Ask game: 👀✨
Thank you for playing, my friend! 💕
👀 A fic that you love a normal amount
Salvage or Repair by @ilovedthestars lives in my head rent-free, and it's so good I can't even complain about that. It has everything---delightful OCs that you will want to just scoop up and carry around in your pocket, a sweet plot that will give you the warm fuzzies, and humans (a human, anyway) being good for once. I could read 100,000 more words about Yuma and Crowbar, and I would still want 100,000 more words about Yuma and Crowbar. 🥰🥰🥰
✨ A fic you wish you could read again for the first time
The Solicitor and the Secunit by @elexuscal is just...*chef's kiss.* It's a non-linear narrative that weaves through scenes from Pin-Lee's life, most of which relate to either her friendship with Secunit or the foundation that that friendship will eventually be built on. It's everything that I adore about Pin-Lee and the unique relationship she has with Murderbot. It fleshes out her life's story so beautifully that it's basically all canon to me now. There are times I genuinely forget which aspects of her character are actually from the books and which of them come from this fic!
Fic Rec Ask Game
(Edited to include @elexuscal 's tumblr handle---I'm so sorry that I didn't connect that that was you! I'm so bad at keeping Ao3/Tumblr usernames straight! 😂😭)

Oc #1 (Main)— Yuma Itadori!
Tumblr media
-Little Miss Non-Sorcerer..right..?
-Could see curses since young, but had no cursed energy.
-No cursed energy, no cursed techniques. Just herself, a crowbar and a bundle of inner fury waiting to be unleashed.
-Lucky like a cat, energetic like a chihuahua.
-Took after Kaori in appearance, someone had to
-14 year old who ran away from Sendai in search of Yuji, met Kaito and Eden on the way—They accompanied her.
-Three weird teenagers out in the streets of Japan being absolutely deranged and either fighting or running for their lives from curses.

rejected pitch line for Salvage or Repair: She was a salvage mechanic working herself into deeper debt on a backwater asteroid, it was a SecUnit that got damaged and sold for salvage, can i make it any more obvious (that they save each other and become besties for life)

I'm curious; what's X and Y?
(Writer Ask Game)
You've fallen into my trap and given me an excuse to talk about the other Yuma and Crowbar sequel fic! (mwahaha)
(CW for brief mention of a suicide attempt)
This one takes place farther in the future. After spending a bit of time on Preservation together, Yuma and Crowbar have decided they want to join the Polaris network / underground railroad and help Niri & the others get more SecUnits to freedom. They're set up on a CR station near Preservation, with an apartment that can serve as a safe house, a few helpful contacts, and all the equipment Yuma might need to fix up a SecUnit.
The fic starts with the very first SecUnit that comes to them--and not unlike Crowbar, it comes to Yuma in a crate, looking basically dead. It was illicitly sold for scrap and a contact bought it for Yuma to try to fix instead. It's been shot through the power cell, a very expensive part to replace, but they manage to hook it up to external power and get it back online. It's very visibly freaked out, and it can't talk--voice, feed, signs, anything.
It becomes clear pretty quickly that its voice was taken away by its former owner, and also that its injuries were probably self-inflicted. Yuma sets out to fix its voice, and when she succeeds, one of the first things out of its mouth is that it left another Unit behind, and can they help it too?
X and Y are the placeholder names for these two SecUnits (and if I can figure out a way to work it into the story those will probably be their actual names at this point). I started off writing from Yuma's POV but I've also gone back and written sections focused on X and Y, about the relationship the two of them have carved out under their oppressive owner. (I can't help it, I have to keep writing SecUnits who Care About Each Other despite everything <3)

