I'm really enjoying making my love for this niche movie everyone else's problem; I just think it's neat :)
I just had to make something with this angle from the movie, it's so beautiful.

being anti ai is making me feel like in going insane. "you asked for thoughts about your characters backstory and i put it into chat gpt for ideas". studies have proven its making people dumber. "i asked ai to generate this meal plan". its causing water shortages where its data centers are built. "ill generate some pictures for the dnd campaign". its spreading misinformation. "meta, generate an image of this guy doing something stupid". its trained off stolen images, writing, video, audio. "i was talking with my snapchat ai-" theres no way to verify what its doing with the information it collects. "youtube is impletmenting ai based age verification". my work has an entire graphics media department and has still put ai generated motivational posters up everywhere. ai playlists. ai facial verification. google ai microsoft ai meta ai snapchat ai. everyone treats it as a novelty. every treats it as a mandatory part of life. am i the only one who sees it? am i paranoid? am i going insane? jesus fucking christ. if i have to hear one more "well at least-" "but it does-" "but you can-" im about to lose it. i shouldnt have to jump through hoops to avoid the evil machine. have you no principles? no goddamn spine? am i the weird one here?

YouTube is implementing an AI policy that tracks your watch history and determines your age with it. The only way to be able to continue watching the videos you want on YouTube if you've been falsley flagged as a minor by their AI is to give YouTube your government ID. This is being implemented in the US right now. It is essential to rage against this and put YouTube in the fucking ground if they continue with it—that may be the only way to make them backtrack. But damn isn't that hard to do when responding to this announcement with a polite but negative comment flags you for violating community guidelines and bans you from even posting it?

500-year-old Snake Figure from Peru (Incan Empire), c. 1450-1532 CE: this fiber craft snake was made from cotton and camelid hair, and it has a total length of 86.4cm (about 34in)
Tumblr media
This piece was crafted by shaping a cotton core into the basic form of a snake and then wrapping it in structural cords. Colorful threads were then used to create the surface pattern, producing a zig-zag design that covers most of the snake's body. Some of its facial features were also decorated with embroidery.
Tumblr media
A double-braided rope is attached to the distal end of the snake's body, near the tip of its tail, and another rope is attached along the ventral side, where it forms a small loop just behind the snake's lower jaw. Similar features have been found in other serpentine figures from the same region/time period, suggesting that these objects may have been designed for a common purpose.
Tumblr media
Very little is known about the original function and significance of these artifacts; they may have been created as decorative elements, costume elements, ceremonial props, toys, gifts, grave goods, or simply as pieces of artwork.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art argues that this figure might have been used as a prop during a particular Andean tradition:
In a ritual combat known as ayllar, snakes made of wool were used as projectiles. This effigy snake may have been worn around the neck—a powerful personal adornment of the paramount Inca and his allies—until it was needed as a weapon. The wearer would then grab the cord, swing the snake, and hurl it in the direction of the opponent. The heavy head would propel the figure forward. The simultaneous release of many would produce a scenario of “flying snakes” thrown at enemies.
The same custom is described in an account from a Spanish chronicler named Cristóbal de Albornoz, who referred to the tradition as "the game of the ayllus and the Amaru" ("El juego de los ayllus y el Amaru").
The image below depicts a very similar artifact from the same region/time period.

I have a million better endings for them rotating in my head. At heart they’re all based on the idea of: what if the cycle of violence actually ended? I know the end of Frank’s story in the show is supposed to feel like a victory, like we defeated the enemy, but it never seemed that way to me. I could go way more in depth, but basically I don’t like it because it means Frank isn’t the 4077th’s problem anymore, but it’s nothing more than that. He’s still going to go home to an unhealthy marriage and the kids he never wanted, and they’ll grow up damaged, and nothing will ever change. I’m pulling her out of that scenario one drawing and one fanfiction at a time. AND BOY IT’LL HURT! But it’s also fun :]

in a world where a prominent branch of anti-trans activism focuses on fearmongering about "parents' rights," trans rights and youth rights become inextricable.
trans kids deserve to be called the right pronouns and the right name by schools and doctor's offices, regardless of "parental consent." trans kids deserve to undergo the right puberty at the same time as their cis peers, regardless of "parental consent."
the very concept of "parents' rights" is a smokescreen that enables the abuse and dehumanization of children by adults. this is bad for cis kids, too.

