DAY 4: ROSES

Hahahahahaha I took my time, yes......... Well, uhm,,,,,,, I have no idea what happened. To summarize, it looked great at first, and then, I don't know. I played with the filters, and everything I had detailed logically disappeared (AAAAAAAAAAHGSHAHAG) And at some point I decided I would fix it by adding textures (badly)
I wish I knew how to draw roses, or heels in weird positions because I'm sure no one really understands what position metta is in... Uh, anyway.
Someday I hope to redraw it, just recovering the concept, And this is actually from the Alphys and Mettaton dynamic that I'm extremely obsessed with
Originally the rose didn't shine, it was visible by itself due to the color contrast and there was a stage light above Metta... I don't know what happened, okay?
You can't even see because it's dark. This day, in fact, I redid it three times, and one of the times I had practically the main thing done, and I discarded it, oops
And MY FIRST SKETCHES just because I'm seriously confused with the result, it was missing something in fact but I'm so tired of seeing it hgsjgsgs that I'll give it up.
I don't know, I feel like I had something and I killed it in a certain way, I don't dislike it but.....................

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW BEFORE YOU START PLAYING :
PLOT & LORE : everyone from JJK is alive and well !! the timeline of the game starts when Yuuji finds Sukuna's finger (and it's a speed up version of the story we all know) and it then moves onto brand-new original story arcs, featuring some canon schools and characters from Gege who were not featured in the manga or anime. In short, welcome to the filler Arcs ~
GAME SYSTEM : stamina-based, collectible cards, resources to level up, turn-by-turn fights, Main Story and time-limited Events.
REROLLING :
as we got 10million pre-registrations, everyone will get a redrawable SSR character ticket = you do NOT need to reroll your account to get your favourite character thanks to this ticket.
if you still want to reroll your account to get another SSR of your choice with the crystal-cubes you'll get at the start (around 2*10 gacha pulls) besides the one with the guaranteed ticket, you can easily reroll from the title-screen-menu >>> (1) Menu (2) Delete Player Data (3) restart game and go thru tutorials and gacha again.

BEST STARTING TEAM :
Focus on picking your favourites ! The game is not that hard, and you can easily make it thru with basic cards, especially at the beginning.
Yes, Gojo is the best (his 2 SSRs and his SSR Memory Recollections are best in class) BUT Gojo is a busy-busy my-pace teacher, and he will leave the fight after 7 rounds. Nothing you can do to keep him. Meaning having Gojo is not enough to carry you thru fights lasting for 3 waves of cursed monsters. You need other DPS to get you thru so don't focus only on duplicate cards of Gojo.

Don't forget about Elements / Colours either and try to pull for a varied team. Also remember that you can only have each character once in your team (meaning you can't make 2 Nobaras fight in the same team).
At early stage of the game, cards who can attack multiple enemies (such as SSR Megumi or SSR Maki) are very useful to harvest resources. But they will not make it to the best Tier List due to poor damage on cursed Bosses, so make your own judgement.
SSR Memories & Recollections are actually quite easy to get, especially with Events, so you might choose not to focus on them much.
Any SR character or memory with duplicates (and max level raised) will be more powerful than a single SSR, you can check the % of bonus stats to see this easily.
RECOMMENDED CARDS :
DPS / Damage : SSRs Gojo, Nobara, Yuuji, Inumaki
Support : SR Nanami, SR Yaga, SR Momo, SR Yuki, R Ijichi
Tank : SSR Panda, SR Miwa
Heal : SR Shoko

On the day of Switch’s Fan ThanX Festival Live, in the dressing room…
Tsumugi: —Thank you so much for all your work up until now, Natsume-kun.
Natsume: IT’s still too early to thank mE, Senpai. That’s something I’d like to hear from you after we finish our liVE, got iT?
Tsumugi: That’s true, but you know, just seeing all the faces of our fans enjoying our game at the venue… I guess it was enough for me to feel accomplished.
And, Natsume-kun, you’ve been really working hard all this time to complete that game, you know?
You worked on it right up to the very last moment, just watching made me anxious!
Natsume: HonestLY, it felt like my soul had left my boDY. I had made such a bold declaration and aLL, but here I was potentially unable to finish it in tiME.
The battle felt neverendiNG, with things like having to track down and fix buGS, and redraw new pixel art for the appended direction for the mAP, bUT…
But weLL, getting to see all of our fans enjoy it made it all worth the struggLE.
Tsumugi: Right? And the children who were at the shrine were super into the game as they played too!
They got along with our other fans as well. They had so much fun they lost track of time, as if they were under a spell.
Natsume: FuFU, well that is the type of magic it iS, after aLL. I’m glad that our magic successfully enchanted everyoNE.
Tsumugi: The most popular of the minigames looked to be the rhythm game one featuring Sora-kun, didn’t it?
Natsume: I wonder if it is because it featured Switch’s musIC? Whatever the reasON, I’m glad it was so well receivED.
It didn’t look like we would’ve been able to complete the action game that Sora had suggested in tiME—
So I made it work by turning it into an action-esque rhythm gaME, but I couldn’t help but feel a bit bad about iT.

