Private Nightmares, Thoughts on Ep. 8

The main thing I am thinking is everyone should watch this show and suffer the way I am suffering. Alex enjoyed at least half of this episode twice as much as one ought and only half as much as I did which...concerns me. Eddie. Eddie. You are the one to worry about. Katie literally up and snapped an investment banker right outta reality and I still don't trust you. Jade, of course, has some sort of incredible trauma that you could always feel just bristling off of her but now...there's something to lose in this whole scenario. And it's her connections that have risked their unlives. Gable, Gable the cleverest dancing alchemist seems to be more and more aware that he is in a triangle with Eddie and Katie that he knows is not going to be good for him but...he's ignoring that and trying to just...help the others and that makes me sad for him! Katie. Well, Katie. Just one big swing after another and eventually, you hit the motherlode. She is so beautifully complex and as bad as this was, I don't think the right lessons got learned. But for now, there's a little bit of calm and I'm glad she could have that but...wow, WOW, what darkness has to fall to get her there. I do miss Naomi and am very curious to how she would or will react to all of this. What a fantastic, incredible, scalding hot episode.

Thoughts on Episode Seven

Seven, seven, she lives in heaven. Okay. So. No Naomi. :( Any time she's not in an episode, I'm gonna headcanon she's having some sort of romcom scenario with Patrick. What's actually happening is probably...awful. Robert! I knew if they gave him half a chance, he'd do them a solid on the information front. This is the sort of stuff they really need to move forward so I'm glad they got it and Robert got to happily info drop. Loved seeing Alex just get to chat with them a bit more extensively and directly Menopause and now Tzatziki Clans. I won't rest until we've got them all officially mangled. Gable's sire being all...What? I got the care siphoned out of me when I got made, enjoy it or don't, whatevs. It is heartbreaking, but also...this is the story of how the humanity leaves a vampire. When your pain is the whole world and there is no validation you can receive when you can't accept that this happened because the pain you feel is the pain was the pain of your sire, left unacknowledged. Jade again sort of withdrawing as the larger group pushes forward, not seeming unsure, per se, it's just an interesting comparison with Katie sort of surging forth with this statement of...hey, in case I am in any way unclear, I want to find ways to get knowledge and power. This includes feeding on vampires to get there. Robert's basic - hey, don't do that! didn't slow her down for a second. On Jade's part, it's interesting to consider how she reacts after gaining the cursed knowledge about what the letter says and about how Thinbloods are seen. Not a Malkavian but oh so Malkavian. Eddie's sire/kid Freudian slip/stroke. He's the one I am still absolutely keeping my eye on. Beauty aside, he is using his relationships with the rest of the coterie in a way that doesn't feel sustainable. The flirtation is delicious, but...he's trying to play every side. If everyone wants you, nobody's going to hurt you? Katie/Aabria got off some really excellent lines tonight.

Thoughts for Episode Six

I will go back and post about episode 5 - timing was just real bad for gathering thoughts. But for now...it was great. Comic timing throughout was fabulous, the dark turns were sharp and painful and horrifying, there still was that cozy horror I love to see. Ok. Loved Mayanna's intro. That's a nice change of pace and a reminder of the crux of these characters and why I love Vampire. Wasn't sure how it would go without either Gable or Eddie, but shouldn't have. The ladies know what they're about. JADE. MANNY. AAAAAH. The highest high and the lowest low. Thinblood Squad, New Yawk edition Jade and Tre(e) the Salubri(?!) - Jade's just not ready for alla that, she and her baby teeth need baby steps, but I thought it was wonderful that Alex presented her with an NPC who is on another path and experience of Vampire. The Letter from Renee - infuriatingly dismissive and cruel while obviously, this is someone else who has been through incredible trauma Peter and Naomi - the odd submissive streak in that conversation felt like another leg on this apology tour, I hope something gives for her. Magnifico/Coco - I love how thrillingly weird and disturbing and funny that is and how much I both understand and don't want Katie's chosen trajectory to be played out on a poor trapped vampire. But also...I know that it's all a manipulation because there's surely nothing "good" in there. Just fascinating and beautiful and odd resonance with the idea of starting over - I'm getting ready to move overseas from the U.S. and there's such a sense of a clean slate, but how do you do that? Why would you want to? It's a complicated thing, but I hadn't immediately related it to the undead, hah.
