A week’s gone by...
A week’s gone by since I landed in Dublin; or almost. It was quite a ride; and an emotional roller coaster like I did not foresee.
The town of Monaghan where I work and the town of Carrickmacross are both lovely places and certainly I am glad to have come here; but Carrickmacross prevailed and I have decided to settle here for good.
Maybe the neighborhood, maybe something else but mostly the lovely couple I am staying with is what “pushed me” to this decision, so starting from December 1st I should be renting my own property right here in Carrickamcross.
As I said, the couple is lovely and they have greatly helped me in this transition; going out of their way to show me around, include me in the activities and give advice; which is maybe the most important segment of it all.
The drive to work is a bit on the longer side, particularly considering the local norm for the short commute, but the half an hour drive gives me an opportunity to clear my head and maybe catch up on my Audible library :).
It is harder, though, than I thought it would be this separation from the family. I miss my girls very much; and frankly I don’t know which is worse - not hearing from them or seeing them and than hanging up... I just hope this next 2 weeks go by fast.
Yesterday we, the host family and I, went to a nearby town for Christmas lights ceremony and it was a wonderful small town event. You can truly feel the warmth of the people and the community. It made me feel glad to be a part of it, but also - you guessed it; sad and missing my family, wishing they were here to share the experience with me... You’ll probably see that through out the blog; the sad sap routine... but I do really miss them, and it will change when they get here. That’s probably why I haven’t really put any effort in this thing so far. I’m waiting for the mood to improve; surely the content will follow. Not that anyone is reading this; it is more of a form for the little one to backtrack a bit on this entire life changing experience.
In the meantime, I’ll go brood in my room with a cup of tea :P

An exercise in futility.
Looking back, I've always been a bit of wanderer and found a wonderful match in my Wife; so the decision to relocate from Croatia to Ireland wasn't all that hard nor strange. This blog will be an exercise in futility to record the journey, if for nothing else my baby girl who will be our (willing, I hope) "partner in crime".
The writting will continue until the content improves (or Wife finally succeeds in making me realize I should quit).
