This is a devotional piece I made for Hades, God of the Underworld.
The pattern is Divine Queen of Skulls by Ann Wanamaker and the yarn is YarnArt Flowers Moonlight. I also added some chainmail embellishments using Helm links in shades of gold and copper.
Hail Hades! ❤️

I deal with chronic pain as well as chronic tinnitus. This prayer was inspired by that struggle.
Beneath the noise,
beneath the ache,
there is a quiet place
not made of silence,
but of presence.
Here, even the ringing
has a place.
Even the pain
is held.
I am not broken.
I am beautiful.
I am not alone.
I am accompanied,
by breath,
by stillness,
by unseen hands
that cradle me
with knowing.
I will let the world be
what it is for now.
I do not have to rise.
I do not have to shine.
I only have to be.
And that, will always,
be enough.

After taking an incredibly long break from crocheting (almost 2 years), I am now finding my way back. Of course it is only fitting that my return plushie is a Loki!
Over the course of the years that I had my Etsy shop, Loki was by and far my most popular amigurumi. With that said, there were parts of the design that I wished I could have changed but never had the chance....until now!
This updated design now has a different expression (including eyebrows, he was very insistent on the eyebrows...😂), a different hem on the jacket, two tone hair, and I was even able to incorporate a bit of chainmail. This is also the first time I have intentionally posed a plushie design.
It definitely took some getting used to the changes, but I pretty pleased with the end result.
Hail Loki!

A Sigil of Protection
By the elemental hand, we call for care,
A sacred touch to guard and share.
By cross, we find the balanced way,
To shield and guide throughout each day.
By hexagon, the bonds align,
A community both strong and kind.
By lines of fairness, bold and true,
Equality shines in all we do.
By arrow’s aim, our will takes flight,
A dedication forged in light.
By key, we lock what must remain,
A haven safe from fear and pain.
By trail, we walk with steady pace,
Endurance flows through time and space.
Bound by these, the sigil stands,
A shield of power in our hands.
So it is, our will be done,
Our time is now, together as one.

I have been learning digital art using the Sketchbook app for the last several months in the hopes that I might be able to draw Loki someday.
I finished this Loki portrait today. I originally had copy/pasted some clip art eyes but decided that I would rather try the eyes myself. I found an awesome YouTube tutorial and couldn't be happier with the results.
The last step for this piece was to filter it through Photoshop to enhance the colors.
I can't believe I actually drew this! 🥰

I am still chainmailling! It only took about a year and a half but I have finally defeated my arch nemmy weave - Half Persian 4 in 1!!
Now that I have this one figured out, I am definitely going to be making more pieces with it. I just absolutely love the way it looks even in something as simple as bright aluminum. Rings are 16 gauge swg 9/32" ID with an AR of 4.7.

I have lived in Illinois for over 25 years and although this bird is quite common, this is my first time seeing one!!
My joy and excitement is off the charts right now! Check one for the birding bucket list - the Downy Woodpecker!
According to "Animal Speak" by Ted Andrews:
When woodpecker comes into your life, it indicates that the foundation is there. It is now safe to follow your own rhythms.
This message couldn't have come at a better time. 🥰

This piece began with a literal dream - I had a dream that I was crocheting a Medusa plushie.
Of course, since I am currently not crocheting, I was unable to make the dream a reality. I did try to figure it out though...😂
Fast forward a month or so, I came across this amazing Medusa pendant and I had that bolt of lightning sensation hit me. I knew then, that I needed to make a chainmail piece with the pendant as the centerpiece.
This is the result! The weave is offset Byzantine using 2 sizes of 18 gauge rings. There are over 500 rings in this necklace so it was a true labor of love!
The camera just does not capture how dynamic this piece is in person. It is a statement piece for sure.

It has been awhile since I have posted anything as I have been dealing with a lot.
I finally had to admit to myself that crocheting plushies was taking too much of a toll on my physical health. Because of that, I had to make the difficult decision to no longer offer plushies for sale.
Fortunately, there is a silver lining to this story in that I have found a new passion - chainmail!
My Etsy shop is now MothWoven Maille and I am excited to start this new adventure. I can also be found on IG and Threads as mothwovenmaille.
I just finished up this Christmas themed charm bracelet and will be working on a Medusa necklace next!

You know when you are on a spiritual path and you think you have finally found your place, your calling, doing what you are meant to be doing? That feeling when you think you have things figured out, it is such a high isn’t it?
What happens when the trajectory of that path makes a complete 180 and you are left with your head spinning facing so many fears and doubts about everything?
The card in the picture, When Coyote Calls Your Name, is from Colette Baron-Reid’s Dream Weavers Oracle and it was the card I drew for my daily reading for today.
The beginning of September 2022, I had an encounter with the Greek God of Dreams - Morpheus. It was and still is a very profound moment for me but one I wasn’t ready for at the time (one I oftentimes still don’t feel ready for).
Fast forward to earlier this year, Morpheus showed up once again. This time Loki was present and insisted that I answer Morpheus’ call. To do so though would mean a complete change in the dynamic of all my divine relationships, including the one I have with Loki.
And so, I have been living the very essence of When Coyote Calls Your Name since. I have not handled it well and have been resisting at every step even though the experience I had with Morpheus is one that I have longed for and even wished for since I was a child.
Seeing the card today is another reminder that I am still clinging to what I had and not making way for what I need.
The guidebook says “When Coyote Calls Your Name, you will know that this was the best way for you after all. Your life is woven true, and new threads of your experience sparkle. There really was no loss or disappointment at all - only a new, meaningful adventure and a beautiful story to tell.”
The universe knows the truth of my heart, I know the truth of my heart and now that Coyote calls my name, maybe, just maybe I will finally be able to listen and see what dreams await me on this new adventure.
Hail Morpheus, God of Dreams! I praise and honor you! Where you lead, I shall follow. May my dreams be ever safe in your care.

I cannot believe I have to say this but you HAVE to learn about plants on a scientific level if you use herbs in spell crafting. It’s for SAFETY reasons. You CANNOT BURN CERTAIN HERBS and you cannot touch or consume certain herbs. You NEED to know this for every herb you use- it’s not a pick and choose thing you guys it’s SAFETY. ESPECIALLY to my chronically ill witches and practitioners like myself.
Please stop throwing herbs into a fire bc you saw some tiktok witch do it. PLEASE.

For those of you that crochet, here is the chart I designed for my filet crochet altar cloth.
The yarn I used was YarnArt Flowers Moonlight and I used a 2.75 mm hook.
The set up row if you are making this as a filet crochet piece is:
Ch 159, dc in 9th Ch from hook, *ch2, sk 2, dc in next to end of row. Ch3, turn.
You then work the chart beginning at Row 2. Each solid square is 2 dc in the ch2 sp, dc in next (or dc in next 3 dc) and each open square is ch2, dc in next dc (or ch2, sk 2, dc in next dc).
To start each row, rather than using a ch5, I did a stacked sc, ch2.
This chart can also be adapted for color work, corner to corner or even cross stitch. Please feel free to use it however you like just credit the pattern back to The Flyting Fox. 😊
