     Jamil snorted at that, unsure whether to be insulted or flattered. The tightness in his chest refused to clarify. 

     "Is that all? Only everything?" He cocked an eyebrow at Azul, taking some bitter pleasure at the doubt that squirmed across his face. "After my heart, what's left over for me? Surely, even a mere servant deserves something to call his own?"

     "...Do you think I was lying when I said I'd give you the world?" Azul's tone had shifted, dropping to a murmur. His gaze left the horizon to stare at something unseen in the middle distance.

     ...And then he turned to face Jamil, silver hair falling about his face like the setting moon, eyes flashing like silvery light on the water. It was impossible to look away.

     "I deal in trade, you know. Nothing goes without compensation," he continued. The softness in his expression was being quickly overtaken by determination. "I would see to it that you had everything you ever wanted. Beyond your wildest dreams. Just name your price, and I'll deliver."

     Jamil sighed, angry, but not sure exactly who at. 

     "What could you know of my dreams?" he asked more gently than he felt. "Who is to say if I even have them? It is no servant's place to harbor ambitions, after all. A businessman such as you should know better than to offer something he cannot guarantee… In exchange for an item of such dubious quality, no less."

     He shot a glance at Azul, and was surprised to find him smiling.

Not a long chapter and I don't have much commentary, but it's under the cut

-The emotional struggle between wanting to include phytoplankton, and knowing full well that phytoplankton is very specifically a warm water phenomenon was so real. You would not believe the battle I had to fight with myself before coming up with a compromise 

-Sirens being deadly hypnotic sea monsters, my beloved. At this point I'm just going with the idea that Azul automatically and subconsciously turns on the siren charm magic when he wants something, as predator species tend to do, and obviously Jamil brings that out in him. (also proximity to the sea making that kinda magic more potent, cause why not)

-Yeah btw low key I am actually terrified of the ocean at night. Like, I love it, and I'm fascinated by it, and I like beaches at night, but you could not pay me to touch the water.

-We can add a bit to Azul's already debilitating self loathing by having his own loving mother vehemently hate on something that she doesn't realize is an inherent part of his nature. As a treat.

Gives nose/forehead kisses: mari does both the most! nose kisses especially! dia forehead kisses sometimes when they’re in private and kanan very seldom does either because she just really is a hug person

Gets jealous the most: mari acts comically jealous to get reactions, kanan does get jealous but just stays quiet mostly, and dia looks jealous but really it’s just she has a strong sense of family and if Anything happens she has 45 plans

Picks the other up from the bar when they’re too drunk to drive: dia, usually, because she’s the Responsible One. When Kanan is the only one not drunk enough to drive she actually still can’t drive so she,,, calls for someone who works for mari i guess

Takes care of on sick days: Dia!! its in her Heart, except she probably gets sick more often than knmr so those two! and she appreciates both of their company during sick days in different ways: kanan’s just the most healing company to have and mari’s cooking is just amazing

Drags the other person out into the water on beach day: kanan drags Both of her gfs out into the ocean, and mari is actually tougher to drag in than dia bc dia’s cool with water but mari’s the weakest swimmer among them; when she gets in tho she splashes a lot

Gives unprompted massages: KanaDia, and kanan just a bit more often. Dia’s the kind of person to know what pressure points help for what situations (really this is a good skill) but kanan’s just “hey this spot on your shoulders, you press it like this and it’s great right”. but mari prompts them when she catches on so

Drives/rides shotgun: hm dia and mari can drive, kanan can’t, but when dia drives Mari Always gets shotgun because she’s in charge of music and all three of them actually just agree with her tastes. so mari is always one way or another at a front seat, while kanan and dia take turns at the back, Except when mari misbehaves i guess

Brings the other lunch at work: in a world where they all work nearby each other, probably mari is just delighted to go around bringing her lovelies a lovely lunch. if she can’t make it she probably has someone to do it for her.

Has the better parental relationship: you know actually this question is vague i’ll answer it differently this time: All of KanaMari’s parents just Adore Dia, and Mari’s tenure as director is just very attractive also despite her Shiny. It’s just Kanan that takes a little convincing, but she proves herself as a complementary personality u feel

Tries to start role-playing in bed: Mari,, Especially when Dia’s leading. the other two have none of it

Embarrassingly drunk dancer: i mean mari dances with enough boldness you’re impressed, but kanan tries doing impossible things. dia is the embarrassed sober friend (except when she’s not, but even then she doesn’t dance she just starts talking louder and with more emotion)

Still cries watching Titanic: Dia strikes me as the type to cry as if it was the first time on her eighth watch, while Kanan sees it like Once and insists she’s not. Mari’s more interested in her gfs than the movie at that point, because how often does that happen right

Firmly believes in couples costumes: none of them do, Mari just tries to make them dress funny sometimes when the Squad gets together. sometimes when she’s kidding it goes over kanan’s head

Breaks the expensive gift rule during Christmas: not kanan that’s for sure lmao

Makes the other eat breakfast: kanan and dia are Responsible but mari’s a morning person so there’s little need. Sometimes when Dia’s drowning in Tasks she forgets to eat though

Remembers anniversaries: dia and mari. Dia just has it because she lives by calendars and planners; mari because she Loves special days and the things she gets excuses to do

Brings up having kids: i think kanan brings it up because she knows that mari and dia both have Big Family Businesses that need to get passed down somehow. theyre all pretty forthcoming to the idea

-Sooo I've been playing Baldur's Gate a lot lately, and it's been reigniting my love for fantasy herb lore and shit

-Unrelated to any one-off concepts that weren't remotely plot relevant and definitely didn't need excessive details like species name or anything pointlessly nitpicky, I found a neat site for latin dictionary and conjugation!

