ultimately the best way to prevent abuse is to organize society in such a way that everyone's needs are met wothout having to rely on a parent or employer or boyfriend or any one individual. obviously wont stop, like, manipulation or so on, but the ability to dangle basic needs over someone's head is one of the most powerful and consistant tools of abuse out there. if someone is able to just leave, and know that they will have access to food and shelter and clean water and education, that will enable so, so mamy victims of abuse to do just that.

so i've been rereading Hunger Pangs and yesterday i started reading some funny bits out loud to my mom. and then i make some comment about the author (maybe something about Nathan's silver poisoning and Joy's mercury poisoning?), and she's like... wait, who's the author? and i say @thebibliosphere and she goes:

"I didn't know she wrote The Hunger Games."

obviously when people talk about their brains being rewired they're exaggerating for comedic effect... but i think Shawn Hatosy may have legitimately rewired my brain???

except the feeling is sexual attraction towards fictional characters, and instead of "again" it seems to be for the first time??? like i've never actually felt this way before, and now i'm like... there's a bunch of things i've enjoyed for horny reasons that i need to rewatch because i will now be enjoying them MUCH MORE