Natsume: …Speaking oF, Sora hasn’t come back yET. It’s getting close to to the time for the live to begIN, thouGH.
Tsumugi: Right, Sora-kun was still playing games with everyone at the venue, wasn’t he?
I’ll go and fetch him as they run their checks on the stage’s set. Natsume-kun, you take it easy here, alright?
Natsume: AlrigHT, I’ll count on yOU.

A little bit later…
Sora: Whew… Sora was having so much fun playing games with everyone that he completely lost track of time~!
Sora is so grateful that Senpai came to get him!
Natsume: Welcome baCK, Sora. Is Senpai not with yOU?
Sora: Senpai went to make sure the stage was in order after Senpai brought Sora back! On the other hand, however—
HaHa~! Kan-chan came by to play at the venue~!
Kanna: Hello. Harukawa-san had extended me an invitation and so I came by to extend my good wishes.
Natume: OyA, I didn’t expect you’d come out of your way to pay us a visIT. Whatever reason could you have had for thAT?
Kanna: No reason in particular. Although I had not originally planned to drop by the dressing room.
That was bad luck—I’ll be excusing myself. I was simply spotted by Harukawa-san at the wrong place and time and brought here.

Natsume: Can’t even hide the fact you find it all to be a hassLE, can …yOU
It is quite the surprise to see you come by to extend good wisheES. Although if you ask mE, it’s a surprise you came to our live at aLL.
Since I recall you didn’t accept our invitation for our last liVE—Wish.
Esu-kun had said it was because you were buSY, but if we’re being honeST, it was because it was too much of a hassle to coME, wasn’t iT?
Kanna: Correct, it’s as you say, Sakasaki-san.
Sora: Huh, is that true?! Kan-chan missed out~!
Kanna: I didn’t have any reason to go out of my way to attend a live.
Natsume: HmM, so that means that there was something this time that made accepting our invitation worthwhiLE?
Kanna: Yes. I was involved to a degree in the planning of Switch’s project this time.
In addition, it acts too as an opportunity to survey the scale of these Fan Thanx Festivals, such as the attendance. Based on these reasons, I found that it would be well worth accepting your invitation.
Natsume: I sEE. HowevER, while I figured as much that’d be your reasON…
I advise you say something along the lines that you were looking forward to watching your seniors’ liVE. It’s advantageous in the sense of navigating through liFE.
I’m not saying you should suck up to otheRS, per sAY… But I recommend you learn some manners if you are to survive in a cut-throat industry like this where every opportunity matteRS.
Kanna: Thank you for the advice. I’ll keep it in mind.
Natsume: And yet you look like you don’t care enough to even remembER…
WeLL, never mind thAT. More importantLY, since you’ve come to the venUE, is it safe to say that you’ve played the completed version of our gaME?
I’d like to hear your thoughTS . How was iT?
Kanna: I’ve already played it when performing bug hunting, though. I wouldn’t exactly say my thoughts have changed much.
Natsume: I wouldn’t exactly say thAT. The game’s quality has increased since you’ve done the debugging work for uS.

It goes without saying that the data shows results; such being the reason why it has been well-received by your fans.
At the very least, I’d suppose I wouldn’t consider it to be a waste of time.

Sora: “Everyone, thanks so much for coming to Switch’s live today!”
“First off… Has everyone here at the venue played the game that was made yet?”
“Sora, Shisho~, and Senpai all worked hard to create a game that everyone could play and get drawn into!”
Sora: “—HaHa~! It seems everyone had a lot of fun playing it, that makes Sora happy too~! ♪”
“The game will still be playable even after the live, so make sure to give it a try!”

Tsumugi: “Fufu, our game is fun and all, but right now it’s time for our live, Sora-kun.”
Sora: “Sora knows! But, but, Senpai! This stage looks exactly like the world inside the game~!”
“Especially the shrine in the back, it looks like it was taken straight out of it!”
Tsumugi: “That's right. Our stage here is recreated from the game we made.”
“Natsume-kun, who was in charge of game development, and I, who was in charge of stage construction, put our heart and soul into this. Didn’t we, Natsume-kun?”
Natsume: “Sure dID. We put a lot of special care in ensuring it feels as if you've entered the world inside the gaME.”

