Imagine you're a 16/17 y/o dude and you're forced to go w your dad (who you hate) and your little brother on this trip that you're 100% NOT interested in, with a bunch of girls that you think are ridiculous and annoying (bc you're 16 and angsty and they all know each other except for you), to attend a soccer match for a team you're not even part of (and honestly we don't even know if he LIKED soccer but im gonna go w he could not care less about it) THAT SITUATION BY ITSELF SUCKS ASS and then (bc life's a bitch) the mf plane CRASHES; and your dad dies and you're left to retrieve his bloody corpse that's hanging from a tree bc he's your dad after all (all while you know your little brother, who loved and looked up to your dad, is watching the whole thing) and you probably feel guilty af bc you were mad at him and your last words to him were probably something mean.

AND THEN you're left to face the fact that you're stranded on this place w all of these crazy girls that, whether you liek it or not, are GIRLS and you're A TEENAGER with HORMONES but you're also now in charge of taking care of your little brother bc he's all you have left BUT HE MAKES IT SO HARD BC HE'S A CONSTANT REMINDER THAT YOUR DAD (that tbh got you into this mess) IS DEAD AND YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO HOLD IT TOGETHER FOR HIM

I could go on and on about this but what I mean to say is that, yeah, i think he earned the right to be a little annoying and misogynistic (especially considering it was the 90's??????) and bitchy and I would've loved to see him in the adult timeline struggling w the trauma that he had to go through, being the only one from his family that made it back and having to face HIS MOTHER (whom I have another theory about) ALL WHILE KNOWING THAT HE LITERALLY ATE HIS BROTHER

So yeah, in conclusion I think we should cut teenage Travis some slack

yellowjackets i know your writer's room is mostly, if not all, white people.

mari being pit girl? okay fine. full circle moment. i have accepted and liked this theory since i saw the pilot.

but season 3? is such a fucking shit storm that reinforces everything non-white fans have been saying for such a long time. treating non-white characters as disposable and sidelining these characters for white ones.

and also. did NO ONE think it would be weird if shauna was the antler queen and then the hair she's collected is mari's? is that not WEIRD when you consider the VERY LONG history of white people using the parts of non-white people as war trophies, as decorations, as literal objects?

i stopped watching when i heard lottie died because i'm just fed up with the way the non-white people are treated in this show. treated as plotlines, as disposable, as trophies. never as people. doesn't even get into how this bleeds into fandom discourse. and yellowjackets has always been racist, but s3 really is just mask off about it. and i feel like we should sit down and actually talk about it.

i’m actually getting exhausted at this point guys yellowjackets is an extremely queer & sapphic show 😭 like no it’s not the L word. because it wouldn’t make any fucking sense for it to be the L word. these are teenagers from the 90s who have weird and complicated relationships with each other who grow up into emotionally stunted adults who continue to have weird and complicated relationships with each other. i need you to stop discrediting the extremely queer way jackie and shauna were written, the devotion courtney eaton and jane widdop played their characters as having for each other, the ways in which christina ricci has played and talked about misty’s sexuality and feelings toward men, the obvious ways in which travis can be read as a trans woman. i need you to stop discrediting all of this just because they’re not portrayed in a stereotypically sexual and romantic way, just because the themes of this show aren’t spelled out for you. not every queer person is going to look the way you want them to. not every queer showrunner (because, i will remind you, bart and ashley are both queer) is going to write queer characters in the most straighforward way. it’s frankly fucking insulting to see so many people accuse yellowjackets, a show full of beautiful and complex and fucked up queer female dynamics, of queerbaiting and not being gay enough. watch heartstopper if you want a romcom. this is something different. just because queer representation doesn’t look the way you want it to doesn’t make it any less queer.

i saw a bunch of tweets about how travis is back on the shit list for trying to kill lottie and i thought to myself, “it’s yellowjackets, y’all.. grow up” 😅 but seriously?! you’re all pissed over attempted murder in a show like yellowjackets?? i mean, i love lottie too, but come on…….

