Lute

Lute did not know how to react when you showed her nails inspired by her.

She looked between you and the nails, complexion slowly turning more and more golden.

“They’re pretty?” was what she finally managed to choke out.

They were likely matte with a grey and white color scheme, maybe a grey french tip on a white base, some white wings with black outlines, her halo.

She liked them.

These would be the pair that you would catch her actively trying to look at whereas she normally couldn’t care less.

She thinks she sneaky about it. She is not.

Rosie

Rosie goes to get her nails done with you as often as she can. She makes it such a fun experience.

She is gossiping with the nail techs or listening to their struggles and giving advice.

She’s a real lively person.

She normally gets something rather simple, black stilettos. Occasionally she’ll get a French tip of simple swirl design. Nothing major.

When you get nails designed with her in mind? Oh, dear lord, everyone’s going to know. She’s going to find a way to slip it into conversation.

Pink with black and white detailing. Maybe a bone, definitely something resembling black lace.

No one’s going to know how the conversation gets to you or nails but if you’re around, she’ll call you over and hold up your hand.

Definitely a very happy camper when it comes to it.

Vaggie

Vaggie would have to be talked into getting her nails done, I feel like.

She wouldn’t go for anything major.

Probably square or almonds, whatever the grey equivalent of nude is. She might get some pink swirls.

Whenever she goes to grab your hand and realizes you’ve gotten a new set done, she immediately flips your hand and is stunned.

A grey base, some pink Xs, a pink bow, and some swirls which match her eye colors.

They’re beautiful.

She just sort of melts and starts finding more reasons to fiddling with your hands.

Velvette

Velvette is the person who first brought you to get your nails done.

She’s been getting her own done for decades. There is nothing this girl has not tried.

Some of the things I think she would not like are the chrome. I think she’d like the cat eyes but chrome in general is a no go.

She’s not big on sparkles unless it’s specific to a design. You will not watch her with a nail covered in just glitter.

I also don’t see her being big on textured nails or the lava lamp trend that’s going around right now.

Aside from that, free game.

It’s hard to surprise her with stuff surrounding your fashion because she likes to be so involved with it but when you pitch surprising her and trying to impress her with your nails as a video idea, she agrees.

“I hope you’re ready to get torn apart, babe.”

Then she sees your nails and is actually surprised.

Obviously the color scheme is pink, black, and white. There’s some stripes, some swirls, maybe a couple hearts, and a nod to her skeleton earrings.

She brings you in for a kiss that she covers the camera for.

“You’ve got to pay to see this.”

Of course, Valentino and Velvette both get a lot of questions about when she’s going to do a video.

She promptly shuts this down.

I finally figured out how to retheme Galaxy's Edge. It's a city run by XS Tech. On the surface it's friendly, honestly too friendly, with each store in the marketplace (which obviously now has a much more polished and techy aesthetic) run by a different alien species. You can keep all the basic ideas-- the alien foods, the store full of weird trinkets from other planets, the pet shop which of course now features a Skippy animatronic. The droid depot becomes a showcase of XS's amazing new robot technology. You could probably even keep the lightsaber shop, except now it's prefaced with something about it being a secret new XS weapons development project. Then you keep the basic structure of Rise of the Resistance, except now you've been recruited by hackers or something to infiltrate XS headquarters and expose the company's evil secrets. And as for Smuggler's Run, just make an updated version of the Alien Encounter attraction at DisneyQuest. Literally so few things would need to be changed and there'd be SO much more room for creativity.

Icarus: The wealthiest district in the city. Reality overlays are used to hide the lower-class zones—residents of Icarus can't see the city’s decay unless they disable the filters. Clean skies, artificial sun, and shiny chrome everywhere. The illusion is expensive—and tightly controlled. The best cyberdocs work in this zone.

Devine: The “in-between” district of the city. A dense, grimy sector where most mercs, scavengers, and tech dealers live. Not exactly lawless, but too chaotic for corporate comfort. Street markets and second-hand cyberware vendors are common in this zone.

Eden: The lowest and most dangerous district. Black-market weapons and surgeries—which are performed with cyberware stolen from clinics and corpses, most of the time infected with viruses—outlaw AIs, and ruined buildings.

Cog: A derogatory term for people who are augmented. Implies they're no longer human, just replaceable parts in a machine.

Daedalus Paramedics: Premium medical care. They charge a subscription in exchange for rescue and treatment, no questions asked. Fast and efficient. Pretty much like the Trauma Team from Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberdocs: Medics who install cyberware implants. Only the ones who work in Icarus are officially licensed, but all of them know what they're doing—most of the time, at least. Basically the same as Ripperdocs.

Asclepius: A multinational corporation that specializes in pharmaceuticals, bioengineering, and nanotechnology. Officially, they create miracles for the less fortunate. Unofficially, they create dependencies on cyber implants.

Reality overlays (ROs): Augmented reality filters used to “beautify” grim reality. Rust turns into gold, ruins become skyscrapers, and poverty vanishes with just a flicker of code.

Double-X: Stimulants that enhance senses, boost cognitive abilities, and push the body past its limits. The legal way to acquire them is to buy them in Icarus from an official retailer. They're sold a lot cheaper—and dirtier—on the black market. Comes in blue tabs, marked with two white Xs on them.

Eclipse: A small sub-district between Devine and Eden. Home to cheap junk dealers, dingy underground bars and unregulated cyberdocs who can patch you up for free, but risk a data infection, or worse.

Sahara: Sub-district in the outskirts of Eden, where illegal drift racing, gambling, and drug dealing is more common than one might imagine. The police don't bother stopping them anymore.

Clean-Skin: Slang for someone with no cyberware.