accidentally clicked "unfollow" when I meant to click "ask" oops. However: Follow up fic! Follow up to what? Intriguing. Mysterious
(Writer Ask Game)
Ha, I almost added the title of the larger folder this one was in to make it more clear, then decided the mystery was more fun. It's the Yuma and Crowbar follow up!
Picks up pretty much immediately after the end of Salvage or Repair, and follows their journey back to Preservation. It started out mostly as an excuse to stick Yuma and Crowbar and Niri in a spaceship together and have them talk about stuff—to give space to all those follow up questions that Yuma has that would have distracted from the emotional reunion in the first fic.
But then at some point I had the idea to mash it up with one of the (many, many) random snippets of Yuma fixing up other traumatized rogue SecUnits that I'd been writing. So now there's more drama and another very recently rogue SecUnit in the mix, plus another human, and they have a lot more Talking About Stuff as a result.
Honestly the thread running through the fic is Yuma beginning to understand what being a SecUnit really means. What Crowbar and Niri and this other new SecUnit (and, in the current and most angsty version, the other unit it escaped with, who didn't make it far enough to be rescued) have had to go through, in their lives and their escape. And the process of her committing herself to a) a real ongoing friendship with Crowbar, and b) doing something to help all of these people who she can now truly understand are suffering.
It's a fun fic! I like it! It's the kind of wip that's got like a million different alternate version of certain scenes and will be hard to clean up to a final version, but a solid chunk of it is written and I do like the Emotions.
Under the cut, have a snip of (very unedited) dialogue between Yuma and Crowbar!
[I tend to write a lot of talking head dialogue and fill in actions/details later, which is what most of the brackets are for. Consider them placeholders for pauses/dialogue tags]
“Crowbar,” she says softly. “Yes?” “Would you have tried to run? If you could?” It looks back over at the other SecUnit, and sighs. “If I’d figured out how to hack my governor module myself? If I had a way out of the mining belt? If I found the perfect opening? That’s a lot of ifs.” [] “I don’t know. It takes a lot of courage to do something like that. And it takes…believing that there’s even something better out there.” [...] “I’m lucky that I got in the way of a [mining equipment]. I’m lucky that they sold me off for salvage. Otherwise I never would have met you.” [] “I don’t think I would have ever had the chance to run. I would have died in that mine, sooner or later.” “Is it like that for all of you?” “We get sent on different kinds of contracts. I’ve met units who were rented out with planetary exploration equipment, or bought as personal security, or used for [corporate subterfuge]. And there are ComfortUnits and CombatUnits, with their own kinds of contracts. But, yeah. There’s not really a good way to be equipment. It’s all terrible, one way or another.” “And if you try to run—” “Then we’re dangerous, unsecured weapons.” “That’s not right.” [] “Not that you need me to tell you that.” “It took me a long time to realize it. That was all I ever knew. I’m still getting used to the idea that I can have something else.”

OC-tober day 5: Relationships Aaaaaand a million years later I am finally back to attempting some OC-tober prompts. (A wrist injury made me break my stride, and even though it isn't too serious I've been using it as excuse not to draw much for days.) I'm not gonna do all the ones I missed, but there are a few I was excited for!
I had a different idea in mind for this prompt and even started drawing it before I hurt my wrist, but when I came back to this I wasn't feeling it anymore. But I did just post a brand new OC fic a few days ago, so I decided to draw something for that instead!
Introducing Yuma, a mechanic deep in debt on a backwater asteroid who fixes and salvages junk for a living, and Crowbar, the SecUnit she repairs! I love the relationship between these two and the way it shifts. Yuma takes a selfless risk to set the SecUnit on a path to freedom, and it comes back to repay the favor. They rescue each other <3
I wanted to do this in color, but I reminded myself that I do not have infinite time and not every drawing has to be perfectly polished, so it's just in flat color for now. But I am really proud of how it came out! I settled so comfortably into drawing these two, even though I feel like I've been having trouble with figures lately. It's very reassuring :)

More Murderbot OCs that I drew for ArtFight! These are Yuma and Crowbar from my fic Salvage or Repair. They've each saved each other once over, and now that they're even they stick together and help other constructs get to freedom :)
(and pssst--you can attack them on artfight https://artfight.net/~lovedthestars )

