You know Franciso de Goya? Yeah that Goya. The one who painted "saturn devouring his son" and the other 13 of what are called his "black paintings", which are dark, creepy, and while you might not know all the other ones, if you only vaguely recognise the name Goya, the first image to pop into your head is probably this one:

Unless you've got an art history degree. This post isn't aimed at people with an art history degree. Anyway, those of you who aren't into art history probably only vaguely know the story, of how he was a painter and these 14 were his private paintings, only painted for himself, not commissioned by a customer and never intended to be publicly displayed. People were shocked when they were first discovered, due to how starkly different they were from his other, more traditional and conventional paintings.

This is the part I want you to meditate on: Goya also made plenty of normal art for normal people. A whole bunch of perfectly normal paintings.

A MERGE GAME?!?! A BOARD GAME AND A MERGE GAME?!? Bloody spoiled we are this year (apparently, the game is not available in my country, but I'm sure an APK will fix it).

So... is the Candyland Fandom so dead there's barely no talk on how HASBRO RELEASED A NEW CANDYLAND GAME?!?! WITH ALMOST ALL THE DESIGNS FROM THE 1980's VERSION BUT REVAMPED?!

I do have to wonder why he was gone for so many years though, it can't be because of public domain because the Lorax is still under copyright (2067). But again... with no talk of it online except for the listings on the Hasbro site and 2 TikToks, I wonder if he's why. Or it's because it was announced 2 weeks ago at a convention, idk-

Putting these 3 together bc they share the same space now, and wow... I did not realize how geographically splotchy the games were. Like, the two climates that are cold and the two climates often combined to make a sweet aren't near each other, but split? I mean, not much of an issue with Grandma Nutt and Gloppy since they were like, seperated by one land, but look at the others!

And the last three games had the cold climates polar to each other and the Grandma Nut/Gloppy being cut out!

Ik this is a Baby's First Game, but it's intresting to point out the lil details that get left behind. Then again, I'm not a geo-expert, so maybe this can happen IRL where similar climates can be split in the same region?

King Kandy, back to his beautiful pinky-glory! Ik all the other designs are meant to be like "Wow, he's very old, must've been ruling for some time" but I'M SUCH A SUCKER FOR HIS PINK BEARD AND HIS WRAPPER-LIKE ATTIRE HE LOOKS LIKE A CUTE GRANDPA!!

It seems that much like Grandma Nutt, he's decided to step down from the throne and take over Ice Cream Float, or Ice Cream Beach as it's now called, which he fits very well with his new Ice Cream crown. I also love his otter friend.

No Jolly this time around (weird, you'd think with Plumpy being back it'd cause a ha-loo, but maybe Jolly was the price for Plumpy) but instead these two bears!! I want to bring up the players/lore later, but apparently according to the listing they're Sweety and Soury, tho tbh I think they're names should be Gumm and Grumm. Other than that... um.. next character!

Nothing much to comment on Lolly since she's basically her OG design but with brown eyes and darker skin. But she's equally adorable, def has King Kandy (actually.. is that his name now?? With the ice cream theming? idk)

Bringing up these two again bc WHAT DID THEY DO TO MINT?! Um... canon 1980's Mint design with full eyes is going to be a... bit to get used to. But I love with the new switch up of candy elements for Queen/King she looks like those dress cakes with the barbies, and the sprinkles and frill adds to it! Ah, I can't wait for ppl to talk abt this more!

*Yes, those two are the same person. No, it's not a Jekyll & Hyde situation. Rather, it's what happens when Robin finally accepts he's the Bad Baronet, Ruthven (left is Robin, right is Ruthven)

*For those who don't know the story, he and his ancestors were cursed to cause at least one crime per day or else they die. However, he escaped the curse, sort of, by faking his death and going by another name, Robin Oakapple. This also leads to his brother taking the throne

*Of course, this goes just as well as you think, and he gets found out as the Bad Baronet, driving everyone away and leading him to fulfill the curse.

*And to simplify this story you should 100% watch, then he discovers suicide is a crime, therefore doesn't do any crime at all as that, according to the curse, suicide, and he breaks from the curse the second time
