I hate to put things on hold, I know I was kinda on a roll with Red here recently, but I have been slowly gaining momentum with my writing energy, and I really feel like turning it towards some of my own work. It’s very fun to throw Tetsuo and Red at everyone, but I have a series and two or three standalone novels waiting on me to get off my lazy butt and write them. I may pop in to throw send in a meme or something on occasion, but for now, my activity will be near zip.

I may give up and trundle back in in time for Fallout 76 RP, but hopefully, whenever I get back into RP, I’ll be that much closer to being an actual author.

Tetsuo does want children. Aside from having a family and children being the norm where he grew up, acting as basically a third parent to his younger siblings  -- as trying as it was at times -- showed him that being a caretaker fit his personality very well. For most of his life thus far, the desire wasn’t even something that seemed far-fetched: he had always assumed that he would have kids. It wasn’t until recently that he realized that it might not happen. He might be killed before he has kids, he might never find someone to start a family with, etc. It’s not something he likes thinking about.

It’s also one reason he’s really coming to love his accidental robot daughter.

🐶Are they a cuddler?

I would say Tetsuo is a passive cuddler. Most of the time, during the day, he’s on the move too much to really relax and cuddle. And while he tends not to be overtly physically affectionate, he’s not opposed to some close quality time. Especially during times where something has happened to make it impossible to work, such as a snowstorm during the winter or radstorm. Rather than spend that time fretting over all the stuff he has to do, he wouldn’t mind relaxing and spending time with them.

Surface information, yes. Tetsuo has no issue with telling friends and family about being in a relationship, and some of the things going on. That being said, he’s not keen on sharing intimate details of the relationship with everyone he knows. If there’s been strain on the relationship, or trouble in general, he might let his closest friends know, but otherwise it’s something he’d keep to himself.

♦️Are they concerned with the social status of their partner?

Not extremely. So far as the normal range of social class or financial position, he’s definitely not concerned about how that might affect him. If they were of significantly high social standing, he might be a little concerned about how his own standing might be affecting them. Or, if they were a social pariah who had never spoken to another human being in thirty years, he might be a bit worried about their well being, but that’s more from the not talking to anyone for thirty years, and less about where they fall in what’s left of society.

I suppose you could bring up raiders and the type as kind of ‘social status’ of the Commonwealth, however the idea of Tetsuo being in a relationship with someone who is actively leading the life of a raider is so unlikely that it doesn’t much warrant consideration.

Even through the pile of debris, Holly could hear Red rolling around on the other side. There was something frantic about the movements, hurried. As if it wanted to get through the rubble. It occurred to her that Red thought she was in danger, and was, for lack of a better word, worried. That in and of itself was strange. Surely robots weren’t capable of such feelings. But she could think of no other explanation.

“….I’m fine, I swear,” Holly said again, though knowing that she was reassuring a damn robot felt very bizarre, “If there was anything dangerous in here I reckon it woulda had at me by now. I’ll be out pretty quick I think.”

Red stayed right next to the opening in the rubble, trying to limit her fidgeting, but still emitting an occasional odd click or hum. There was an odd mix of feelings, excitement at what might be found, and anxiety that something might go wrong. So Red stayed quiet, trying not to bother or distract Holly while she searched.

The relative silence seemed to stretch on forever, and while the sentry was paying close attention to every noise coming from the other room to begin with, it wasn’t too long before her mind began to wander, and Holly’s sudden question tore her from her thoughts.

“Oh. Of course.” Red wheeled back away from the opening a bit, head beginning to scan about for the bag. Quickly spotting it, she rolled over, a small manipulator reaching down to clasp the straps, and soon Red was on her way back towards Holly.

“Here it is,” she said, hydraulics whining as Red settled down as low as she could. The manipulator stretched forwards, reaching about halfway through the rubble. “Did you find anything? Are there holotapes?”

After getting to know Rori a while, Tetsuo starts letting more of his humor, especially pre-war jokes, show through. He tries to keep a good sense of humor in general, but around Rori he tends to let jokes fly without filtering quite as much. Whether its from her rubbing off on him, or eroding the filter of politeness he has, a few inappropriate comments do start sneaking through.

Tetsuo acts relaxed around Audrey. To be fair, he’s decently relaxed around most people, but with Audrey, it is an act. He definitely does not feel relaxed when speaking with her, but he has no desire to show any signs that he conflicted about the return of the Minutemen. That might change, he might actually relax around her if their dealings become less tense, but for the time being, he’s feigning comfort.