Natsume: “We built this shine because we wanted a place where everyone can create a lot of ‘connectioNS’.”
“I’m sure there are many people here who have been supporting Switch for a long time nOW. Maybe this is the first day some of you have ever heard about uS.”
“PerhaPS, some of you all have made new friends through our gaME.”
“If our gaME, if our liVE, could act as the catalyst to weave those new connectioNS, then we are haPPY.
“It is because of the entanglement of such countless connectioNS, and because Switch received support from so many people that a day such as today was possible for all of uS.”
“AgaIN, I thank you all for your continued support of Switch.”
Natsume: “The reason we can continue being idols is because of our connections with all of yOU.”

WIP Sneakpeak
So I've had this idea for a while and just haven't had the time to finish. I have SO many personal projects in the wings that keep getting shoved deeper into my internal queue due to other things (like my comic and already posted in-progress fics) that this hasn't had time to shine. Then the other day during my environment sketching practice (as I try to practice every day and barring that at least twice a week) I kind of fell in love with the image that crossed my dash (x) and of course landed in my environment practice folder (its so pretty) and knew (finally) how I wanted to do this picture. Course... as usual I'm struggling with wanting to just lean heavy into hyper-realistic details. *siiiiiiiigh*

The image, of course, is for a fic I've been working on (in semi secret? I don't think I've mentioned it to anyone besides my spouse before anyhow) so uuuuuh one of the characters might look... familiar? (I mean... maybe? I'm so curious if anyone can tell who it is at this stage.) And the other character is an OC. I was playing with some original ideas for my own books and she kind of fell into this (but who cares I'm just here to be self indulgent anyhow) And uuuuuh yes they're both gals. I know I don't write very many F/F things but I DO have a few.
Uhm.... so the art style (and brush I'm using) is not my usual but I'm kinda vibing with it so I'm gonna keep going. The brush (Krita's Pencil-4 Soft brush) reminds me of working with charcoal or pastels and I'm just really enjoying the texture and feel of it and I sort of familiarize myself with it. (I usually keep to a more 'comic' like style so my preferred brushes are the Ink-3 Gpen and Ink 7 Brush Rough when doing lines. ...and if anyone is curious I like Ink-4 Pen Rough with the stroke pressure turned off for doing lettering.) Anyhow if folks are interested in the process I can try to post regular updates and I have done a few streams while working on the line art. (folks don't seem interested in those though-- and I can't blame them. Watching me angrily redraw the same line twenty times cannot be entertaining.) But I may stream more (particularly once I enter the coloring phase since that's not as tedious to watch --usually-- as linework)

Yo the grass in the intro cutscene is gorgeous. It’s so good I can’t believe it. Also this shot on the right is fantastic, I gotta redraw it eventually.


Zelda looks so cute here. Love the hair. And I forgot the scarf was part of the tunic set. Idk how. Also it’s just. Sitting on the nightstand. It has been on the nightstand for who knows how long in Zelda’s room. Huh??? Very interesting.

Volga appears! Look at him acting all smug once he thought he finished off Impa and Link, only for Link to kick in with the Triforce! I think he’s the only Link to use the Triforce of Courage specifically for magic like that-the light shield is something I’ve only seen Zeldas do.

Look at him destroying his enemies. What a menace 🥰 also I was so lost for a good while. I thought I was the blue arrow, but I’m the yellow arrow. Oops


Wait there are chests in this game-he even does the holding up item thing??? How did I not know this I feel stupid.

having played the first four Gameboy Megaman games now:
the first one (Wily's Revenge) was one of two Megaman games i actually owned growing up (the other being Megaman 2 on NES) and this one's okay. i have a few complaints: the first is that while taking four bosses from one of the NES games and pairing them with four bosses from another (plus one brand-new robot master exclusive to this game) is a really cool idea, this first game only has the last five bosses show up during the endgame boss rush so you only get their weapons to play around with in a single Wily stage before the game is over. the rest of the GB Megaman games give them at least a segment to get through so they have a bit more screen time, at least
the rest of my complaints follow through to the rest of the series though. the sprites are huge for a GB game since they're taken from the NES games, which looks nice but doesn't translate as well to gameplay on a way lower resolution since you have less time to react to incoming threats. your shots are much slower in the GB games. the GB Megaman series is weirdly stingy with health pickups while the damage you take feels a lot higher. for some reason in GB Megaman II and beyond you have to unlock Rush Coil despite literally every other game in Megaman history since MM3 giving you that by default. having a unique, brand-new boss and power to win from him is a great idea, except three of the four games make that power the only thing that can hurt the final boss
GB Megaman II might be the jankiest Megaman game outside of like... the weird DOS ones. to the credit of the Z-team they outsourced this one to, it feels like they didn't understand the first thing about Megaman because they didn't understand the first thing about videogames in general, rather than not understanding this specific assignment. they tried to redraw NES sprites to conserve video RAM and they're all scrunched up and look like some kid tried to draw them from memory in MS Paint. level layouts are completely baffling. i... i have no idea how they fucked up animating Megaman's sprite for running while shooting so badly. the endgame exclusive robot master's power is a stupid pogo jackhammer thing that you're supposed to bounce on enemies with, except they forgot to not make it damage you when you collide with an enemy when bouncing on them, so you take damage too and it's by far the worst Megaman power in the game's entire history. yes, even worse than Stone Man's power from MM5. also if you're going to mix robot masters from MM2 and MM3 why on earth would you put Metal Man and Shadow Man in the same game, their weapons are almost identical
GB Megaman III: it's alright. i remember this one the least, actually, but it was a damn sight better than II. all the sprites they ruined in the last game are fixed now so everything looks like it's supposed to
GB Megaman IV would have easily been the best one except a) crazy amounts of slowdown if there's more than two enemies or bullets on screen, b) some grade-A moron decided the charge shot should have fucking RECOIL that pushes you backward a little bit (literally no other game in the entire series with the charge shot does this), so good fucking luck getting across that jump if you have to deal with an enemy suddenly appearing in midair, and c) WEAPON ENERGY DOESN'T REFILL AUTOMATICALLY BETWEEN STAGES. i get doing that for WILY stages, because the endgame of Megaman has always been an endurance run, but WHY would you do that for the NORMAL levels
anyway i hear GB Megaman V is the best of these because it has completely original bosses and levels, so that'll be fun