and you truly can’t figure out why travis martinez would want revenge on lottie for inspiring shauna (and tai) to keep everyone in the wilderness??? let’s review, shall we? 🧐

his abusive father died violently in a plane crash and the corpse fell from a tree in front of him.

he was nearly killed by shauna and lottie and also kind of assaulted by some of the girls when they were all poisoned by misty. did he hold a grudge? no.

his little brother went missing for months during winter and travis searched for him until sort of going mad.

he mourned javi’s death once when nat showed him the bloody clothes.

then javi returned! but he was so traumatized by something out there that he had become selectively mute.

then javi drowned! so travis had to mourn javi again, for realsies. the shot of him cradling javi’s head while the predators watched on? HEARTBREAKING. he didn’t even get to say goodbye.

and, finally, he had to eat his own little brother’s corpse so that he wouldn’t die of starvation.

plus, he experienced all the General Trauma Stuff that everyone else felt too!! so yeah……… travis trying to kill lottie with a tiger pit? fair play, brother. i see you, man. i love you.

You don’t understand how horrifying Travis’s scenes in this episode were for me.

My thing with Travis is that I always thought that he survived the wilderness because he was so passive, he just goes along with what the girls do out of fear. He was seen as a victim of the girls. He wasn’t part of the group, he wasn’t one of them. I thought he was the most grounded along with Nat.

But this just threw all of that out of the window. If he wanted to take Lottie out he could’ve just grabbed a knife and gotten it over with. But no, he spent probably hours whittling each spike one by one, covering it up meticulously, and luring Lottie over to it. Repeating “I can’t.” to himself when he’s with her.

I expected his crash out to be just like an emotional outburst, but quietly making a brutal trap for someone who, for all we know, was his only friend for months. It’s something you wouldn’t expect from him, especially if you look at him in the beginning of the season. A wolf in sheep’s clothing, horrifying.

S3 EP 4&5 SPOILERS

I'm afraid I don't think Melissa actually likes LIKES Shauna, I think she's just that observant and might be using that to her advantage and using Shauna's mental and emotional state to manipulate her into going even crazier and doing crazier shit. Why? Still don't know and I sincerely hope it's not the case bc if I have to see teen shauna realize she has been manipulated by the only person that's showed interest in the "real her" I'm gonna lose it

Especially during ep 4 when she says to shauna "see that? It's fucking power". She's not saying "see? You were right he's guilty" or smth like that, she enfasizes the POWER Shauna has over the group (and by association, she herself is gaining by being w Shauna) and I think that power is what Melissa might be after, not Shauna as a person. And in ep 5 when she says all that stuff about Jackie and Jeff and compared them to her basically like saying "they treated you like shit BUT I ON THE OTHER HAND CAN SEE YOUR POTENTIAL" I cannot stop seeing it as if she's taking this wild feral dog that's been beaten by every single one of its 'owners' and pretending to care for it only to use its rage and strength for her own benefit.

Let's hope I'm wrong and Melissa is actually just into deranged women that could and have tried to slice her throat in a second but something about her being so focused on Shauna gaining power and touching into her soft spots (visiting her son's grave, mentioning Jackie AND JEFF??, and even giving her a personalized gift) smells fishy

people who hate the yellowjackets for doing evil things are so interesting to me…. okay, no, i do not agree with anything that shauna has done this season but it’s fun to watch her devolution.

plus, i mean…. you had to have known this evil girl and evil woman stuff was coming, right? they spent the whole show saying, “no one can know the horrible things we did out there” and now you’re shocked and mad at the horrible things? why’d you keep watching it if you don’t like it? it’s kind of silly of you tbh

I will never understand why taissa turner is not more popular than she is. 1-taissa is a compelling ass character. From her psychosis to her take charge attitude to her leadership qualities to that streak of darkness in her from the start. 2. Both actresses whi play her do SUCH a good job!! (I feel like i know why she has less fans tbh…)

Also taivan is cool but Taissa x Shauna deserves as much popularity as JackieNat or LottieLee. Their relationship is one of the strongest in the series (besides s3…dont talk to me about s3.) idk why other queer side pairinhs are more popular when they have such minimal interaction. Oh wait i do, its because theyre white and taissa isnt.
