Team Pack helping to feed the homeless

Kind-hearted workers from The Pack Italian have been helping those in need by cooking up food and dishing it out to the homeless.

Chefs and workers from The Pack visit Blackburn as part of the Community Spirit initiative where several local traders gather to feed those in need every Wednesday evening.

As the nights get colder #teampack donate freshly cooked pasta and garlic bread for the homeless.

Karl Elsworth, owner of The Pack, said: “We support and will continue to support this community project. If we can provide a warm substantial meal for those who need it the most then that is fantastic. I would encourage anyone to get involved with this community initiative.”

Lee Brown, head chef at The Pack, said: “This is a fantastic way to make a difference – the team at the pack have been doing this for a while now and it’s such a rewarding experience.

“We have been able to get out in to Blackburn and support those who need it the most. It’s great we always do a pasta dish, it’s filling, and the food goes down well.

“We would also like to let people know that any donations of tinned or dried ingredients are always appreciated and help towards the meals and they can drop them off here at The Pack.”

Vote for us to win The English Italian Awards!

This year Team Pack have entered one of the most prestigious foodie awards within the business to recognise our efforts in delivering quality Italian food.

We are encouraging votes from our customers to help us win one or all four of the following categories:

BEST PASTA, BEST PIZZA, BEST PIZZERIA and BEST TEAM.

The Italian Awards – now in their fourth year – have gone from strength to strength, due to growth and expansion throughout the UK.

These culinary and hospitality awards are the ones that we want to win and have been endorsed by celebrity chefs from up and down the UK – last year we were finalists but this year we are determined to win!

Past winners include Gino D’Acampo and The San Carlo Group but we reckon our pizza and pasta are up there with the rest.

Also this year we are entering the first ever UK National Pizza Championships in association with the Italian Awards.

Owner of The Pack, Karl Elsworth said: “We believe that we can win if not all – then one of the categories that we have entered.

“Our pizza and pasta are made from scratch using local produce and the best ingredients. The competition is tough but Team Pack can do this! Our award-winning chefs are confident that we will win the votes of our customers. So please vote for us.”

The public will be invited to vote for their favourite Italian venues/businesses across the UK and the five with the most votes in each category will make the final.

This year there is a new category in which The Pack have entered – the National Pizza Championships.

Children enjoy fun and educational pizza making classes at The Pack

Here at The Pack we have launched an eating initiative that encourages children and their families within the community to eat well and enjoy home cooked food.

Staff recently welcomed reception children from Belthorn Academy and pre-school children from the school’s Little Bells to take part in a pizza making session.

Children used fresh ingredients to make pizzas including locally-sourced produce that made for a tasty dish.

Karl Elsworth, owner at the Pack said: “We want to welcome children from the community to the restaurant to get involved in making their own food.

“Something as simple as a pizza is so exciting to make and a great dish that enables children to get involved and see how their food is made.

“Parents often have busy lifestyles and through no fault of their own shove a frozen pizza in the oven and that’s a job done!

“We are inviting local schools to come along and get involved and we’re also doing Pizza Making Parties going forward.”

The mini chefs had their pizzas cooked in the flaming Pizza Oven at the Belthorn restaurant.

Kate Sutcliffe, Reception teacher at Belthorn Academy teacher said: “This was an end of year treat to teach basic cooking skills and to help support our local business.

“It is an opportunity to make food from scratch and pizza is a quick and easy meal. This is a fantastic initiative from The Pack and we are bringing our year six children back next week.”

The Pack Belthorn gets a refurbishment

Our restaurant has had a major facelift just in time for the festive period. The restaurant – which, for all its charm, was beginning to look rather dated – has had a decidedly modern makeover. The bar has been moved to the middle of the room, to open the restaurant up. The menu too has been updated, with our Main Menu, Set Menu, Festive and Xmas Menu. Its been a tough couple of months, but we’ve completed the refurb with outstanding results. A huge thanks to everyone involved!

The 2016 English Italian Awards!

We’re finalists for Best Pizza and Best Pasta in the 2016 English Italian Awards

We’re really looking forward to the Italian Awards this year. We’re so pleased to We will be returning to Manchester’s incredible Palace Hotel for the second English Italian Awards Gala Final on September 18th!

Being a family friendly restaurant it was great to hear the news that the official charity partner for 2016 is the Cheshire based The Childrens’ Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT)

“CAFT is based at the beautiful Booth Bank Farm, a 17th Century farmhouse set in the heart of the Cheshire countryside. They provide a variety of programmes for terminally ill, disabled and disadvantaged children from all over the North West. The needs of the children visiting The Adventure Farm range from complex and severe physical and learning disabilities, sensory impairments and terminal illnesses through to children who act as Carers for a family member, those dealing with bereavement and children who have been victims of abuse.

Each child is treated as an individual with their own strengths, likes and dislikes, disability is never seen as a barrier to participation.”

Awards CEO Warren Paul said of this new partnership, “we’re very happy to be supporting a charity that has such a positive influence on the lives of children and families across the North West. The Italian Awards have always had a close relationship with the general public, as it is they who lead the awards in nominating and supporting their favourite Italian businesses, so it feels like a great fit to showcase and support such a local charity.”