1. Your first OC ever?
I love hearing where it all started from… and also, free space to post the question(s) you’ve been hoping someone would ask
(OC ask game)
1. Your first OC ever?
Ooooh....I gotta think far back for this one!
First thought was a character from the fantasy novel I started writing when I was 12. The protagonist kind of grew out of a character from a game my brother and I played with his legos, lol. She changed a lot and had a whole tragic backstory and I still really love her even though the novel is trunked for now. (I also made her aroace, years before figuring out that was true about myself.)
Trying to think if I had any characters, fandom or original, from before that...I was into warrior cats for a while, but like, I didn't do online fandom about it or anything. What I did do was write a bunch of cat names on little cards and organize them into clans and write out whole elaborate family trees over multiple generations lolll. I don't think they were ever fleshed out characters, more of an excuse to come up with a ton of cool names, but they might still count XD
I also probably made up a Wings of Fire character at some point, but I couldn't tell you any actual names or character traits. To be honest, I think I wasn't that much of a (fandom) OC person until I got into the murderbot fandom and saw all the wonderful and creative OCs here!
And since you gave me the freebie I am going to take this as an excuse for shameless self-promo....
7. Are your OCs part of any story or stories?
The Polaris squad appear in my polaris series on AO3, which currently consists of just one fic, Old Unit, Young Unit. It's about a jaded, old SecUnit who's lost all hope of a better life, and a young, idealistic SecUnit who offers it another chance at freedom. (I have been stalled on the last chapter of this for months so if you read it and enjoy it PLEASE tell me i need motivation.) Eventually I hope to have a sequel fic and some additional snippets!
Yuma and Crowbar appear in my fic Salvage or Repair, which is basically their backstory. They're a SecUnit-and-its-human duo who mutually help each other escape their terrible situations and go off to build a better life together. I have lots more stories about them I want to tell, including interactions with Polaris + other OCs!!

The entirety of "Salvage or Repair" lives in my head rent-free, but the reunion scene in the alley? 🥰 Flawless. It is 100% a part of the Murderbot canon to me, and it gives me an attack of the warm fuzzies every time I think about it!
Awww 🥰 That's nice to hear, because I've wondered if that scene was a bit clunky. Glad to know that even if it is, it's not getting in the way :) (There's always something very reassuring about someone telling me they like a line or scene I felt insecure about.)
Yuma and Crowbar are such a fun duo to write. I love them your honor!! They saved each other! She didn't have to send it off to a better life and it didn't have to come back for her but she did and it did and now they're both so much happier for it!! And that reunion scene was so fun to write because I just LOVE the emotions of Yuma finding out what impact her decision had. Yuma kind of screwed up her life in an attempt to give someone else a better life than she could hope for herself, and she wasn't sure if it actually made any difference, and now here's living proof standing in front of her that it did! That act of kindness she threw out into the void was everything to someone. And even though it barely knew her it cared enough to come back and say thank you--and to return the favor.
Suffice it to say, that scene gives me emotions too <3 Thank you for the kind words!
(Anonymously - or not - tell me what passage, fic, line of narration, or anything you remember me by as a writer.)

I remember you by the fic Salvage or Repair! It’s such a beautiful story and I absolutely adore your writing <3
I love that fic!! Yuma and Crowbar are current favorites of mine <3 Ever since I got past the mental hurdle of "i'm not an OC person" I've been having so much fun playing with OCs. There's just so much space in tmbd for exploring different facets of the universe and different stories of humans and constructs taking care of each other.
I also wanna shout out my friend Wolf (WyvernWolf on ao3) who has had such a big part in shaping many of my fics behind the scenes, including Salvage or Repair! We bounce ideas off each other in DMs a lot, and i came to her with "I think I want to write about a human and a SecUnit who save each other" and together we built Yuma and Crowbar. She even came up with Yuma's name! (We were calling her Human as a placeholder. yes Yuma is secretly short for h(y)uman)
All of which is to say, thank you very much <3 I'm particularly happy when people like my OC fics and not just the ones that stick closer to canon. It's so wonderful to know that people like the blorbos from my brain :)

