"Luckily for me, there's been more good days than bad, lately," Daphne mused, features shifting for a moment before she put on a bright smile. It had been years since she'd felt as good as she did right now. Daphne let out a light laugh at Lorelai's words. She'd known the detective for years and she knew how true it was. "You getting a day off or you taking a day off?" Daphne asked, eyebrow rising at her friend, challenging almost. "If there's one thing I've learnt over the years it's that people need to take time out for themselves," she explained, smiling softly, lifting a shoulder in a shrug.

“Good. I thought I was on time and then I saw you here already,” Daphne replied with a light smile, head tilting a little as she spoke. At her words, Daphne couldn’t help but laugh a little, eyes meeting her friends for a moment. “I do? It’s just been a good day, that’s all. How about you?” She asked then. “I feel like it’s been forever since we’ve seen each other,” Daphne mused, looking over her friend.

“ good. ”the detective fiddles with the stopper of her earring, watching daphne’s features shake off such a comment. sometimes it felt like sunshine came out of that woman’s ass, a sentiment that leaves a chortle upon her lips. you probably needed at least someone in your life emitting positivity before you lost hold of it yourself. the following comment sends a dry yet amused laugh. “ i’m chained to the job. ” not daphne wouldn’t know by now, “ halley’s comet passing is more likely than me getting a day off. ” perhaps lorelai’s inability to accept one might be the real culprit here, yet it proved easier to deny her unhealthy dedication to the job around those who gave a damn.

Coffee with Lorelai was not something Daphne got to do often, her schedule wasn’t always aligned with the other woman’s. Fortunately however, today was a day that they’d been able to plan and actually keep a coffee date. Daphne was coming from her office, thankfully she’d spent most of the day on the phone at her desk and not running around like she sometimes had to do.
She breezed into the coffee shop, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear as she looked around the place before spotting her friend. “Lorelai!” She called, making her way over to her friend with a grin. “I hope you weren’t waiting too long,” Daphne apologised, moving to sit down opposite the Detective.

a kind smile, she acknowledges the familiar waves of red hair, sporting a smile breaching her features. daphne always seemed to hold a presence in the room, or at least that’s what lorelai had observed. she doesn’t have that many close friends, not really having the time of day to properly invest in long term relationships. having that opportunity to bond came with enticement and apprehension. for no particular reason she could put her finger on. “ no, i’d just sat down. you seem chipper today. ”

Daphne: Are you just setting me up with random women? Jesus.
Daphne: I appreciate that babe but you don't need to find me anyone.
Ruby: Not RANDOM... they are regulars and I know they aren't serial killers I swear
Ruby: Okay. I'll stop... but if you ever feel like you need someone... I have a few others options up my sleeve...
Daphne: How do you know that? Serial killers send flowers.
Daphne: I'm not sure I need someone...I'm pretty sure you said that. But, idk it just feels weird...dating.

The Richards-Lawson Wedding was driving Daphne crazy; both bride and groom were stepping well into Bridezilla territory and quite frankly, Daphne was close to being done. But, as always, she simply put on a smile and a calming voice and got on with it. Which was why she was at the Romano Hotel, where they’d insisted on holding the wedding, meeting with Leo Romano himself.
Daphne smiles as she see’s him, standing from her seat, smoothing out the skirt of her dress reflexively. She grinned at his words, shaking her head. “You can call me Daphne. I’m sure I’ve told you before,” Daphne replied with a smile, tone light and teasing. “It may be more interesting, but I can’t say no to a coffee,” Daphne replied, following him as he walked. “I need it if I’m going to have to go over this with you,” she said with a laugh, gesturing to the wedding folder in her bag.

If it wasn’t for the extreme need to prove himself a worthy heir to the Romano Hotel network, Leonard would’ve grabbed his jacket and walked out of the main door a few hours ago. It would get boring, at times, to manage a place that was so full of people. Luckily, he’d find ways to entertain himself, one of them being the woman he just noticed as he walked out of his office – Daphne. He smiles to himself, predicting a few jokes on their way already as he closes the door behind him, now walking towards her. “Beautiful and charming as always, Ms. King. Can I take you for a coffee in the lobby or is that plan list way more interesting than me? – Don’t answer that, I know the answer already.” The smile that remained in his lips gave a clear idea of what was going through his mind. “Come.” @thedaphneking

Daphne simply shrugged, still smiling at the other woman. “No problem really,” she replied with a bit of a chuckle.
Her eyebrows rose in amusement then at the blonde’s words as she glanced back at the little girl. “Oh. I guess that makes sense. Not that I’m around enough kids to know if it’s true or not,” Daphne replied a little awkwardly, shrugging her shoulders. She chuckled again then. “Really? Well, I guess that means you’d know how to deal with her?”
“Daphne. It’s nice to meet you,” Daphne replied, before shaking her head. “Sure, if you want. Though it’s really not necessary. I don’t think I helped all that much,” she said with a laugh.