Infinite Purity: Radical anti-augmentation group. Most of the group's members are edgy kids and orphans turned rebels who hate augmented people. They are responsible for multiple acts of vandalism and assault. Similar to Purity First from Deus Ex.

Soul Burn: A common side effect of stimulants. Manifests as memory fragments bleeding into real-time vision.

EMP ammo: Bullets that can cause serious physical damage, but are mainly designed to disrupt electronic devices and systems, in this case, cyberware.

Loop: A luxury narcotic, similar to morphine. Fabricated in Sahara.

Red Sun: Sub-district in Devine. One of the safest neighborhoods.

Open Source Trans Masculine Clothing Tech Packs

no idea if this interests anyone but Both& Apparel has made most of (if not all) their tech packs free/open source. The company is shutting down but, their clothes where designed with the intent of fitting trans masc bodies. The sizes range from XS-4XL. So any trans masculine folks handy with a sewing machine or with interest in fashion now is the time!

I have no idea how to sew nor do I really know how to read tech packs but I'm definitely now intrigued!

Why is Pabu still standing? The moment Omega and Crosshair get away, a Clone X Tech would be activated so Hemlock can ask where they're going. Full stop. It's been way too long and that hasn't happened. An argument here could be he has amnesia. This works to explain not knowing where Pabu is, but now we're to, why was this Clone X not activated when Omega and Cross escaped? He was only activated once the other one was lost. That seems like a huge oversight. An added meta-issue here is so now we have a Clone X Tech who ALSO has amnesia. That's pretty convoluted and honestly I don't see how that gets dealt with alongside our other awaiting plot threads in the remaining episodes.

Why didn't Crosshair know? There's literally NO way Cross wouldn't have told Hunter, Wrecker, and Echo that Tech had been indoctrinated and needed rescuing, that would have been the first thing out of his mouth. He clearly doesn't do that. Possible explanation: Cross doesn't know. But these guys are clearly trained in cohorts and groups, we see Cross being rotated through with them frequently. So if Tech is a Clone X he has to have been trained completely separate from Cross. This seems odd because now two separate Clone Xs have known who Crosshair was the moment they laid eyes on him. It also adds another convoluting layer to the above: Tech has amnesia, and had to be indoctrinated fully separately from Crosshair with a totally different group or groups. Certainly Tantiss seems large enough for this but we're getting to a lot of folding layers to make this fit.

Why did Cross not break while Tech did? Crosshair talks about Clone Xs like they have a 'choice', but ofc that choice can easily be 'convert or suffer eternally'. Certainly that was implied by Cross' no good very bad time. This indicates Cross didn't break and Tech did. The man who hobbled around on a busted femur and shot out a connecting hinge without hesitation nor a waver in his hand and had the nerve necessary to race against droids. Cross says he thinks his resilience is because he's defective. He could be wrong about that, but if he's not, okay then once again, why Tech and not Cross? We could go with, well maybe Tech was badly injured and had serious trauma. Okay so NOW, he has amnesia (to explain why Pabu is still intact) and a traumatic injury, which makes him susceptible to indoctrination. Once again, that's a lot of shaving to fit this square peg into the round hole.

How did Wrecker, Hunter, and Crosshair all fight him not realize it was Tech? These guys grew up together, trained together, fought in the war together, and Hunter and Wrecker have been with Tech since then as well. How would they not recognize Tech in a fight? If we want to claim his style has changed, that runs counter to the Clone X's per Cross' description--they're not mindwiped, their memories aren't gone, their personalities aren't gone, they're just indoctrinated. Their personalities are still there, they've just been distilled into True Belief. Tech would ultimately still have Techlike tendencies, yet showed almost none of them. For example:

This guy is athletic as hell and never slips. If you go back over S1 and S2, Tech is slipping on solid unmoving surfaces all, the, time. It's an amazing bit they do for him. This guy? None of that.

I'm only slightly joking when I say, he does not one single completely unnecessary roll or flip. Tech did those all the time. He was born to be extra.

He tries fruitlessly to use his suit controls for his ship, never once makes an attempt to fix them.

Why was the throwdown with Crosshair and this guy so very personal if it's Tech and Crosshair doesn't know, having never met him? The Clone X is busy echoing Crosshair's own words to Hunter from S1 right back in his face during their brutal fight. Chances, choices, etc.; it's the same things Crosshair said once upon a time in an uglier life. This guy is a Shadow!Crosshair, in effect, which really does NOT work as a plot point if he's actually Tech (because per above, Tech would have to have all agency and choice stripped away to become this--he really, really would). This fight is personal; this person watched Cross go through the program and refuse it. This isn't someone who 'heard about' Cross denying them. Crosshair would then know this is Tech.

It is possible they can somehow explain all of this, I just don't see that happening without it turning into some sort of marlinspike-worthy twisting of the rope to work in amnesia and succumbing when Cross didn't and Cross not knowing AND Hunter and Wrecker not recognizing his fighting style. That's a lot.

What if it's Tech and Cross feels guilty and isn't telling anyone?

My main reason for thinking this doesn't work is that when Howzer stunned the Clone X off Cross and over a waterfall Cross failed to react about it in any way. I just do NOT think that would have happened if it was Tech and he knew. He'd have wanted to capture him at all costs and hope for SOME kind of solution, any kind.

Instead it's 'let's get the fuck out of here after we talk to Wolffe who is being a himbo about things'. Not a single thought to that guy.

I personally suspect Clone X is either a Named (Dogma, Slick, Cody, whatever) or, a random reg that Cross went through indoctrination with. They both tried to hold out, desperately. They were both about to slip. This other clone did; Cross was thinking of giving in ('I belong in here'), when Omega announces they're escaping. She saves him from that fate.