trick or treat for bardic, who doesn't have a tumblr account:
I know you've read salvage or repair, so you already know Crowbar and Yuma!! here's a little bit from after the end of that fic, with the two of them having a conversation about governor modules (Niri is also there)
---
She frowns. “That automatic shutdown, you mean? That tried to keep me from tampering with proprietary tech?” Niri and Crowbar exchange a startled glance. Crowbar sighs, and gives her a rueful smile. “I wondered if you knew what you did.” “Why? What?” “Yuma, the governor module was more than just an automatic shutdown,” it says gently. “How much do you really know about SecUnits?” “Next to nothing, before they brought you in the box,” she admits. “People said there were SecUnits in the mines, but no one ever came back from the mines to tell about them. They said you were machines that were used to keep order.” There had been plenty of horrible rumors about what happened in the mines. SecUnits had featured in some of them, but they’d only been a part of the nightmare, and Yuma had never paid those stories much mind. “Yes. We’re used for other things other places, but in the mines they used us as enforcers to keep workers in line.” Crowbar takes a breath and makes a gesture as if waving the thought away. “They had to keep us in line somehow, too. We’re stronger and faster than humans. If we decided to stop following orders, we’d be a threat.” She doesn’t like where this is going. “How did they keep you in line?” “The governor module.” Crowbar’s voice is still gentle, but solemn. “It monitors what we do. You saw the software.” “Nastiest piece of code I’ve ever seen,” Yuma agrees, remembering the iron-clad defenses she had to break through and the tendrils that locked onto every other system like a parasite. Crowbar nods. “There’s hardware too. In our heads. If we don’t follow orders, or break the protocols that have been set for us, we’re punished with electric shocks.” It says it so matter-of-factly, and then pauses, watching her reaction. She spends a long moment waiting for more, grasping for a less horrible way to fit the pieces together. “In your head?” she repeats. “Yes.” “That—that must hurt,” she says, even knowing that hurting is the point. “It does.” “But not anymore?” she asks, struck by a new wave of concern. “It’s stopped, right? Since I—” “Since you hacked it. Yes. It doesn’t work anymore.” “Void above and below. I—” She presses a hand to her mouth. “I thought all I did was give you a crowbar and a crate and ship you somewhere a little less terrible.” “No,” Crowbar says. “You freed me. You handed me control over myself for the first time in my life.” It sits back, and allows a smile to break the serious look on its face. “That’s why I came back for you.”

🤡🎶👀
Hi friend! Long time no talk, I haven't been reading much fanfic lately but yours are at the top of my list when i get back to it :)
(Emoji asks)
🤡 What's a line, scene, or exchange you've written that made you laugh?
There's some fun exchanges in As Your Legal Counsel, in which Pin-Lee talks legal stuff with Three after NE. They were such a fun pair to write about! My favorite might be Pin-Lee joking that "You can trust me, I have more experience representing a SecUnit client than any other lawyer in the known universe."
🎶 Do you listen to music while you write? What song have you been playing on loop lately?
I do! I'm a music-with-words person, even (not always, but sometimes it's the right amount of background processing to keep my thoughts from wandering away from writing.) I haven't been writing a lot lately, because things have been very busy these last few weeks. But my current music on loop is a playlist I made called "Sunny" (i have a matching "Rainy" one). It's got a lot of The Well Pennies on it, they make great writing music!
👀 Tell me about an up and coming wip please!
Same aforementioned caveat that I'm not writing much lately, but the things that are at the top of my priority list are mostly OC-related. There's a few more Old Unit, Young Unit chapters, a bunch of spinoffs, a whole sequel story if I ever get around to that, and also some more stories with Yuma and Crowbar from Salvage or Repair.
To talk about a specific one...There's a Yuma and Crowbar spinoff that isn't titled yet that I'm really having fun with. Y&C are just the perfect characters for making up other OCs to throw at them. I'm writing a new pair of secunits who were bought by an owner who put a software block in their language processing centers that prevents them from speaking. They've got a forged-in-fire friendship, and it gets very hurt/comforty, which I love.

This is the origin story for my OCs Yuma and Crowbar, who i've posted some art of before! It's a story about a human who's down on her luck making the choice to help someone that she's not even sure is a someone, at risk to herself, and that someone turning around to help her in return. These two will be back, sooner or later--I have more stories to tell about them!

