YAYAYAYAY OKAY

so basically i don't have everything planned out yet but what i have in mind is that akane takes junpei's place in the story and vice versa, but also aoi's in a sense??

she's a college dropout who was initially studying fashion design, but couldn't keep going due to her poor mental health. she has severe survivors guilt bc of what happened 9 years prior . and wishes it was her who died instead. i also want the characters' outfits and bracelet numbers + code names to be different. i have a headcanon that akane wears menhera fashion so i wanted to integrate that here

as for junpei he essentially is in akane's situation as indicated in canon. hongou kidnapped the wrong person so instead of it being aoi, it's junpei though tbh i might change that.. and junpei is the one who dies and gets trapped in a paradox.. eventually he and akane reunite and he asks her to plan the nonary game and it doesn't take her long to accept the offer. akane doesn't tell aoi anything that happened so he's sorta in the dark kinda like how lotus is w her daughters

other things of note:

akane got into college via financial aid

nona and ennea replace the field siblings

akane's backstory stays the same and so does junpei's, their circumstances have changed. in a post 999 world, you'd still get akane's descent into saviorism though

personalities r generally the same otherwise

can u tell who my favorites are from this post alone DHAKDJKAJD i do plan on figuring out how everyone else fits into this.. hongou's role is the same tho. or maybe not who knows lol

idk if i'll ever write this idea, this is moreso smth i think abt for fun and an alternative to other roleswap aus i've seen for this fandom and others,, also i've been meaning to play around w the zeropei idea

7. when ppl actually characterize her correctly LMAOOOO esp when it comes to her morals and personality bc some ppl either just make her Just zero or Just murasaki* and they're missing the point!!!!

8. a Lot.. moreso the misogyny and ableism . like there's a subset of ppl who believe that aoi is zero or that someone else should've been zero when akanes the only one who Can be zero!! like i'm not opposed to aus and such, im making zeroshift which has junpei as zero . but like it doesn't rlly make sense for anyone else to be zero and idk attributing a woman's contributions to a man is uhh. kinda bad!!! very bad

also the ppl who call ztd akane a yandere just bc she's trying to kill carlos.. like she isn't waifufied in ztd she's lost control and is in the environment that traumatized her!!! she's in grief!!!! leave her alone smh . ppl boiling her down to just an "extension of a cishet relationship" is rlly reductive

i also wish ppl saw her suicidality more.. like she wouldn't argue w ppl abt her quantum state bc she isn't suicidal, she would argue w ppl bc she's a hypocrite LOL . also her childishness isn't rlly explored in fan works and i wish it was

12. i have a few hcs for akane actually!! i like the idea that she's plural since i'm plural w an akane fictive (june!! *which is why i refer to 999 akane as murasaki so as to not mix them up). she's an aspec lesbian (or aroace, whatever i'm feeling), she prob used to go on girlsgogames when she was younger

15. mirakane!!!! i've talked abt them a lot in my tag though i have yet to post a fic abt them 😭 i've written a few but they're unpublished . idk it just makes so much sense to me and it's sucks that there r only five of us .. shout-out to them though bc like being the #1 fan of a rarepair is Suffering (we all share the role of number 1 fan)

alright folks here r our participants + codenames

1. hongou stays the same as ace

2. musashidou is part of the game, but he dies in the captains quarters as in canon so u don't see him till later

3. akane, aka yuri (or lily in english). a lily has three petals. a pink one represents femininity, love, admiration (as she tends to perform these things due to her fragmented identity/for the sake of the game). a red one represents lofty aspirations, which makes sense given her goals both in this au and canon. her name also means red, or anything similar such as crimson. also she's gay. is actually bracelet 0

4. kubota becomes bracelet four, but dies early on. ppl just call him four

5. aoi is bracelet 5 + sorta takes junpei and lotus' place in simplistic terms. codename: apollo. conflated with helios, personfication of the sun in 5th century bce . symbolized by silver arrows (is known as silver by junpei), wolves (characterized as a lone wolf by uchikoshi), the sun (foreshadows vlr)

6. junpei, but ofc is actually bracelet 9. codename: dog / inu . tends to be represented by dogs, he's born in 2006 which is year of the dog in japanese astrology (and i think chinese astrology as well?)

7. seven stays the same both in role and bracelet number

8. ennea, replaces light's role in the story. codename: oct
