jupiter's patron has the same last name as the guy who wrote 'Curiosities, Marvels, Spectacles, Singularities, and Phenomena: An Unabridged History of the Wundrous Acts Spectrum (Vol. 307)', do you think that's why jupiter is so well versed in areas concerning wundersmiths? i think it'd be cool if his patron was part of the original sub-9 academic group and wrote those books, or if he was descended from the person who wrote them. got this from the nevermoor wiki, not original!

One thing I’m not clear about is whether Sudbury the patron was also the one that took Bertram in at age 9. Did he take in Bertram because he thought he might be a Wundersmith? Bertram seemed to know about the connection between “cursed children” and Wundersmith and how he wasn’t one. What was it like when it was clear he wasn’t a Wundersmith at all?

It then makes me think that he totally could have instructed Jupiter about various Wundersmith stuff. I don’t think it was a completely comprehensive education, as in the books I think we see him still learning more and more, but I think it was significant enough. I do often wonder why he’s not more involved with Sub-Nine though… maybe he’s just too busy otherwise?

It all kind of adds some more interesting layers to the dynamic between Bertram and Jupiter and their patron. And Jess DID say in one of the recaps that the authors of the books would become relevant, so….. 👀👀👀

in case you needed a reminder

when the ghastly market was being burned down, the angel israfel began to sing, to give the people dying some pleasant final moments. morrigan hesitates, curiosity getting the better of her, and tries to listen to him sing. after one note, jupiter covers her ears to stop her from listening.

i don't know if you notice, but last i checked jupiter only has one pair of hands. he listened to israfel sing, along with all those dead and dying people, and i bet it wasn't the first time

some theories about jupiter, and his patron

jupiter's patron has the same last name as the person who wrote the unabridged wondrous acts book. i think they are either the same person OR or or he's descended from them.

if true, that's probably why jupiter knows so much about wundersmiths despite not having access to the books (wunsoc almost certainly locked them away)

adding onto this, i think israfel is in the same unit as jupiter (or is at least in wunsoc), because he knew EXACTLY what morrigan's knack was. that would make sense if Jupiter's patron passed on the knowledge to jupiter, and Jupiter told israfel, presumably because they were very close (🤨🏳️‍🌈)

another reason i think he's in wunsoc is that he was in the ghastly market. it seems to be specifically to punish wunsoc members, not just people with interesting talents

and jupiter seemed a little too familiar with how israfel sings (show trial???)

he was visiting the black parade because he felt guilty about killing his friends in the massacre, and can't stop himself from paying his respects at least once a year

i truly think the reason squall has calmed down is because he had literally no one to talk to before he apprenticed morrigan. like yeah he was in the wintersea party but he was basically mr. jones the whole time. look if you had to pretend to be a mousy office guy while actually being a serial killer who can control fantasy-electricity YOU'D start barking at dogs too

so yknow how Jupiter and morrigan say that bertram makes them feel kind of sad to be around , he's a bit off-putting, etc.?

im pretty sure that's a cursed child thing and that's why everyone was unsettled by morrigan at first. ex: the wondrous welcome, where baz and noelle both just HATE her on sight (given that noelle was kind of provoked but still)

cursed children don't get away without side effects, even the escaped ones. sure there's the obvious thinking everything's their fault thing, but because they have not had the opportunity to adapt to social etiquette via interactions and had to just kinda guess and check their way through, they can come off as strange or even eerie. and it's probably not just that, they were DESPISED for the majority of their childhood. I don't mean shunned, i mean actively treated like they were better off dead. you don't come away unscathed from that. you don't get to be normal just because you ran.

bertram crow is making me go insane bro. because YEAH he was told to spy on Morrigan by Jupiter, but don't you think he would have at least considered showing up to events even without the push? i mean, she has the face of two people he used to know and care for (somewhat), and has BASICALLY the same life story as him so far. I don't think all that staring was warranted by the spying request, i think he was genuinely alarmed to see such a likeness to the brother he had HATED to leave behind. and maybe he could even see a bit of Meredith in her, he surely noticed their similarities in PERSONALITY if not looks (i.e: the shattered unshatterable glass). and I can't blame him and neither can you, because wouldn't it be startling to you too, if you saw two people you had lost permanently combined to make a girl eerily similar to you? and then she suspects you of a murder and breaks your windows like okay