After the first couple of times around her, Tetsuo never wears his sunglasses around Holly. It’s something he does situationally for most people, whenever conversation turns more personal, or he’s trying to negotiate with someone, but whenever Holly shows up the sunglasses are off. For the most part, it’s because he recognizes that Holly isn’t a very trusting person, at least not easily trusting, and he’s subconsciously being more open by making his expression more easily read. He’s vaguely aware that he does it, but the motion of taking off his sunglasses is so practiced and ingrained in muscle memory that it tends to fly beneath the radar and go without any real thought.

Flo studied the man for a moment. He certainly seemed sincere enough. Mistakes happened, after all. "Yeah, heard you sold water and that you might be able to point me in the direction of... uh..." Flo paused long enough to check her PipBoy for the note she had made. "Bunker Hill?"

Tetsuo leaned forward, propping his elbows on the rail of the porch. “Right on both accounts,” he said, giving a brief nod. His eyes fell on the device on her wrist, and his brow furrowed slightly with interest.

“Ain’t seen many folks with those around,” he commented, voice picking up slightly with his curiosity. “Should be even easier to get you directions with that.” He pushed himself up from the railing, rubbing the small of his back for a moment as he took in a slow breath. “If you need water let’s go ahead and take care of that. I got some cold in the fridge if you need it.”

“Oh, was it scavenged from a, uh what are they call – assaultron? Or a different bot? Do you… do you like it?” Rori hesitated only slightly, uncertain as to whether or not the sentry bot would have a preference for their voice. 

“There aren’t many, no, but we’re getting there,” she admitted with a small, slightly proud smile. “The main settlement could use some water purifiers, and we don’t really have anyone at the moment who can build something like that. They’ve managed to scavenge parts, but nothing that they can figure out how to make work. I’m sure there would be caps in it for you, even if I was the one to provide them.”

The man didn’t seem entirely for the idea, but at least she had offered. Whether or not he accepted was up to him.

“Settlement is being targeted by raiders. A small band of them, but they’re organized enough to cause some damage. They asked me to help clear them out, so that’s what I aim to do.” 

“It was scavenged from a hospital announcement system, from what Tetsuo says,” Red answered before Tetsuo had the chance to speak. “It is a good vocal processor that allows for flexibility as far as content, however there is no function to allow for vocal inflection. I sound this kind and pleasant, even when I want to beat someone to death.”

A strange hiss escaped through Tetsuo’s teeth as he choked back a sudden chuckle, and fought to keep his face straight as he shook his head, and looked back at Rori. “I got the tools to build the purifiers,” he said, giving a slight nod. “It’ll take me a while as I go, but I can write down how they’re built, and train a few folks how to keep them up. I’ll only be able to stay up that way about two days a week, which make things a bit slow, but,” gesturing behind him in the direction of the boathouse, he gave a shrug, “got a lot of things to keep up here myself. Ain’t gonna take too long, though, if you already got the parts.”

There was a moment of pause, and the mechanic’s brows furrowed a bit in thought. “Reckon there are few enough of ‘em that you can clear out, or are you goin’ in to take care of it with some help from the settlement?”

She had expected Red to object to referring to Tetsuo as her dad, or at the very least ignore it, but she did the exact opposite. Casey grinned, and a part of her  couldn’t help but think that this was something he would probably never get around to teach Red. 

Casey watched as Red unfolded the arm from beneath the massive minigun, and the grin remained on her face all the while. “Yeah, that was good,” she told her with an eager nod. “Now try again, like this,” Casey added, and while Red held her ‘hand’ in as close to a fist like position as she could manage, Casey bumped her own fist against it to indicate the speed and force that should be used. 

Casey’s grin was reassuring, however Red watched with a little bit of confusion as she demonstrated a true form fist bump. The issue wasn’t the speed, Red simply watched her movement and was able to clock her fists’s movement speed. The issue was more the force. Red had been extremely gentle, due to her previous experience with physical contact with humans. They were all so squishy, and seemed to express pain at small amounts of force.

“I think I could replicate that,” Red said, trying to give Casey some sense that the demonstration was useful, “however I can’t feel that. I do not have touch sensors or force gauges sensitive enough to function as such.” Estimating, though, she pulled back the claw, and threw it forward again at the same speed Casey had. The results, however, might not have been as pleasant, with hard steel ramming into knuckles.
