't like that.

I think that Danny Heberts problems could very easily have turned him into Sphere and eventually Manniquin because like. he objectively fails as a father. and he knows it and it just makes him worse and worse and he tries to pack all of his emotions tighter and tighter

Danny would probably run for mayor to help Taylor with the bullying. Well, it'd be to get the ferry reopened, but it'd be the bullying that pushes him from working within the system to staging a takeover of the system through established processes. The guy needs to broaden the list of school options available to her.

While he'd start out with a single issue agenda, things would broaden rapidly as support piles on for a candidate who isn't a sock puppet for the feds (Christner,) a turncoat to the administration she's part of (Padillo,) or a Bond villain's front company (Grove.)

Naturally, this results in heightened opposition as well. Coil becomes convinced that Danny is a cape when the attempt on his life is thwarted by a swarm of ravenous spiders.
