Happy #internationaltapdanceday to all the shoes and rappers that have come across in my life. Nothing fills my heart more than seeing what amazing progress tap is having in the world. This genre of dance is unique and wonderful and every year I love it more and more. I cannot thank my teachers enough for helping me fall in love with such an amazing art ❤️

Real Life for a Moment...

Messing up isn’t easy. Well, it’s easy to mess up, not so easy to get over it though.  What’s worse is if you mess up with someone; a test in school is okay to mess up on, but messing up someone’s emotions isn’t.  I messed up big time with someone special to me.  He was everything to me: I looked up to him as tap dancer, I looked to him for guidance, not just because he was one of my my inspirations, but because he was my friend.  But now, he hates me, and as much as I want to deny my behavior or blame it ALL on him... I can’t.  I am definitely at fault for a large majority of our falling out, but all I want to do now is let bygones be bygones and move on.  We dance together and I am just tired of the cold shoulder every time we’re in rehearsal; when’s he’s there, I feel like everyone just sees me as this bad guy.

I love tap more than anything in the world: it’s what keeps me breathing and what makes me smile every day, ever since I was 3.  Then why is it that now, tapping just doesn’t feel the same without him?  Maybe it’s just how I associate rehearsals now with him around, I don’t know.  All I know is that I miss my friend, and as much as I want to hate him and be angry and scream and yell and curse...I can’t, because I’d rather have him to be happy.

Thank you for letting me expel some emotions; they need to be let loose and I appreciate those who care.

Gregory Hines: Tap (1989) "Let The Man Dance!"

Gregory Hines Week continues! Today, we look back at one of his best performances, the movie “Tap”.  This scene is my all-time favorite.  Just like Greg, I have those moments where one noise just turns into an entire dance in my mind! His improv is so amazing. So come on, Let the man dance!

My #tapspiration of the week is the one and only Gregory Hines. He was truly a tap visionary who stood the test of time. To this day, watching him dance in any video or movie fills me with the utmost joy; what I wouldn't give to have taken his class. With Gregory Hines’ birthday on Sunday, many tap dancers, including Anthony Morigerato from OperationTap, are celebrating his life and career throughout the week. I’ll be spending this week posting videos, photos, facts, and even post trivia/opinion questions about the wonderful man. Can’t wait!

World Tap Championship

With the World Tap Championship beginning this week in Riesa, Germany, there will be tappers from all over the world gathering in one city to tap their hearts out.  Tap is universal, so I pose a question to all you tappers out there: Have you ever had the opportunity to meet a tapper from a different country? What was your experience like?