I'll be answering this for my WIP Galidean.
WITCH - When I was twelve, my brother started playing Fire Emblem - Blazing Sword and he showed me the original artworks for the game's characters. I was like "Cool, I want to be able to do that" and started drawing (people instead of horses). But I skipped the "draw fanart of the game's characters" stage and went straight into making OCs mode. The original setting and plot followed soon afterwards.
I actually still have some of those old character arts lying around somewhere, I've been planning to redraw some to check out my progress. (I also have several Fire Emblem games lying around that I should finish...)
ISLAND - Yes I have! It's basically the arcane language that is used by spirits and for spells and such. In 12 years of work, I haven't gotten very far with it though... Oh well...

i asked who the space player insert is based on a short while ago and so i still have my space player :)
anyway i should really find a new theme for this blog, huh? especially if i want to make a full comeback. if i do. something other than the old redux theme (despite how much i like how simple it is). i may have already found a new theme to use tho.
i've already edited some things on the blog. i edited some pages.
i am still very tuned in on writing/drawing for specifically game of dice tho (i love the characters and story there more than anything)

if you're wondering how the story is now (in the time since i posted that art of the 4), i have a whole rough timeline complete. including chapter names. (still unknown if i wanna post the story publicly) by rough i mean it's just short summaries of what happens in each chapter.
i wanted a timeline set (i did that for the old version of the story, it was actually mostly complete) before any actual writing. and i think the timeline is pretty much set. and i wrote part of chapter 1. wrote as in i blacked out after reading some of my old writing and woke up to about 200 words. that then expanded to 900 and counting. what being fueled by wanting to annoy a fave character does to me. and spite. also one of the main reasons for setting a timeline is the theme for act and chapter names i have. and every act and chapter has been properly named :) i think saying some of the chapter names would give things away, but i'll give away the name of Act I: Brand New Days
yes i am calling them acts like homestuck cause i like the stage play terms and how important music and the performing arts are to me and this AU. (plus music is so ingrained into homestuck itself, the fraymotifs [special moves] are musical terms for example). plus the old version had acts too
they're basically like this. the act is broken into parts with chapters. (of course there's more than 2 chapters for act 1)

if i were to write it in full again and post it, i'd post it to ao3. the old ews story is still there cause i don't want to delete the only archive of the story (aside from it being in my files) but don't read it. don't worry about it. oh god it's so old, don't look at it. i don't even have my fantrolls in it anymore. altho i have put it locked behind view to registered users only to make it somewhat private without getting rid of it. as well as disabled comments. my game of dice fics i've put there are far better, and it's not cause it's my game of dice bias (even tho those are old-ish too and predates the main story. and predates present nea [my game of dice fc])
altho i have did a little editing on a code to help make pesterlogs and memos look so much better than what they originally looked like in the old ews. i just decided to make this ahead of time in case it DOES come back to be posted publicly.
the new code (i just added extra bits in a copy/personal work skin that adds the 6): [AO3]
old (the dark bg is only due to me using a dark skin for ao3 overall)
new (not official logs/just made for testing, also these are the new unique handles for the 4 so it's no longer based on the irls. i hope the inspo for the handles is very obvious. sorry Matt did not speak in the memo, i just didn't know what to make him say. but there was already a lot to type. and by a lot to type i am talking about the code itself, even with copy+paste)

also i have some ideas for a new icon and header. the ideas i have are heavily persona 3 reload inspired. persona 3, especially reload, is one of the reasons i've thought about this AU again after all. what listening to full moon full life on repeat does to me. maybe the icon tho will be a redraw of the old one. which was from the old cover of when i was planning a comic version of the story. ...maybe i will redraw that cover, hm... who knows lol

