There’s a handful of people taking my last text post and running with it in a lot of different directions. Namely ones with a critical vantage point comprehending far beyond the context I was speaking in.

To clarify: -I think confidence is great & healthy -I’m sincerely happy for anybody who overcomes prescribing to mainstream societal norms; rooting for anybody trying to get there. -Yes, fuck Eurocentric beauty standards and fuck body policing. -No, my post wasn’t meant to be about fixating on the “fuck you I’m hot lol” example.

It was an example.

Every time I make a post with a subject matter that falls within the realm of social justice issues a small group of people takes what I am saying completely off base, and has a long drawn out conversation over reblogs to berate the idea and talk about how ignorant they think I am.

90% of the time the point of the post seems to go completely over their heads.

Here is that thing I am talking about. People’s egos – or the effect that being so sure they’re a better person than those they’re criticizing has on these people’s egos – blasting them far beyond the scope of treating somebody like a person rather than an opportunity to play a part in the “hey-look-at how-much-better-I-know-about-this-obscure-ish-thing-I-deserve-all-the-punk-rock-points-watch-me-go” or “ugh-this-rubbed-me-the-wrong-way-so-it-must-be-completely-off-base-and-lets-all-go-off-via-reblogs-and-use-big-words-instead-of-confronting-the-person-and-having-a-dialogue” show.

And correct me if I’m wrong, but actually talk to me as a person. One on one, when you aren’t anonymous, and we’re both conversing as equals.

Done following things that dont really care about us but jus want our attention and money but no love.
