*Well, here’s a person... a strange, shadow-like humanoid figure sitting close to a campfire.

*It notices you.

*It asks if you want to hear a story.

You sit around the fire, and it begins to tell a story.

Long ago, when the world of Terraria was but a newborn, the heavens were watched over by the Auric Dragons.

*Suddenly, the space around you begins to change, illusions form into a beautiful field beneath a bright sunny sky, and dragons soar overhead.

Their gilded scales burned brighter than the sun itself, and within their souls lay fragments of the very world they guarded. Above them all soared the greatest of their kind, King Zeratros, the sovereign of light, whose mere gaze could drive away the deepest shadows.

*The Dragon King, Zeratros, appeared before you in all his majesty.

Mankind bowed before the dragons, and for their loyalty, they were granted a celestial dominion.

*The ground around you began to rise into the air, forming a breathtaking city in the sky.

But from the distant void of the cosmos came a harbinger of doom, Fovos, whose power rivaled death itself.

*Suddenly, the scene shifted to space, where the dragons were battling Fovos, and sealing him away.

The dragons, led by Zeratros, could only imprison him. Thus, Fovos became the Moon Lord, chained forever to the far side of the moon. Yet the battle left the dragons weakened, and betrayal struck from within, a cunning monk named Xeroc seized Zeratros’s soul and ascended to divinity, abandoning the ancient order.

*Now you find yourselves in a paradise-like place, where Xeroc consumed the soul of the Dragon King.

Thus began the Fall of the Dragons.

Humanity, once grateful, turned against their winged guardians. They hunted them mercilessly until only shadows of their former glory remained, wyverns, Duke Fishrons, and other twisted beasts.

*The creatures it had once spoken of began to emerge from the shadows around you, while far in the distance, a grim sight unfolded, humans slaying dragons and devouring their very souls.

In a world where dragons had once ruled, the gods claimed the throne.

*The creatures began to fade away, and in their place appeared the gods of that distant world.

The Divine Era dawned with new laws and dominions.

The gods reigned over kingdoms, raised grand temples, forged alliances, and gathered vast armies. Yet among mortals rose one who defied them all, a young man named Yharim.

*Around you, kingdoms rose, monuments towered, alliances were forged, and wars ignited. Yet amidst it all, one figure stood apart — poised at the edge of infernal lava, holding a dragon’s egg in his hands.

He scorned the divine gifts…

*He was cast into the lava alongside the egg, yet from the flames, the egg hatched, and a dragon was born. It rose in fury, saved Yharim from the inferno, and reduced all others to ash.

…Instead, he forged a pact with Yharon, the last of the legendary dragons. With vengeance burning in his heart, Yharim vowed to tear down the gods and began his bloody crusade.

*Yharim stood tall before you, while behind him, his allies began to emerge from the shadows, assembling at his side.

By his side stood Permafrost, the wise frost guardian; Calamitas, the dread witch; Draedon, the brilliant artificer who forged iron-clad warriors; and the Devourer of Gods, the manipulative serpent with unknown motives.

One by one, the gods fell beneath Yharim’s hand. Their shattered essences rotted into abominations, the Corruption and the Crimson, which spread across the land like a plague, revealing the sins of those gods.

*You watched as the Corruption and Crimson devoured the earth and all living things nearby, birthing grotesque creatures from their festering depths.

Yet pride and wrath, fed by the power of the Devourer of Gods, consumed Yharim from within.

*You see the Devourer of Gods whispering something to Yharim.

His allies abandoned him, the cities crumbled to dust, and the world drowned in endless wars. Alone, burdened by the weight of his sins, Yharim vanished into exile. From the hatred of countless fallen souls, Polterghast was born, a ghastly specter that shattered what remained of the dragon cult.

*You see Polterghast appear behind Yharim, its hands reaching for his neck, but he simply walks away, not even noticing it.

Thus came the Age of Turmoil.

The gods were gone, the dragons were slain, and the great civilizations burned to ashes. Only ruins whispered of the world’s past splendor.

*All around were the crumbling remains of long-forgotten civilizations, and only the whisper of the wind broke the silence.

Permafrost was entombed in a living prison of ice. Calamitas sank into self-loathing and endless hatred. Draedon continued his relentless experiments, building soulless exo-machines.

*Around them began to appear Yharim’s former followers: Permafrost, sealed within a massive chunk of floating ice; Calamitas, who screamed into the void from grief, pain, and rage, surrounded by burning brimstone flames; Draedon, over whom, in all his glory, towered his magnum opus, the Exomechanics; and the Devourer of Gods, whose mission was complete and who had returned to its home dimension.

And Yharim, broken and forgotten, hid within the Dragon Aerie.

*You found yourselves before Yharim, who sat upon a dragon throne in a ruined, heaven-like place.

Then, at the end of this story, a new one begins, the Terrarian appeared, a hero born to stride through death and chaos.

*you found yourselve behind the figure of a hero, who stood in a ruined yet beautiful world.

He must face the monsters of bygone eras, survive the wars of ancient times, and confront Yharim himself. Yet what fate awaits the world beyond this trial, no one knows. Perhaps it is he who shall decide whether Terraria will rise again from the ashes…

*Suddenly, the illusion around them cracked like glass and shattered, revealing the emptiness surrounding you.

…Or sink forever into the abyss of oblivion.