-I like to imagine that Jamil considers his wardrobe at nrc to be pretty sparse, like the bare minimum essentials for any situations that may come up. But also his idea of sparse is in comparison to Kalim and the Asim family, so, yeah…

-There's no way Jamil wouldn't get power-high off of being the one to decide whether his classmates live or die by Floyd's hand when Floyd gets protective. He and Azul have that in common and you cannot convince me otherwise.

-btw beach mummies isn't a real term that I know of, but they are absolutely a real thing you can find on the beach sometimes and they're pretty neat.

-Also I like to hc Jade as a kinda anxious clingy child. Like not wildly different in base personality, but I picture there being a definitive point where he got colder and weirder as a direct result of being more sensitive to stress early on (and of course getting subjected to stress). This still shows through a bit in his strong attachment to Floyd and Azul while keeping everyone else at a firm distance.

-Meanwhile, Floyd still has a protective streak, but everyone he used to protect is more self sufficient now.

-I really was planning to have their date go a lot more romantically, but realized they're both too much of a mess for that to work. So what we get is Jamil bodyguard trauma and Azul revealing his entire stalker agenda

❓I didn't realize there was fan content on wattpad until I heard about it through warnings about story theft. I had a couple chapters of an original work posted there before ditching the site

❓I've written a bit for a different fandom but never finished them and have since abandoned the works. So right now I'm only writing for twst

❓idk I agree with M34gs on the genre thing, but kinda suspect that the person who made it meant that and just worded it poorly? So yeah it's legitimate writing with a legitimate impact and it comes in multiple genres. So I have a maybe bingo

✓I run chapters by my bf when I can, but a lot goes without beta. And I've beta read a couple things for him too. So far all my stuff has been m/m and I'd argue the reason I write fics in the first place is self indulgence

✓I can't write one shot fluffs to save my life, it's all interspersed with angst, but I cherish fluff fics. I think all stories deserve a victory lap where you get to see the characters having a nice time

✓I didn't know you could leave kudos more than once????? I've definitely tried! But I do end up screaming and button mashing in comments, I'm actually really bad at verbalizing positive emotions in general, especially through text. Just assume !!!!! means that autistic flopping around shit that I refuse to actually be seen doing in front of people

✓Everything so far is unfinished but my fics are all up online one chapter at a time. I also have two novels and one short story in the works that are not finished and definitely not published, but I'm hoping to write for a living some day (hopefully soon)

✓As much as I complain when it gets difficult, I really do love research for stories, and a lot of what I write incorporates info from special interests or things I've done deep dives on in the past. I also love going out and physically examining things to describe later, or observing plants and animals in person to create fantasy creatures from. Editing though? Fuck editing. I love just about every other aspect of crafting a story besides that, and having to rework the formatting for ao3 is a pain.

✓Most of my motivation to write hits at 2am, and as soon as I put down the story to get some sleep all the points I was stuck on suddenly flood with solutions and I die inside a little. I also end up posting updates in the middle of the night and then can't sleep right because I'm itching check for comments all night and first thing in the morning. I'm a fiending attention whore when it comes to feedback

✓I have received art of my fics! I almost cried over it!! @quartz-candles drew this awesome piece for my Wicked Depths fic! And @terrible-eeeel mentioned wanting to draw an image from YHMR, so I nagged him until he actually did it, which is basically a commission right?

×I haven't written any smut yet, but it's gonna turn up in my fics eventually. I have no idea if I'm gonna be able to pull it off well though

×Considering twst isn't a particularly huge fandom and I'm writing a ship so niche I got to name it myself, I'm shocked and honored at the amount of attention either of my fics are getting as it is!

×Caffeine usually has almost no effect on me, so I drink coffee or tea for the taste when I'm in the mood and it doesn't make a difference to my writing

I never get anything I write beta-read before posting. I don't have that kind of restraint, I want to post when I want to post and I don't want to wait for someone else to read it over (and I am really my own hardest editor anyway; always have been).

"Fanfiction is an actual genre" - I did not mark this one because it's not true? Fanfiction has many genres within it. It is Actual Writing, most definitely, but it isn't it's own genre. It spans across all genres. (it's like saying "novellas are a genre" or "comics are a genre"; no. They are a Form of Media, and very valid, but not a genre)

Yeah, someday I would love to publish original works and be able to make a living doing what I love. I even have some original stuff in the works to hopefully publish, but sometimes I go back and forth with the idea, unsure if I really wanna go down the money route. Yes I know professional writers should have editors and alpha readers and beta readers. But it's different than fanfic. I don't feel like it's the same, so therefore for me it is not and I can justify it. Like how I don't mind being told what to do at work but I will fight anyone who tries to tell me how to live my personal life. :D