As much as I like watching D_Not_So_Good_Artist’s “Draw X Characters As Y Group from Y Anime” videos on YT, I’m starting to dislike the clickbait thumbnails he’s putting on his recent uploads. I get it’s to bring in more viewer engagement (and probably align with the algorithm) but there are few things that piss me off more than resorting to that when you can just stick with the Dutch angles of the art piece or even the blurry, mosaic censoring peppered with question marks and emoji react faces (which I find to be laughably useless because I can tell what the result looks like under it).
#also this is a personal nitpick#but i would like to see artists like him branch out drawing other anime or even cartoons#like there are more stuff out there than what's mainstream#...says that person that's been drawing the same two fandoms for the past year#but i think you get my point#like don't get me wrong i really enjoy these style redraw videos#but i hate that it's gotten to the point where some - maybe not all - have to play into clickbait to get views#like when it gets to that stage you may as well be telling me you're not being completely honest to me the viewer anymore#is that harsh? yes but that's just how i feel regarding clickbait#redraw

Weirdly enough I am less reflected over this year than I was the one previous. In 2020, I had goals. In 2021, I just DRUMMED ON as long as my inspiration would let me! I indulged, I think, for the most part. 😂 However, looking back, I daresay I am proud. I have experimented more than I realized, and my pieces look rather good for it~

1. Obiyuki Almost Kiss This would be one of many artworks I would scream into Joanna’s dms about; one of those THIS HAS TO BE GOOD OKAY-type artwork. The Concubine!AU means a lot to me, and the fic she and Jen wrote even moreso. This artwork was the first time where I applied 3D models during the sketching stage, and a perspective grid for… well, that’s rather self-explanatory yes?

2. “When doth mine husband return to me?” The first in what would be a series of “Annie says she’s gonna sketch, then 30 hours later has to admit she lied”. LOL. One of many redraws this year, I tested new ways of both coloring and shading with this one - not to mention the lineless background that I was mighty proud of, for being entirely made up on the spot. I feel like this artwork marked the spot where I got more into harmonizing colors, while also playing with stronger contrasts.

3. Miss me when the ships sail West Omigosh this one. I made a couple comics this year and this is my fave. Again, lots of focus on vibrant colors - I find my style benefits from sacrificing some realism in favor of impressionistic, striking scenery. Comics are also challenging, bc you know that in order to tell the story well, you have to choose the right panels, and I have never been good at minimalism. This was also my first venture into chromatic aberration! Which has quickly become a favorite!

4. Now and then, forever the same While this artwork isn’t really impressive in its own right - it was a quick sketch, where color setting and atmosphere was the most important, to instantly tell a story. But. BUT. I made a gif! For the first time in ten whole years, I went back to try and animate something. It was a lot of work, ngl, but it really paid off in the end, wow.
5. Wheel of Fortune Ngl, that whole week went by in a flurry. I made seven pieces from scratch in exactly 7x24 days. THAT is a record in its own right. This one was perhaps my favorite of the lot, for it came to me so naturally. And it felt like I applied all the news tricks I’d learned this year into a single piece, and best of all, I got to try one of my favorite palettes!

BONUS: Ladies of the Witcher AU Just because I can, and because I wouldn’t forgive myself if I didn’t! These aren’t even about quality or detailwork, but the fact that I still remain so proud of these designs. Eleven actually badass-looking girls and women, none who can be mistaken for one another, and whose energy is entirely her own.
If I can preserve even half of the subconscious energy I’ve channeled towards art this year, for next year, I will be overjoyed! Here’s to hoping~

This is not ScroogeTales, nor is this GlomTales, this is... ROCKERDUCKTALES !!
Yes, you heard right, Rockerducktales, with John D. Rockerduck as the main character. Joke aside, I wanted to do this on the Duckwember theme, like Luxuriant Duck and Rockerduck came to my mind, but since I didn’t do it then, but now, here’s an opportunity with Duckcember to do something like this. Since Rockerduck is celebrating its 60th birthday this month, the 60th anniversary of its appearance, I wanted to do this. Yes I drew this, in my own style, combining styles from the original Ducktales (Ducktales 1987) and European comics where these characters mostly appear. Since Rockerduck often competes with Scrooge, and he didn't appear in OG Ducktales, but he did appear in Ducktales reboot, but not much in contrast to European (especially Italian) comics where he is a star, so here's a redraw with Ducktales intro from 1987 where Scrooge and Huey, Dewey and Louie present themselves with money, but this time Rockerduck and his nephews are the ones coming on stage. Of course, there is also the Rockerduck family who play important roles.
Here's the cosplay for Rockerducktales: Rockerduck plays Scrooge McDuck and Scrooge's opponent George, Patrick and Simeon Rockerduck (Rockerduck’s nephews) play Huey, Dewey and Louie Duck Arsène Rockerduck plays Phooey Duck, Webby and Doofus, although he is Rockerduck's older and serious nephew Ricky Rockerduck is in the role of Donald Duck and he is, and he is Rockerduck's nephew (the oldest Rockerduck’s nephew) And finally Jeeves (Lusky) plays multiple roles. He plays Launchpad, Duckworth, Mrs Beakley and Gyro, plus he’s also Rockerduck’s partner.
Certainly their opponents are Scrooge McDuck, his family and his company. This could be interesting and very funny.
This is definitely a part of John D Rockerduck's 60th birthday and I wish him a happy birthday. Of course, this is also my gift for my friend and companion, @chanduthemagician, who is a Rockerduck fan. Of course, even though it's still early, happy holidays and expect more surprises! And sorry that this drawing turned out a little bad and sorry for my long post.