Daphne had been on her morning run and then stopped for her first coffee of the day before heading back to her apartment when she was stopped by two dogs and their owner. She couldn’t help but smile a little as the woman righted herself, her dogs must’ve been very powerful. “Morning,” she replied, with a nod of her head. Her shoulder’s shrugged a little. “The day’s only just begun but it definitely looks like it’ll be a nice day,” Daphne said, glancing down at the two dogs. “Do you mind if I pet them?” She asked, already wanting to reach down to them.

Taking her morning run, dogs in tow, was one of Cassia’s favorite parts of the day — it gave her the peace and quiet to think. Too wrapped up in her thoughts, she didn’t realize there was someone else nearby until one dog slowed and the other stopped, tugging on their leashes. Righting herself, she looked up and gave the other person a small smile. “Good morning. Nice day, isn’t it?”

The smile that graced Daphne’s lips was one she couldn’t stop, and she wasn’t so sure she’d try to if she could either. She shook her head though, looking over at Amara. “No, no. They haven’t gone unnoticed. Don’t worry,” she told her with a slight laugh.
She shrugged a little, a hand coming up to twirl a strand of her between her fingers, as she focused on Amara. “It’s not as sad as that, trust me,” she informed her with a grin and a laugh. She raised an eyebrow then, smiling a little sheepishly. “Can I let you in on a little secret?” She asked, leaning just the slightest bit closer. “I’m not actually that big a fan of cake…” she admitted, shrugging her shoulders sheepishly. “You don’t hate me do you?” She asked, the teasing clear in her voice.
Her eyes glanced up at the other woman then, a little wide with surprise. That was not a confession she’d been expecting. Yet, it shouldn’t have surprised her. She’d seen the way Amara looked at her but it had only been very recently that she realised she was very attracted to the other woman as well. She wasn’t quite sure what to do about it, it had been a long time since she’d found herself attracted to someone like this and that, unfortunately, hadn’t ended up well for her. But, she was sure Amara was different.
“Well, you’re welcome, I suppose. For...making you realise you’ve got a thing,” she replied teasingly, eyes alight with mischief. It couldn’t hurt to flirt back with her a little. It certainly helped that Amara made her feel so comfortable and at ease; it helped that she was gorgeous too.
Daphne focused back on work then, shaking her head as she realised her mind had drifted. That seemed to happen a lot around Amara. “You’re so right. I’ll never understand couples that just choose whatever,” Daphne agreed, nodding her head. “Obviously I know the whole wedding isn’t about a cake. But, it’s part of the experience you get to share. Luckily I haven’t seen too many couples be so cavalier with it,” she said with a sigh and slight shake of her head. A wedding cake wasn’t the be all, end all of a wedding but she’d always thought them important.
She glanced over the dates, noting down a few as she did so and sending them through to Elle. Her assistant would contact the couple and get an appointment sorted out. “Thank you. I’m sure one of them will work. I’ll have Elle sort it out and then get back to you,” Daphne said, sounding rather business like as Amara’s assistant packed up and said her goodbyes.
She watched then as Amara turned the sign from open to closed and brought a piece of cake over to the table. She closed her own folders and put them away, laughing at the other woman’s words as she did so. “Okay, okay. I’ll make sure to only say good things about it,” she teased, tongue flicking out over her lips for a moment as she picked up the fork. She used it to break off a small slice of the cake, bringing it to her lips to eat with ease.
“Hm,” she started, after finishing the small bite, nodding her head at Amara. “It’s actually not bad. It’s interesting and the poppy seeds give it a bit of kick,” Daphne continued, smiling over at the other woman. “I’m not sure I’d eat it all the time. But it’s certainly a nice little treat.”

“Oh, my gosh! No, it’s fine,” Daphne exclaimed as a woman came running over to retrieve the dog that was currently pressed against her. The dog looked happy and playful and Daphne couldn’t resist petting him behind the ears. She’d had a dog growing up but he’d died when she was 18 and she’d not had a pet since. Though her heart still had a soft spot for the animals.
“He just seems very excited, that’s all. He must be enjoying getting to play in the park,” Daphne replied lightly, laughing a little as she looked between the dog and the owner. “Have you had him for very long?” She asked curiously.

Ana was out walking her golden retriever across Central Park. It was nice to get some fresh air after days say in a warm room working. The dog was young and not well-trained yet. All of her siblings were too lazy to bother looking after it so somehow it had fallen to her to deal with. “Shit! Sorry!” she was forced to yell over when the dog ran after another person in the park and wouldn’t come back to her. Ana ran after it, catching up with the dog and the other person. “I am so sorry, honestly. I’ve never had a dog before.”

