On the one hand, getting to actually send inbox things in character again and less confusion when fishing for more rp peeps to play with.

Oof, yeah, that’s a pretty decent recipe for shyness.

Thing is, it’s not that I only RP with a certain group of people as much as that I know and trust the people I primarily RP with, and because I am also a bol of super anxious it’s always going to be a bit eep when there are new people. 

Not to mention I’ve been RPing for nearly… dang, 13 years now? I’ve got some worn-in habits and peeves that can seem like a bit much to throw at someone else when I don’t know if it’s gonna work out, and I don’t wanna be a conceited asshole at someone who just wants to have a different kind of fun than I do. Or get in a big internet fight because I happen to think someone is Horribly And Terribly Wrong and I Can’t Let It Go. Generally speaking, I try and stay in my lane rather than be a dick to someone who just doesn’t know better because they don’t know me, you know?

As for me messaging first, ha. Sometimes I do if I know there’s a potential for interest, but generally speaking I’m in the same boat as a lot of people of thinking AAH! REJECTION! NOOOO!! and end up passively watching. And quite a few times I do reach out I get paranoid that I’m over-doing it and getting too enthusiastic to the point of the other party going ‘yikes’ exit stage right asap. And sometimes – I can’t be sure – but I have reason to think I’m right. And that’s okay, because they aren’t obligated to take a chance on me any more than I on them. Still sucks, but c’est la vie.

Now, I still do the thing, and I met a lot of cool people because of that, but if you want me to notice you specifically? You gotta lemme know. And I can’t guarantee that it’s gonna work out. But you’ll feel better for having tried if only just because that means you get to move on and find someone better fitting than me.

What's your rp pet peeve?

People shoving into my character’s physical spaces without any preamble, probably. 

Like, I’m down for spontaneity in play, don’t get me wrong, but unless we’ve had a chance to chat it up beforehand in ooc or I’ve set up a starter that places my character or I’m following up a starter that places their character or there’s a meme thing involved it’s really jarring when someone just bursts into my askbox with a HI I AM IN YOUR SPACE NOW if it’s not happening in-character on the internet.

Like, my characters are usually armed and dangerous and jumpy I’m not sure you wanna be doing that. Lasers to the faceballs.

I know this probably makes me hard to approach, especially to new people, but baby steps out of my comfort zone.