name: NoxCounterspell
fandoms: Currently writing for Kakegurui and Shingeki no Kyojin.
two-shot: The Beginning and the End (or Knocking on Heaven's door), a Kirasaya (KKG) Fic. This was intended to be a one-shot, however ended up being posted in two chapters because it was too long (insert here cynical laughter when I'm currently posting 14k chapters). The project was conceived by a very creative mind and acquaintance that came to me with a very fucking good outline. Together, we managed to create a very immersing post-canon AU, even if I say so myself. This touched a lot of different subjects, everything revolving around the concepts of family and freedom, right versus wrong, the lack of understanding, psychological projection. One of my favorite parts is the tag Meeting the Parents, and how that can play in how the story is perceived.
most popular multi-chapter: To you, the girls lost in Hell (SnK, Mikannie). An absolute whim of mine, taking Yams story and twisting it and shaping it into a narrative that fits snippets of my own imagination, regarding Annie and Mikasa's relationship (this is basically going to be an enemies, to lovers, to enemies, to friends, to lovers). Really, this is a fic entirely about them, for them and how their basic symbiotic relationship: clashing and attraction impacted everything happening on SnK. This is an excuse to study two characters in canon-verse, getting and providing a humble glimpse of how these characters, in the context they are being written, work. Vomiting a heck ton of my own headcanons, I'm trying to add angst, action, psychology and others to the table, following the overall outline Yams created, but redrawing the entire canvas. Honestly, I'm deeply surprised by how well received the story has been. This will try to keep up the intensity, overall, the outline is designed to play with emotions for the whole ride: we know where we begin and where we are going, but the how it's the sting.
actual worst part of writing: Writer's block. Obsessively researching something to realize it just won't fit the story. Self-doubt. Isolating oneself while writing non-stop. The built-in expectations one may have about their writing that might not be met by the end result.
how you choose your titles: One of my favorite parts of writing it's designing titles. Most of them respond to the question of what does the fic need, how can I guide the reader as to why this has been written? So say, To you, the girls lost in Hell is a direct nod to SnK's first manga chapter and the Light Novel: Lost Girls. This story is for Annie and Mikasa, two girls/women left to their own devices, surviving, searching, trying. A message I hope gets delivered. The Time series (Kirasaya, Meariri, Kakegurui) needs definition. Words are concepts we never really stop to decipher, as much as we ignore human behavior. Defining an entire character study by just one word, the context is easily guided: perhaps Fall is the clearest one, how can a character fall and break without them meaning to? I can rant for days as to what's the process I prefer for title creation, but I can summarize in: how can a whole story be told from the very beginning?
do you outline: Yes. My outlines give me an overall idea of how to get from A to Z, without closing the doors to letters from other alphabets. Pretty much every story I start comes from a dialog that won't leave my mind or a very vivid scene I pictured. Building around it - how the narrative goes and comes, rises and falls - is what outlining comes to do in my case. I outline in two stages: overall skeleton (indents, phrases), then, general paragraphs describing each scene. To this, add specific dialogs and phrases that are non negotiable. If I can’t fit them in, then the scene is not working. I like highlighting bits and pieces of the prose. Phrases that will get stuck with the reader and myself.
ideas I probably won’t get around to but wouldn’t it be nice: PACIFIC RIM MIKANNIE. There, I said it. This has been running around my mind for a while but I think it's mostly for the lols and for how much of a nerd I am. I don't think I would write it but there are snippets in my head of what that might look like. There is also an ExMilitary!Annie and Cop!Mikasa Modern AU running around in my head, with them getting into a relationship with twists and turns to pertain to what they've lived, boundaries, psychological walls, PTSD... etc. For Kakegurui: BLADE RUNNER + ALTERED CARBON AU. Yes, I like SciFi. I have a heck ton of wips, some might see the light, some might not. We'll see.
callouts @ me: I don’t know what a omniscient, general narrator is. For the love of Dio I can’t wrap myself around how to narrate something without siding with a character. I’ve read examples, designed scenes... and still there is always one character I get introspective with or predominates in the scene and everything, then, sides with them. So I’m faulty of jumping from POV to POV by scenes. Or I write an entire fic based in once character’s perspective. In both instances, I always hope it’s not confusing. Long sentences without breaks or very stuffy wording is another fault of mine. Probably from the fact that I like to write from thoughts and actions in depth than leaving things to the reader’s imagination. I want readers to see what I see, to feel what I feel. I try to write from a place of empathy, channeling the character and their psyche, and the impact that creates is what I want to reflect. So overdetailing is a dear friend of mine. A very talented fellow fic writer told me that I build until people can’t escape what I wrote. I think that’s both good and bad, as I’m taking the freedom people get when picturing their own version.
best writing traits: Based on comments, narrative and characterization. Again, I try to write from a place of empathy, and I undust my psychology classes each time I’m trying to write a character. I like character studies, dissecting something until it’s raw, how can I make or break a persona that’s already been written, that already has a defined mind/soul. That’s why I love angst and currently, thriller/horror. I’m, also, obsessive with details. Everything has to be accurate and clock work. Does anyone care if the bus I’m describing actually exists? Not really, but I need to have a model in mind. Is it really necessary to open google maps and calculate how long it would take X character to walk from Tokyo’s University to a fictional apartment building? Certainly not. However I need to know in order to sell it. If it makes sense to me, then I’m comfortable enough to write it. It’s not practical, but allows to create tangible actions/places.
spicy tangential opinion: Very snob of me... but mind your text’s visual presentation. If the text is unappealing to the eye, it can be uncomfortable to read. I like fics (and books as well) that are mindful of the aesthetic in lines of words. Having adequate spacing in between paragraphs, balancing length of sentences, using defined styles for dialogs... Gives a very professional feel to it. I’m all for AUs and canon divergence, but fanfiction has a very fragile requirement that is to respect the character. Do with them whatever you like, have them tap dance or bungee jump, alter their canon-verse or send them to Hogwarts, but keep the essence. How and why is a character acting the way they do is key while writing fanfiction. I’ve read great stories that would have worked best as original fiction, because I can’t feel the characters. Again, a very snob thought.

