i have this regular who comes in (the same one who invited me to the empyrean party) and i asked her who she thought the "brother" was at the end of onyx storm, right?

well she said she thinks it's brennan because he possibly wielded power from the earth to save mira bc he had already lost his mom, his dad, and he'll be damned if he lost one of his sisters.

and i was like

well how would that work if brennan didn't know about xaden...

but perhaps

he already knew about xaden bc he himself is venin.

but i also ask myself the question...if naolin died trying to revive brennan...perhaps brennan never meant to become venin but what if when naolin died attempting to revive him...it kinda backfired? like what if naolin channeled too much from the earth and turned venin but bc he was a siphon, it redistributed to brennan and literally drained naolin to death...

ts makes so much sense in my mind.

but he was there at the end of the book.

I KNOW. but did you see the reaction Andarna had towards him? did you see the question Violet thought? "why would my brother burn me?".

i fear that the riders quadrant may cease to exist at the end of the series.

something tells me that to defeat the venin or restore balance (it's early af and i cant quote verbatim what was said), magic has to disappear.

and unless you can somehow bond a dragon without getting a signet, cool. but then what would be the point of bonding a dragon or using the dragons in the first place.

i feel as though everyone who does have a signet will either forfeit it or give their life up for the better of the continent.

forfeiting your signet would kinda mean cutting contact with your dragon which, if you were deeply bonded, would kill you, your dragon, or both.

i only came to this conclusion simply bc the way all of the notes at the top of the pages are worded and the way the books are 'transcribed by jesinia' makes me think everyone dies and magic is lost to the world.

remember, when violet met the irids, they seemed to not like the fact people were using dragons and i feel like that might play a huge role in the entire series.

also, there are probably some bonded pairs who have ill intent. like you cant sit there and tell me every dragon only bonds worthy cadets. theres always bad apples.

also idk how valid this theory would be but imagine if there were ill intent bonded pairs who were working alongside venin. wouldn't you think if this happened then you'd have one side of the bonded pairs using their signets for good and the other half using them for bad reasons.

that'd be the perfect reason to cease the use of dragons for signets after putting an end to the venin.
