Kahoot! for finals review?
Would it work well, or am I wasting my time? Should I just do something more “old school”?

My example paragraph for tomorrow's essay on the election:
Big Bird is the best presidential candidate because he believes in helping imaginary friends, he is dedicated to helping kids learn how to read, and he has promised to clean up the streets. First, Big Bird said in an interview with Grover that, “I have many friends who are imaginary. Just yesterday, do you know what I said? I said to my friend Mr. Snuffleupagus that getting equal rights for imaginary people is at the top of my list for when I become president.” This quote shows that Big Bird is truly dedicated to improving the rights of imaginary people and insuring that they have equal protection under the law. In other words, those of us who are guilty only of being thought up in a child’s imagination will finally have their Constitutional rights in America. Big Bird has also said…

When people tell me I did a good job talking to district honchos and the fancy educational consultant in the meeting today. Meanwhile, class sizes are up 20-30% because they cut a slew of teachers last year.

Some days I come home and I'm just too tired to live. I think to myself that what I do keeps me from having any sort of life, and that 60 hours of work a week for 36,000 a year isn't worth it. Other days I come home and think through my day. Within 12 hours I've seen a massive art project come to fruition from kids' hands, I've seen a room full of 12 year olds completely engaged in learning economics by using technology, I've had kids give each other a spontaneous round of applause during a debate about African Americans serving during the Revolutionary War, and I've counseled frightened teens on what to do if they encounter a scary clown (truth). Now I'm home drinking tea and about to eat pizza, and I'm thinking about how much I love my job. A day like today doesn't cancel out a day like yesterday. I don't know what the answer is and what I should do long term. But I do know that today was a good day.

Thinking about putting this on my opening slide tomorrow.  But I won’t because the kids are so hyped about this clown thing it may legitimately end in violence.  It’s temping though...

One of the other history teachers let me borrow his iPad cart to give my quiz today.  This was the first time I’ve had the kids take a quiz on iPads instead of paper tests, and it probably saved me 2-3 hours of time all told.  By 4:30 I’m like...