Gen 5 was the very first time I was able to catch the pre-release hype of a Pokemon game online.
At the time, I was 13, a freshman highschooler who caught the intrigue of the very first Unova Pokemon in silhouettes, the starters and the Tao Duo.... wow, there's gonna be new mons!
I witnessed everything that unfolded during Gen 5 from start to finish: heck, I was even one of those bandwagon haters from back then, I knew too well how they thought.
"Wow this dex SUCKS they try too hard to copy kanto" "pokemon went downhill this year" "wth they changed so much?? this isn’t even pokemon"
I feel like these days people have been undermining how it was negatively received, so I want to share what I've seen firsthand.
Everyone was so angry at how the dex didn't have any old mons, and that the designs we're stuck with are tryhard expies of the original 151. That's beside the overused "ice cream and garbage pokemon UGLY" argument which rooted from that sentiment with the designs. Surprisingly I actually bought this thinking at first (YES, I started out as a Unova hater) and tried hard to lift up the then-latest Digimon season (Xros Wars) by saying the designs are ugly lol
Hate aside, younger me still wanted to see the game anyway and pirated a JP copy of the game release day.... but I couldn't understand anything, so I got stuck at Nacrene City and just waited for the English version haha.
Fast-forward to March the next year, it was a happy time of the year for me because school years used to end in March in my country! School was heavily winding down and I get to play a new Pokemon game fresh, wow!! I was still in denial but I really liked the new story focus. During that time, then-Unova hater me was in a denial stage, trying to water down what I liked about the game and being bitter about it breaking the mold too much.... but over the months I tried to engage with it more, and the biggest gateway for me was Spe BW.
At the time it was still in its earliest chapters (I think it was before the Nimbasa stuff?), and I thought hey, why not try to follow it while it's ongoing? (RIP) I just got really endeared with Black and especially White at the time! You can see where that led to today LOL
So now you probably guessed this is the start of my Hilda fan backstory, and yes, it is HAHAHA. I didn't pay it much mind at first but 14 y/o me was like, WOW.... wait.... her design really speaks to me, this is the aesthetic I want for myself?? She's so boyish compared to the others!
I started veering away from Spe White, taking aspects of her and projecting (HAHA) onto the actual player, and protagverse White was made! She isn't actually made for the verse, but someone I've been treating as an avatar for a while now since 2012. I was so happy with her that I even restarted White and made a new file playing as her character!
For this anniversary piece, it was meant to be a culmination of my personal feelings with the games:
My 1st G5 game was White 'cause I loved Zekrom, protagverse White was my comfort character that helped me cope so much as a teen, and they just influenced me in so many ways.
I wouldn't know how I would be today if teen me didn't find comfort and inspiration in the Unova games. It was a big part of my art journey.
Since 2012, every 4 years, I've made a small tradition to redraw my 1st White art. This art is redraw #2.
In 2012, I was in my 3rd year of high school. In 2016, I was in my 3rd year of college (and 1st year of art school). Today, in 2020, I've graduated and now working as a freelance artist.
White, and Unova as a whole, grew up with me, and I'm so thankful they exist.
If you've read this far, thank you for reading, and I hope that I've imparted how much I love Unova, and how much it's helped me over the years. It's had a rough start, but I will never regret sticking for it until it got out of the spotlight now as the appreciated sets of games it is.

