Really, this had been merciful of Phil. At least it had been hate instead of fear, at least he hadn't had to see the disgust in his partner's eyes as he looked down at him.

He thinks about taking the earring off, but his hands tremble when he starts fiddling with it, so he leaves it be, trying not to wonder if it had ever felt this heavy before.
