YMASSB....2?

Heyyy, so I spent some time rereading a fic I wrote 5 years ago called "You're Missing A Star Sans, Buddy" and I have a few ideas. Genuinely, I have no idea if I'll have time or energy to work on it until the summer but right now, the idea wouldn't leave me.

Edit: I'm not deleting the original fic! For option A, I would just be putting it under a slightly different name, preserving the original for archive purposes!

I realize there might only be, like, half a dozen votes and that's fine with me, but for any of my followers who HAVE read it and enjoyed it, what do you think? And if you haven't read it, that's alright too. (Below the cut are my thoughts on what each option would entail, in detail)

Firstly, YMASSB follows soulless Ink losing Dream and being changed irreversibly by Nightmare into Something Else, and learning some multiversal truths. This is the absolute vaguest description I can give without spoiling anything, though when I was rereading the fic, I did feel a strong sense of "what is happening??" which, while funny to remember my feelings as I wrote it the first time, was frustrating as a reader. (To those who read the original through and loved it, thank you for the confidence boost!!)

I'll not be giving my preference on what I want to do because as of right now, I don't know what that is? I'm open to each of these options, but am curious if anyone even wants something like this. So!

Option A would take the most time of any of them, and I would likely keep most of the story beats, just flesh them out and organize it under a different title to preserve the whole "archive" thing of writing.

Option B would be probably a lot of work with going through the fic chapter by chapter and updating each of them individually. The title would be preserved, but you will not be able to read the original as is anymore.

Option C is pretty self explanatory. YMASSB would get a sequel following the events of the first one, likely fleshing characters out better. The first fic would not be touched.

Options D and E are also pretty self explanatory.

YMASSB Update (but not a chapter one lol)

IDK if anyone has seen this on AO3 yet, but You’re Missing A Star Sans, Buddy has a final chapter count! And the rest of those chapters are actually written and ready to be posted! 

I will be posting them throughout this week, probably. I know it’s not one of the bigger UTAU stories (and that is totally okay! It was more for me as a challenge to try and finish a damned story for once in my life lmao) but I don’t want to post all the rest of the 4 chapters at once. 

Anywho, thank you to those who have been patiently waiting for updates from this interesting story!

Almost wishing I could schedule when chapters will be published onto AO3 instead of doing that myself. But then I’m reminded of how grateful I am that they allow for chapters to be saved, and how much fun is to wait for the comments to come in <3

I am rereading YMASSB for the first time in months and ndffsdjhfdjh I'M SCREAMINGHGHDHDHF- I forgot how much I loved that fic?? Uuuuaaaa I love stinky bastard Tat... Speaking of, what does he look like as of chapter 25? Still in those dark clothes he got from the store? What about Edit - it was mentioned he changed clothes at one point, so I presume they're different from Error's. What about Zest and Zeal? Sorry that I'm always asking for detailed descriptions of your characters XD

Yo, no apologies necessary!! Generally, if your views of what my characters wear differ from how I imagine them, but you still want to draw them, I’ll be interested to see it! I’ll include a quick description of what they look like too, for reference XD 

Currently, I’m seeing: 

Tat 

Ex-Ink, tattoos still on his body, though the bones are more stained with a purple-ish tint from the negativity apples. Eyelights are a blue-yellow bullseye, similar to Edit’s eyes. 

Maroon turtleneck, dark grey hooded jacket with built-in black vest, black-purple jeans, black shoes/socks. Has a few smaller paintbrushes since Broomy was destroyed. 

Edit 

Ex-Error, still dark boned, though where the bone was red, it’s now blue, and where it was yellow, it’s now gold. His one eyelight changed to be blue-yellow bullseye, like his other eyelight, which matches Tat’s eyes. 

Clothes consist of an Error-blue shirt, black shorts with blue stripes on the sides, black shoes and his Error-jacket, with golden stitching. He didn’t want to change his outfit too much, having been comfortable in his old clothes. 

Zest

Successful experiment of an AU Grillby, Gaster and Sans to see what their magic would do together: he’s basically a tall flaming skeleton with an interest in science 

He tends towards a more casual look, with a lab coat over his shoulders. His clothes are fire-resistant, something Grillby was insistent upon

Zeal

The teenaged child of Zest, they are genderfluid, and they are also a flaming skeleton with an interest in science. As of chapter 25, they are 14, almost 15 years old, and they’re almost a professor in a university 

Clothes have enough flexibility for them to shift their gender however they want using their fire, though they tend towards ambiguity: pants, a large shirt, a baggier jacket and boots, all of which are also fire retardant

Take your time with updates!! It’s okay to be busy or take a break lol. Not to mention, you already have quite the plateful with the Simple series! ^^ I appreciate anything you write, no matter the time it takes.

Aside from the Simple series (Gold and I talk/work on it every day, whether that's actually writing or just discussing plots), I'm trying to work 30-40 hours at a parttime job (maybe two jobs), self-teaching animation and concept art, working on my personal project "Hiraeth" (had a few Hiraeth/Okami crossovers on my AO3, if you were curious about that lol), and YMASSB. Ideally, I would like to post a new art piece every day and a new chapter update every 2-3 days but hnnnn time and I are not friends. We're barely acquaintances!

But joke's on them, because I have organization tools that I plan to more fuly use. Haha, that's right.

I. Have. PLANS!! Mwuahahaha!!

But seriously, I am actively working to better organize myself so I can try and reach these weekly ideals of mine. I'm hoping to do this sooner than later, but that's my behind the scenes.

Basically, I haven't and probably won't, give up on YMASSB, it's just... not having as much time dedicated to it as other projects, for now.

Also, Skyrim and Zelda: Breath of the Wild are consuming my relaxation time, but they'rebeing worked into The Plan.

somehow i never went through your works on ao3 until now?? i just binged the entirety of "you’re missing a star sans, buddy" and i really enjoyed it!! it’s a super cool concept. tat and edit are really enjoyable to read! both have really unique ways of looking at everything.

I cannot believe I left my boys for so loooong. I literally have an ending in mind it's just sitting down to write it has proven difficult but hnnnn I miss themmmm

Nov. 5,2019 updates

It’s SO WEIRD to not update a new chapter every night?? Like... what do people do??? 

So for those of my followers that have read “It’s Not That Simple” and are reading “It Was Never That Simple” (rated explicit for both, please be aware of warnings!) the tentative plan is to upload one chapter a week for November, then starting December, have more frequent uploads! We will give more information when we get closer to December since it gets a little more hectic around the holidays. (co-written with @jellyfish-swims-through-gold)

As for those who are reading “You’re Missing a Star Sans, Buddy” (AKA: YMASSB, rated mature) I am still working on it! Originally, I was going to post 1K chapters daily for the month of November then..... IRL bullcrap (sickness from the changing weather, mostly) happened so now... well, I’m not giving up on it so don’t worry! It’s just going to be slower than I want. Again. T_T