Can I PLEASE hear your ideas for the wof rpg
OH I’m so sorry I missed this!! YES absolutely!! For anyone who doesn’t know, that’s in reference to this artwork :0 I’ve actually got 2 large ideas that would make for. Totally different types of games....
The first is what I had in mind with that screenshot redraw + the others I’ve planned, where you can play as the dragonets of destiny and follow the main story. The other would employ the same game mechanics as the first, but you’d be able to make your own characters and explore the world from that perspective! I had botw in mind for both ideas, but the first is closer to the more linear Zelda games, while the latter is even More open (being more like Minecraft, or maybe elder scrolls games, but I’m. Barely familiar with the latter. So idk if that’s a good comparison)
As far as specific mechanics, I had a couple ideas for combat! I thought it’d make for interesting gameplay to be able to switch out which dragonet you could play as. Everything would be easier when you’ve got all the dod working together, and it’d especially ramp up the difficulty during the brightest night section of the game, since Sunny’s on her own w fewer abilities. Also like....... you get to choose to play as your fav more often if you want........ pog
Speaking of abilities! Everyone’s got basic bite and scratch moves (bite does more damage but you have to be in closer, scratch does less damage but isn’t as risky to use) as well as special abilities like their fire/poison/what-have-you. Except for animus magic, if any animus characters would end up playable, bc uhhhhhhh animus magic my detested! But I think it’d also be fun to pick up weapons throughout the game! Like,,,, running around as Tsunami with the NightWing guards’ funky spears, or Sunny with RainWing blow darts, just stuff to make combat more interesting yknow? Plus you could get your own nifty weapons for your player characters in the more open world version! Handheld weapons could do more damage, but cost stamina to use since you’ve gotta have a limb or two free. I’d also wanna create my own kinds of weaponry, like metal to reinforce claws — small worldbuilding things I feel the books are lacking :0
Anyways, on the topic of stamina! I got the idea from the soulsborne games I grew up watching my brother play, which I am admittedly only familiar with on the surface level. But I thought that with the variety of dragons you have to play as, it’d be interesting to include stamina as a stat to change around along with speed and strength! I think Sand and IceWings would have the best stamina, being dragons that have to traverse large distances between settlements, along with maybe SkyWings? RainWings are on the lower end I feel, being specialized for agile flying rather than long-distance. It affects not only fighting, but also flight — wingbeats take stamina, though gliding does not, and dragons like MudWings have to actively fly more than, say, SkyWings. But idk how prevalent I’d want this to be bc flying in games is fuckin FUN a and I wouldn’t want that mechanic to get in the way. I feel like maybe it’d only become a big concern on large flights (incentivizing landing to rest and exploring a bit) as well as aerial battle
SO anyways..... as far as the story-oriented game. I kinda think it’d be rad as hell to have multiple endings. NOW HEAR ME OUT,,,,, I fuckin love stories that change as you play them and also uhhhh funny little exploration of storylines that don’t get to happen in the books! And...... it can tie into the open-world version
My vague idea for how the story-driven and open-world versions could coexist is that you gradually unlock free play elements as you progress the story. When you reach the SkyWing kingdom, for example, you unlock the ability to play as a SkyWing! But your range is limited to a small area and there’s only a few side quests to play, up until Scarlet is out of the way. Then, in the 2nd book portion, you unlock SeaWing free play! So on and so forth until eventually, you can explore the entire continent with any tribe you like. And here’s where it ties into multiple endings. Your free play characters can live in non-canon versions of the game, like say you put Blaze as queen during the story for for kicks and giggles — you get postgame content with that to experience in free play!! I imagine it like having a file for each world, and you get to choose which character to load in as when you start playing, whether story or original. Then you can switch at any time if you feel like doing smth different!
You can also start from any previously-reached point in the story on a new world, kinda like loading in Spore on the civilization stage rather than starting at cell? If you wanna make a world where like. Peril comes with the DoD. You can start a new world that automatically loads in the canon timeline right up before Peril parts ways in book 1! BAM new pal in need of therapy
