-『月』- he listened, having met the man a few times. Sanada Yukimura hm? The man who was at the Seige of Osaka. I - I do not trust him, Mikazuki wanted to say yet he stayed his tongue, mere dislike was not enough to warrant council. “Please do not think of this matter any longer tonight, you still have much time -”
“I understand, I shall bring you some tea -” and with a rustle of robes he turned to go, returning a few minutes later carrying a tray with a pot of tea and a single cup as well as a small earthwaren jar containing the best leaves and a small bamboo scooper, a smaller version of a proper tea ceremony. “I do believe this is your favorite?”

“If only that were true.” War waited for no one, after all, and if Ieyasu didn’t act quickly, then he’d only be handing advantages over to the Western army with each passing day.
“You have good memory. I’m honored you remembered something trivial like this,” he chuckled, though his gaze was focused more on Mikazuki’s fair countenance than on the tea. “...It must be frustrating for you to always be kept inside, even though you’re a sword. You can tell me honestly--does it bother you?”

“...It must look silly, doesn’t it? That in order to bring peace, how war must be met with war?” And loss, of course, with loss.

-『月』- “Not particularly, but I am sure that everything shall be lively again now that you are here, master -” a fond smile was returned easily, dark eyes lighting up with joy. “Were the negotiations particularly taxing? Come, let me fetch you some tea alright? This is what I can do as your blade, so please let me do it -”

“Haha, to be honest, it’s exactly how I imagined it’d be. Sanada Yukimura is a worthy successor; cub is what we call him now, but I don’t doubt he’ll prove to be the most vicious of us yet.” It was... a little disconcerting, to be honest, not unlike a shadow that loomed over him in his sleep. “Tea would be good, though; thank you.”

tsukinoken replied to your post:"Ah master, you have returned -"
“Shall I bring you anything? A change of clothing? Perhaps have the servants draw you a warm bath?”
“Ah--no, it’s alright! You shouldn’t worry about things like that,” Ieyasu replied, pausing momentarily to offer Mikazuki a warm smile before unclasping the gauntlets from around his hands. “I’d ask how your day was, but things haven’t been too eventful here for a while, has it?”

“I’m back, Mikazuki. Sorry I was gone for so long; my talks with the young cub of Kai didn’t quite go as expected...”

When Ieyasu looks at his hands, he doesn’t see dried blood and torn flesh, cracked skin and fading scars; he sees dreams and hopes and a future of peace, nestled within a land that’s united and strong. In it, there are all kinds of people–strong warriors and weak villagers, learned scholars and illiterate townsfolk–and they all look to the rising sun with a smile.
That’s what he’s fighting for. That’s what he must survive for.
And yet, with each blow of his fists and each command to attack, the future that he’s been yearning to grasp seems to slip through his fingers. Every ally breeds a new enemy, and war must be waged in order to stop yet another war. Still, despite the weight–despite the heavy burdens that try to drag him down, despite each tear that threatens to drown him–Ieyasu stands tall with the sun at his back. He’s grown from his days as a young general, when self-preservation made him into a coward bowed low with shame, and when his own weakness led him to cower behind Tadakatsu’s shadow. What had scared him only makes him stronger, now.