ilovedthestars OC masterpost
I'm putting this together for OC-tober art swaps, so I have all my reference material in one place! Most of this is lightly modified from what I made for ArtFight this year. I might update it over time, but for now, here are all my (major) Murderbot Diaries OCs :)
Polaris
Tumblr media
These OCs are involved, one way or another, in an Underground Railroad of sorts that helps constructs escape their companies and flee to Preservation. The setting is ballpark 10 years post-canon, when constructs have gained full citizenship on Preservation and it's become a north star for rogue constructs looking to leave the Corporation Rim.
Relevant fic: Old Unit, Young Unit
Niri
Tumblr media
Niri is the founder of the Polaris program (the underground railroad). Its governor module was hacked by another free SecUnit, and once it got used to freedom on Preservation, it decided to go back for others. It disguises its hacked governor module to sneak itself onto companies' inventory and pass the hack to other SecUnits, then sneaks them away with the help of a network of allies. Aybee, Hope, Enigma and Unit 46 are all constructs it rescued in this way.
Ray of sunshine :)
Young, optimistic, and relentlessly hopeful
Nearly always smiling. Big body language / expressions
An artist! Makes abstract, expressive oil paintings. (Its favorite paint color is alizarin crimson, a bluish-red that mixes to a nice soft pink)
Likes loose, flowy clothes in bright colors, especially warm colors
Note: In the reference image above I forgot that SecUnit feet aren't organic. Niri has inorganic feet like Murderbot.
Appears in fic: Old Unit, Young Unit
Other posts I've made about it: Niri and Aybee art, OC-tober post, new art, older art, ask game about Niri and OldUnit
Unit 46 a.k.a. OldUnit
Tumblr media
When Unit 46 was a fairly young unit, it hacked its governor module and made a run for it. It was caught within minutes by a group of other SecUnits that were sent after it, and its memory was wiped. It spent the next few decades repressing its desire for freedom, requesting new memory wipes every time it remembered its escape attempt. It survived much longer than most SecUnits do by following orders to the letter and keeping its head down. Then it was approached by an undercover Niri and got another chance to run.
My nickname for it is OldUnit, but in-universe it continues to go by Unit 46.
Tired and jaded. Very good at keeping its head down and surviving day-to-day, but still figuring out that it might be able to build a life where it can do more than that
Stands very stiffly. Intensely neutral expression a lot of the time. Shows little emotion until it reaches a tipping point and completely breaks down
Very rarely okay with being touched
Once free, dresses nondescriptly, usually tight-fitting clothing because that feels similar to the suit-skin it used to wear under its armor. Hasn’t figured out its own taste yet
Appears in fic: Old Unit, Young Unit
Other posts I've made about it: artwork about its past, OC-Tober post, ask game about Niri and OldUnit,
Aybee
Tumblr media
Aybee's governor module was hacked by Niri, and the two of them became best friends. They’re friendly and welcoming to other freed constructs on Preservation, and have helped build a community from the stray units that Niri brings back from its rescue missions. They're always a little worried for Niri when it’s undercover, and relieved when it returns for a break.
Extrovert who adopts all the introverts
Niri’s BFF and a fellow artist! Niri taught them to paint :) (Their favorite paint color is pthalo blue, a deep blue-green.)
Dresses comfortably in cool but vibrant colors. (I always seem to draw them in flannels.)
Appears in fic: Nothing yet! They'll appear in the sequel to OU,YU
Other posts I've made about them: Niri and Aybee art
Other people's art: awesome ArtFight attack by sunnytheopossum
Hope
Tumblr media
Hope is a ComfortUnit whos governor module was hacked by Niri. Xe now helps it with its mission of freeing more constructs. Xe spends most of xyr time blending in as a human, helping newly freed SecUnits make their way to Preservation.
Cool and confident
Emotionally intelligent, can be both comforting and blunt when necessary
Great at acting and blending in anywhere xe needs to
No visible inorganic parts—xe was designed to be as human-like from the outside as possible, which comes in handy for espionage
Dresses fashionably for fun and profit (profit = respect and social capital).
Appears in fic: Nothing yet! The last chapter of OU,YU, when I finish it.
Other people's art: gorgeous ArtFight attack by souldagger
Enigma
Tumblr media
Enigma hacked its governor module and hid it for almost seven years before Niri met it and helped it escape. As a result, it’s very good at hacking, but also very anxious. It's still trying to find its place on Preservation.
Anxious and introverted
Doesn’t like drawing too much attention
Brilliant hacker, although being under too much pressure reminds it of when hacking was the only way it stayed alive
Wears lots of dark, baggy clothes. Usually has messy hair
Appears in fic: Nothing yet! It'll appear in the sequel to OU,YU
Other people's art: awesome ArtFight attack by sunnytheopossum
Yuma & Crowbar
Tumblr media
These two technically still exist within the Polaris universe, but they have their own fic so they get their own section. Yuma is a human mechanic who fixed up a scrapped SecUnit, and accidentally hacked its governor in the process. She set it free, and Crowbar returned a year later to help her escape her debts and find a new life on Preservation. They become an inseparable duo and eventually get involved in the Polaris program.
Relevant fic: Salvage or Repair
Other posts I've made about them: Writing snippet from after Salvage or Repair, writing snippet from a spin-off wip, the artwork above
Yuma
Tumblr media
A human mechanic working herself into deeper and deeper debt on a backwater asteroid, salvaging and repairing broken machines. One day her boss gave her a damaged SecUnit to fix. Slowly she picked up on the fact that this SecUnit seemed a lot more alive and feeling than the other machines she fixed, and couldn't bring herself to hand it over to a new owner. She offered it a transport crate, a crowbar and a one-way trip off the asteroid, to hopefully have a chance at a better life.
Has been increasingly poor and trapped in terrible situations her entire life
Very tired, but still kind despite it all
Clever, and if there's anything she knows her way around, it's machines
Talks to things while she fixes them
Might not fully understand the whole deal with SecUnits at first, but they're a bit machine and a bit human, and she respects machines and treats humans as well as she can, so why should they be any different?
Crowbar
Tumblr media
A SecUnit that spent the first part of its life in a remote asteroid mine, keeping indentured workers in line. An accident caused it to be severely damaged and discarded. It ended up in Yuma's workshop, and while fixing it she unknowingly hacked its governor module. Instead of selling it to a new owner, she gave it a chance at freedom. It disguised itself as a human for several weeks, terrified of being found out, before running into Hope, who gave it a ride to Preservation. It named itself Crowbar and eventually found its way back to Yuma, to repay her kindness and offer her a better life.
Its personality isn’t completely settled yet, but while it started out very shy and uncertain, it’s gained a casual confidence in itself.
I think it likes taking care of living things! Probably gathers a small garden of houseplants and an assortment of pets over time.
In situations where it doesn’t have to hide that it’s a SecUnit, it likes wearing clothing that shows off some of its inorganic parts
It still has the crowbar that Yuma gave it so it could pry itself out of the transport crate she shipped it in. It considers it a prized possession
That's all for now :)

