I'm literally searching through this tag because I love to see how furious and hateful are people about Yong-Xing Cp xD Like, well... You hate what you hate. I like what I like. Bring me some popcorn 😏 And I especially love how they're praising ChengRen CP. Yeah, they have some cute moments, I agree. But they're so dull to me. I live for the drama and the happy ending of the most hated couple because that's who I am 😁

HIStory4: 近距離愛上你 Close To You | Brief Synopsis
Tumblr media
History TW officially announced History4 today and the cast, and they started filming a day ago if I’m not wrong! So this will probably come out in say 3-4 months I hope, because filming usually takes a month. The social media team pointed out that the cast’s unique selling point is their height, everyone is taller than 184cm, and even the main girl is 180cm with heels LMAO.
HIStory4: 近距離愛上你 = Means ‘loving you from a close distance’, officially they’re naming it Close To You
Tu Shan Cun has charismatic eyes, and this time he’s portraying wedding company department manager Xiao Li Cheng (2nd guy from the left). His appearance is sunny and handsome with a decisive and relaxed personality. When it comes to relationships, he likes to be blunt and confront the other person head on. In this drama, he intends to pursue his first love from his childhood days, who is also a fujoshi called ‘Liu Mei Fang’ (played by Ji Xin Ling). He finds rich young master Teng Mu Ren (played by Chen Li An, first guy from the left) who abstains from pleasure (I assume he doesn’t have sex or is a virgin? NO IDEA) and forms the ‘ChengRen’ CP with him to catch his first love’s attention. Who knew that they would end really falling with each other, and turn each other gay - an office romance.
*Edit: About the ‘turning each other gay’ part, admittedly it could be a translation thing, but the words they used is 直男互掰彎 where 直男 = straight guys, 互 = ‘each other’, and 掰彎 is sort of like slang, literally means = bent slanted = not straight = gay, so you guys get what I mean. HAHAHAHA personally, honestly, I do think there’re better ways to describe how they fell in love lmao. To be fair, it’s used in danmei and even usual chinese drama that’s set in the modern times, but I’ve only ever seen this phrase used in light jest. It does more or less literally mean to bend = to not be straight.
An Jun Peng plays the wedding company’s creative director Ye Xing Si (second guy from the right) - he has a kind and considerate heart, and always has a smile on his face. He is colleagues with the characters that Chen Li An and Tu Shan Cun are playing and dotes significantly on his non-related younger brother. Lin Jia Wei (guy on the most right) plays med student Fu Yong Jie who is obsessed with his brother. Both actors challenge the ‘forbidden love’ trope - the YongXing CP.
—————
Hahahaha for reasons that are probably clear to everyone, the description is a bit problematic (like the phrases they use), as they describe problematic tropes 😂😂😂

I see people discussing mxtx playing with gender stereotypes in WWX and LWJ in characterization. To be quite frank, characters in cnovels are just like that. As you can see from the male characters from Shao Nian Ge Xing here which is a wuxia webnovel by a male writer published on a platform mainly targeted at men. The male characters are pretty, and innocent, (or a tsundere diva who always look unimpressed in the in the case Xiao Se), and the female characters often do the chasing. Some of them are aged old genre conventions, half of the cp in Jin Yong's novels are innocent male MC with a tsundere "evil" chick who chased him shamelessly. Other "gender stereotypes defying" tropes like a male character cross dressing as girl, got teased because he looked perfectly convincing is influence from japanese manga.
Both WWX and LWJ are typical male characterization in cnovels. WWX in his first life has so much Ling Huchong in him, anyone who've read the major wuxia classics could see this is classic wuxia male MC characterization. He acted weird sometimes as MXY for the comedy. All of LWJ's core qualities are classic "male" traits: stoic, reliable, decent, quiet, act more than he talks. His "tsundere girl who acted annoyed when he's teased" thing is now also a common thing in male characterization.
Side note on Shao Nian Ge Xing, I think Xiao Se was a much riskier male character to run as the MC than either WWX or LWJ. I'm pleased he's so well received.
So many pretty malewives in Shao Nian Ge Xing! 😍😍😍 Zhao Yuzhen is like a male Rapunzel, locked up in his little courtyard on the mountain, he been waiting for Li Hanyi to get him, and him still waiting 😭
Tumblr media
flowers already became peaches, but still no fairy, still waiting 🥺when Li Hanyi said she'd come and get him in 1 year, and they'd leave the mountain together, he said "I have to ask my shifu first", I was like do you also have to come back before 12, princess? (¬‿¬)

Thank you so much for this post. I've read so many hate posts about Yong-Xing Cp that I never expected to see this diamond. And I agree wholeheartedly, people just need to try to understand those characters more, because they're just seeing the worst in them and don't even try
It's quite funny how people don't even try to understand the depth of this show.
All I can see here, on tumblr, is how Hsing Ssu and Yung Chieh relationship is toxic. But have you ever tried to really understand those characters? Have you seen how many things here really makes sense? This show is not as bad as many of you thinks. But you need to understand what they really tries to show us, if you open your mind, you can be surprised how good this show is, really.
HIStory always tries to go for difficult matters, it didn't change at all with HIStory4.
But you know what? It's like with WBL. If you don't try to understand characters, you can really miss a lot from the show and many things doesn't makes sense. For example, if you don't try to read into Shu Yi character, you can't understand why tf he could forgive Shi De.
