long time no see. i just got back from japan where i saw a lot of cute shigaraki merch which made me miss my sonboy and the good old bnha days. i also won some really cute kenma keychains at the gachapon place. my tactic was telling the machine ”you WILL give me kenma” several times and it seems to have worked.

another (slightly less important tbh) thing is that i got engaged!

i also got to pet a capybara 🦡

okay yeah i see where you're coming from with the hinata + oikawa hooked up in brazil but you know what else is fun? the idea that they didn't, but everyone thinks they did, and they cannot convince anyone otherwise.

they just. cannot convince their friends that this did not happen. it haunts them. all they wanted was to play beach volleyball. they cant even figure out who started this rumour or where it came from

it calms down for a bit until the allstar match when someone makes a joke about their reunion and Ushiwaka casually goes "Oh, because of their sexual history?" and Oikawa goes absolutely rabid.

what it means to be saved

Once more, Aizawa thinks of quitting, of pulling his phone out and finishing the letter of resignation he keeps hidden in a draft amongst his grocery lists. But what would he do if Tenko and Himiko were alone at school, unprotected, and there was nothing he could do to help if and when another villain attacked?

He would pay in his own blood, over and over again, if that’s what it took to keep them safe. For a moment, he wonders if that will be his punishment, for letting them apply in the first place.

I saw your post on “If you set up redemption deliver,” and I think you don’t always have to. It can be a very powerful and tragic story twist that punches you in the gut.

That said, MHA does not have the talent to pull that level of writing off. The story has always been unironically sunshine and rainbows and that everyone deserves hope, decency, and happiness. To see MHA take the characters that were robbed of ever knowing a sliver of that hope, who were desperately hurt and traumatized because they had NEVER been given it… It’s disgusting and depressing. It’s pretty much that one sign is “Our expectations were low but HOLY FUCK.” As an abuse survivor, the fucking ending was damn near triggering.

oh yes, i fully agree. if something is set up to be a tragedy from the start, for example, not giving the audience what they’re expecting/hoping for can be done very well. however - bnha, just like you said, was never that kind of story.

ultimately it’s a series that doesn’t deliver on any of the promises it makes in the beginning. not everyone can be a hero and not everyone deserves to be saved. it’s bleak af.