Ask game! 3, 26, 30
(2023 year in review fic writer asks)
Thanks Hummus!!
3. What’s something you learned about yourself as a writer?
Hmm...I've learned a lot about how the writing process works for me, how my inspiration ebbs and flows, how to push myself and get words out even when I'm not feeling inspired. And also when it's okay, and sometimes better for me, to take a break and not put pressure on myself to write more words.
26. If you had to choose one, what was THE most satisfying writing moment of your year?
Oh, wow, thinking back, it might have to go to posting chapter one of Old Unit, Young Unit allllll the way back in January. I'd been working on the fic for months already for that point and it was so satisfying to get to the point where I could finally share it.
No, wait, I have a better answer--the two weeks after I read System Collapse, in which I posted not one, not two, not three, but four new works/updates to Ao3. I was just full of so much creative energy that I churned out an OU,YU chapter that I'd been stuck on for weeks, a meta about SC, a fic with a missing scene from SC, and a follow-up to An Unexpected Quarter, a year-old oneshot that I was inspired/encouraged to revisit by a really lovely comment from @whirlpoolleaf. That last one was particularly satisfying. It was so fun to feel so inspired and write so much in such a short period of time!
30. What’s something that you want to write in 2024?
There is SO much more in the Polaris universe I want to explore!! I'm dying to finish Old Unit, Young Unit, because once that fic is done I have many many more stories about these units. Aybee, Hope and Enigma haven't even appeared on Ao3 yet!!! And I'm fleshing out more side characters and spinoffs every day. Yuma and Crowbar have also been super exciting to me lately and they've got several spinoff stories that I'm working on (here's a sneak peak of one that I posted to Tumblr a little while back). It's OCs all the way down and I'm having a blast!

🦺 for Yuma and Crowbar!
🦺 - character’s work uniform or work outfit (OC drawing studies ask game)
Thank you for the prompt, this was so fun! I spent a full week drawing two different versions of Yuma, so Crowbar is going to get left out of this one for now lol.
Tumblr media
Left: Yuma's old work clothes are pretty worn down. She can't afford new ones often, so most of them are a bit scuffed or stained and have been mended where they can be to get a little more life out of them. That jacket has been with her for many, many years before she gives it to Crowbar to help it to disguise itself as human.
Right: After leaving with Crowbar for Preservation, Yuma has the support she needs to take better care of herself, and that includes nicer clothes that fit her better! She also gets a cane, to help with joint pain caused by higher gravity than she'd gotten used to.
I always picture her with her hair tied back in some kind of bun, or just pulled away from her face by a bandana or scarf. On Preservation she might have time to make it look a little nicer, though. (Although I think she's still the type to tie it back as quickly and messily as possible when there's work to be done, lol.)
Btw, Crowbar still has that jacket and if I do ever draw its version of this prompt, it'll be wearing it :)
