I accidentally bought the wrong TPB 🙃 This is from the 50th Anniversary X-Men Gold (2013), not to be mistaken for X-Men Gold (2017) which I unfortunately now own.

This comic brings us back to when Charles destroyed Magneto's mind in Fatal Attractions, showing us the fantasy he projected for Erik in his last moments. In it they lived a long prosperous life together, reaching their goal of creating a safe world for mutants side by side. Very bittersweet, and it was written by Fabian Nicieza who wrote the original scene in the 80s run of Uncanny X-Men!

Charles' Shi'Ar armor can be found in UXM 275 but in this instance he had a new body so he could walk even without it.

The exoskeleton in Fatal Attractions can be found in X-Men #25 and prev is correct in that it's based on Shi'Ar tech and operates on psionic energy. They actually used this suit in TAS in Sanctuary Part 2 but Charles still needed his hoverchair.

Since Fatal Attractions is this week’s homework hint for X-Men 97, this is me BEGGING for noseless, bandana wearing, bone clawed, feral Wolverine! Look, Amelia Vidal and team made Magneto’s goofy “M” suit incredibly cool, can you imagine how cool they could make this guy? And imagine Cal Dodd’s voice coming out of this version of Logan. I want it so bad!!!

Magneto had a really great character arc in the 80s which just got completely chucked in the bin because the new editor taking over the title thought that he should always be a one-note maniacal villain, and I'm disappointed to see X-Men '97 doing the same because the ex-showrunner wanted to recreate his favourite issue.