An eyebrow rose as Daphne tried to keep the smile on her lips under control at Amara’s words. “Will it?” She asked curiously, trying not to sound too insecure or eager about the words the other woman had said.
She chuckled then, shaking her head as the other woman spoke once more. “Even if I wasn’t busy and making sure everything runs smoothly, I probably wouldn’t take any cake. It’s not exactly part of the job,” Daphne told her with a cheeky grin and a slight laugh.
Her teeth sunk into her bottom lip then at the other woman’s words, surprised almost by them. She glanced down at her folder, focusing on it for a moment as she spoke. “Really? I...I didn’t realise that was a thing for you,” she murmured lightly, a nervous giggle escaping her.
Daphne shook her head then, getting herself back into work mode. She nodded. “I think they’ll want to see some samples beforehand honestly. They have with everything else,” Daphne told her with a grin. She glanced back up at her then, lips pressed together in thought. “Hm. A week? Maybe two?” She suggested. “It’ll depend on whether they’re able to make it. They’ve both got busy schedules apparently.”

Daphne laughed lightly at Amara’s words, nodding a little. She understood completely what the other woman was talking about. “Trust me, I definitely understand,” she admitted with an amused little smile. It was funny how at ease and comfortable she felt around Amara. “Some of the weddings I’ve planned...while all different in their own ways, obviously, can certainly seem very...similar. That’s probably the best way to describe it,” she told her with a nod and a shrug.
“I think it’s always fun to experiment with flavors,” Daphne told her with a grin. Her eyes lit up a little at the offer of trying the days special. She certainly couldn’t turn that down, could she. “I can stay and try it,” Daphne told her with a grin. She had no more meetings for the afternoon and if Elle needed her, she could ring. “It sounds delicious and it’s made by you, so it must be,” Daphne told her with a playful smirk.

“I certainly hope so. I’ve spent a lot of time working on it,” Daphne mused lightly, watching the other woman looking over the folder. She knew she shouldn’t but she couldn’t help admiring how beautiful the other woman looked as she concentrated on the folder and then on the sketch she was drawing up.
Daphne leant closer, tucking a strand of red hair behind her ear as she peaked a look at what Amara was drawing. Her eyes flittered up from the drawing to watch Amara bite at her bottom lip, her own lips pressing together to keep her thoughts from straying to anything less than professional. Her eyes were still on the baker though and she startled a little when the other woman started to talk.
“Oh. Uh, yeah. That sounds like a good idea,” Daphne told Amara with a nod, eyes glancing down at the table, hoping her fair skin wasn’t showing the blush she felt heating her cheeks. “Honestly, the design looks beautiful,” Daphne complimented, eyes finally meeting Amara’s once again, showing her earnestness.
Her brows furrowed in curiosity then. “Those are some interesting combinations,” Daphne commented, nodding. “I do think they might like that though. Do you do a lot of pairings like that?” She asked curiously, head tilted as she looked at the other woman attentively.

Daphne laughed a little at her words. She’d always tried to be punctual, it was a trait she’d learnt from her father but even still, she always worried that she was never on time. So it was always a relief when she didn’t leave people waiting. “Thank you,” she told Amara, moving to sit down across from the other woman with ease.
She couldn’t help but chuckle once again at her words, shaking her head as she placed their folder down on the table. “It certainly would,” Daphne murmured in agreement. She flipped open their file, finding the page she wanted before setting her eyes on Amara once again. She slid the folder over a little, leaning into the other woman a little, a soft shy smile gracing her lips.
“Basically, they want a boho theme type wedding. So, I figure the cake can’t be too traditional for them. You know?” Daphne started, glancing up at the brunette. “No fruit cake or carrot cake, anything like that. Possibly vegan or gluten free options too. Not that they’ve said as much but, you know, I have a feeling,” Daphne told her with a laugh.

Cherry on Top bakery was one of Daphne’s favorites. It was a place she was always sending clients as well as dropping in on when she had the chance. Their wedding cakes were amazing, as well as all the other baked goods they made too.
Today was one of the days she’d decided to drop in. She was simply organising a cake testing menu; she could’ve done it over the phone or even had Elle do it. But Daphne liked going into the bakery and as she pushed open the door of the lovely store, breathing in the freshly baked smell, she smiled as she saw the bakery owner, Amara Azar.
“I hope I’m not late,” Daphne greeted, smiling widely at the other woman. She made her way over to the baker, folder and planner in her arms, glad to see her. She and Amara had known each other a long time now, a good baker that made delicious wedding cakes was essential for a wedding planner to know. As far as Daphne was concerned at least.
“This couple have no idea what they want, so...” She started, grinning as she chuckled a little, eyes meeting Amara’s as she shrugged.