Pay attention to the particulars of Mastercard's responses, because this a textbook example of how to create plausible deniability.
"Mastercard has not barred any legal transaction" is, technically, a true statement – because Mastercard is not the one processing the transactions in the first place. Mastercard does not deal directly with any merchant, and in fact typically refuses to communicate with merchants at all; there's always a payment processing service sitting in between Mastercard and the merchant, whether that's Stripe or Paypal or any of dozens of other service providers.
Consequently, there are two layers of service agreements in place: the agreement between Mastercard and the payment processing service, and the agreement between the payment processing service and the merchant. That second layer of service agreements, between the payment processing service and the merchant, is where all of these content restrictions are being imposed. Mastercard can thus truthfully claim that they aren't barring legal transactions.
Now, if you've been paying attention, you've probably already spotted the issue: if the content restrictions are being imposed upon the merchants by individual payment processing services and not by Mastercard, why do all of those payment processing services seem to have exactly the same content restrictions?
That's where the critical sleight of hand comes in: while Mastercard's own terms of service do not require payment processing services to bar transactions of particular types, their ToS does require payment processors to bar transactions which could be damaging to the Mastercard brand. What constitutes damage to the Mastercard brand is not defined; it means whatever Mastercard wants it to mean. The payment processing services are thus in a position where they can be held in breach of Mastercard's terms of service for basically any reason, which gives them a strong incentive not to test any boundaries.
And that's why Mastercard can truthfully say they have never barred any legal transaction: they're never the ones doing the blocking. The layer of payment processing services that sits between Mastercard and the merchants are enforcing those content restrictions, based on a series of unwritten handshake agreements between the payment processors and Mastercard regarding what does and does not constitute acceptable content – and because the particulars of those handshake agreements aren't in writing, Mastercard can assert that their terms of service do not compel payment processing services to bar any legal transaction and technically be telling the truth.

stop censoring yourself!! it is something i keep seeing young kids on here doing and its so disheartening. censorship is inherently fascist. you need to say what you mean, you need to talk about uncomfortable topics, if we allow social media algorithms to impact how we speak in real life we are doomed. people are not unalived they are killed or murdered, people are not 🍇ed they are raped. if you can not speak about the realities of oppresion and violence truthfully you might aswell not be speaking at all.

In Whipping Girl, Julia Serano proposes that we drop "passing" as a term. Instead of passing or not passing, we are either correctly gendered or misgendered. This is to de-artificialize our genders, after all, am I a man trying to pass myself off as a woman? Or am I just a woman who cis people, due to their own prejudice, look at and assume is a man? Of course, it is the latter.
She also proposes to change what some call "passing privilege" to "conditional cissexual privilege." This is to emphasize how while passing can be a privilege in many respects, it is also a conditional privilege that is only given to you if you have the luck, effort, and money necessary to be good enough in the eyes of the cis person. One that can be easily revoked if they clock you or discover your trans status in any way.

"you don't owe anyone anything" You are a tar pit. Speak for yourself. I personally owe the cafe employees my dishes put away and my friends a listening ear and small scared insects a cup and a gentle trip outside. Hyperindividualism is a rancid infection borne of capitalism and willfully misinterpreted therapyspeak and I will defy it by continuing to be kind regardless of whether or not it benefits me personally

Me when I catch myself thinking "I wonder what it's like to be chosen by somebody" but then I remember my best friend chooses to be my best friend and my mutuals choose to follow me and the minimum wage employee chooses to give me sincere kindness that I remember years later because I was going through a hard time and it meant a lot

“What man of you, having a hundred sheep, if he has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open country, and go after the one that is lost, until he finds it?"
isn't it kind of crazy that mulcahy is enlisted. he isn't even drafted. do you think he enlisted because he's such a man of action that he saw where he was going to be the most needed and went, both entering the most hypermasculine space possible after being abused growing up about how he isn't man enough & risking life and limb, while hanging onto his softness and decency. a move that he keeps echoing throughout the show when he does stuff like stare down the soldier with the gun or deal with the black market to get supplies & echoing his people's devotion to continuing to secretly preach in the hills on rocks under threat of death by english priest-hunters. isn't it kind of crazy how he gets there and is basically the acting chief mourner as the sole person around for miles who is responsible for giving every dying soldier's last rites and spiritually processing the dead. isn't it kind of crazy to enlist as a psychopomp. isn't it kind of crazy how he does that and is so insistent with continuing to be helpful and assists in OR so much that the surgeons trust him to take over in triage or stand in for a nurse when there aren't enough hands to go around. isnt it kind of crazy that he does all that and still doesn't think he's useful
