March 4th 1969 - A V.I.P. visits the set of 'The Magic Christian' (Princess Margaret turns up too)🌼🌼🌼
Barry Miles (author of The Beatles Diary): "Princess Margaret met Ringo when she visited the set of The Magic Christian at Twickenham Studios to see her friend Peter Sellers. Paul and Linda were also there."💐
Monthly magazine for Beatles fans (No 69, April 1969): "On Tuesday, March 4th, Princess Margaret paid an unscheduled visit to Twickenham Studios, arriving at eleven in the morning and staying there until five o'clock in the evening. She watched as the stars - Ringo Starr and Peter Sellers - rehearsed and filmed some of the film's first scenes. Other visitors that day included Paul with Linda Eastman and Mary Hopkin. In the afternoon, Paul spent a lot of time sitting next to the Princess and talking enthusiastically about something."🪷

From the Paul McCartney exhibit at De Young in SF. It made me think a lot about the Beatles as real people who were suddenly on a trajectory to something really extraordinary.

The ending of this one 😿

TMNT: THE LAST RONIN II: RE-EVOLUTION #5
APRIL 2025 By Tom Waltz, Kevin Eastman , Esau & Isaac Escorza, Ben Bishop, Luis Antonio Delgado, and Shawn Lee.
The Turtles and the resistance must defend their island... but a sequel surprised them all!

RATING: OKAY
You know, if this wasn't a TMNT book, I wouldn't continue reading it.
I have spoilery thoughts, so let's cover the basics here.
The story is a bit disappointing. We were presented with all these characters that now feel too much like a misdirect. The Turtles were barely in this story, so I have to say that seeing human characters die is a plus for this book.
I love the Ben Bishop pages, but I find the Escorza pages a bit inconsistent. Some of them look gorgeous and impossible to stop appreciating, and others feel distorted. Especially the turtles. It made sense in the first miniseries because there was a justification for Mikey's increased size, but these turtles are young.
Okay, let's move on to spoilers.
So, April is dead, and I cannot believe that I am relieved. I liked her in the one-shot that came out during Lost Years. But I felt like it was the time for her to leave, especially after a new human reporter was introduced.
What are my problems with this project?
Well, it takes forever to tell this story. The whole mini-series was like the first episode of a TV show, but it took a year to complete.
I am not sure why it has to be this slow (Lost Years didn't have this problem). I think this has to do with the Escorza brothers' speed, and because they did the first mini-series and this is clearly a curated universe, it makes sense that all the miniseries in the Roninverse will be slow and painful. But it doesn't need to be published in this format.
Hear me out... What if they follow a manga model? Keep the irregular schedule (quarterly?), but add more pages to each issue, and make sure that each of those is a BOOK. So a mini-series like this one, should fit in one book. People will pay for it. Just do it. Deliver chapters with three acts, and I won't care how much it takes to finish the whole saga.
As it is, this story introduced a lot of characters that ended up dying, and it was essentially, a first act (now that we know this is a story about the Hamatos versus the Foot again).
The next mini-series should be much better. I would honestly turn this comic into an ongoing series, but I guess that the delays wouldn't make that possible.
But then again, how big is this universe? Because it felt like it was expanding, but it is now returning to the clans. So... I am a bit lost with the Roninverse. I'd like it to stay contained to the clan feud if they cannot start an ongoing series. Otherwise, all these characters and plots will end up feeling rushed.
TL;DR... keep it simple... keep episodes tight... change the format to whatever makes sense for the frequency.
I am okay with how it ended... but I do feel like we didn't get enough Turtles.
