Saturday Night Sheets

Drunken state of sin. Clothes piled on the floor like a heap of dead leaves, scattered and kicked till only crumbs of the heart lay sprawled on the carpet and beer stained spots leave the scent of wheat and sperm. Booze out of the Bible. Cards splice open on your bed and bets on bets on bets until all the chips are called in. I only feel hands and the dizziness of my mind, spinning, spinning, on a Merry-Go-Round, spinning, spinning, like a Top, tequila stings my lips, but your tongue shovels deep into the grass. I come up rejuvenated, but that does not mean you should change your Saturday night sheets.

The Autumnal Equinox

I heard on the radio that women get angry

at least five times out of the week for no reason.

I sit on the balcony overlooking the city

and I can hear the lights flicker with a 

click, flick, quick, sick. I am sad because the

new moon will never be seen, since the highest

point is at noon, and the sun will always shine

brighter than your smile. It has been four months

and whenever I see a couple walking past me

I can't help but feel like a rotten

scent of Strawberry Vodka and soap.

The aroma from your sheets still

lingers and I can’t decided if I want

it to go away. The moon orbits the

Earth every 27 days, 7 hours, 45 minutes,

and 11 seconds, but it took me 21 years, 

9 months, and 5 days for my path

to revolve around you. The government

decided to lower NASA’s funding, but

that didn’t stop them from exploring,

researching, experimenting. All I want is 

for your hands to know my home. Your

fingers tangle in my hair- sending shivers

down the “luna maria”. I asked you if

you believed in sparks, but when you 

think about it, how could the moon

have formed without them?
