I just found out about Próspera, and I’m shocked.

I recently watched a few documentaries—especially the one by AJ+—and I can’t stop thinking about it. I’m from Honduras, and I had no idea the extent of what was happening on our soil. I remember hearing whispers about the “ZEDEs” when I was younger, but I never understood what they meant or how serious this was.

Now, learning that a private, foreign company has effectively carved out a piece of Honduras to govern it like a corporate enclave—with its own laws, tax system, and courts—is terrifying. It’s surreal. It feels like neocolonialism. Because that’s what this is, isn’t it? A powerful foreign interest gaining control over land and people, using “investment” and “development” as a disguise for dominance and exploitation.

We’re talking about a $10.8 billion lawsuit against Honduras—for daring to reclaim its sovereignty. That number is obscene. It’s dystopian. That money doesn’t even exist here. And while this is happening, communities like Crawfish Rock are resisting, standing their ground, and being silenced or erased.

It makes me sad. It makes me furious. And it makes me wonder—how many other things like this are happening in the shadows of legality, hidden behind fancy words like “innovation” and “opportunity”?

Honduras is not for sale. Our future is not for auction. And people should know what’s happening.
