All great empires fall, and it was the once-United States of America’s desperate pursuit of innovation that spelled its doom. A country born of the restless, generations of settler families come in search of mana and honey, believing it would one day reveal the Promised Land. They spend years building what they believe is a democracy, told they were free, told they would be rewarded. A nation is born and its innovators see the future: man, machine, they are one. So was the dream. But what followed was the reckoning.

As citizens turned their eyes to shiny holograms and screens, lulled into synthetic complacency, the government splintered. Between the North with its crowning jewel, Metropolis, built so high they believed they lived among the gods, and the South, whose resources and workers wield the world on their backs, and no longer will they be left behind; a wedge does not divide, it shatters. 

What is broken is supposed to heal with time—but as the clock strikes twelve, the new millennium gives rise to the brave, to the bold. Because as the country sowed seeds of greed and distrust amongst themselves, those who shift the cosmic balance await. In this new world, past and present are obsolete—in the year 2000, all we have is the future.

ZEROTONIN is an upcoming 21+ DC Comics AU/Elseworld RP coming to JCINK, centered in a heightened alternate dystopian reality of the year 2000, with a neo-futuristic/neo noir/Y2K setting.
