Those who were far enough to not die instantly got sick, and their vision went bad, so when they drew what they saw, many people interpreted it as a skeletal figure, which it was not. This is why Wyth looks more,, i guess alien than human skeleton. * Wither Skeletons - Herobrine, who did not witness the Wither in person, created wither skeletons based on the drawings of the people who did see it.
