you're not sure if they know you're there or not. you're not sure if it matters. you watch them sway to the music, watch as they twirl around and smile for no one but themselves. they're free and laughing. they're alive and vibrant. they're everything you might never be except when you're with them. so full of life it makes something in your chest tighten. there are frown lines at the corners of your mouth but your lips are smiling right now. rare. and often, only for them. they have light in their hearts and some days you fear the darkness in you might swallow it whole. but they'd never let you walk away. so make sure the darkness inside you keeps all the other monsters away from their tender heart.

"hey your account is sus bc you didnt use it in years so get back on the site to fix it". site refuses to work. make a new account. the registration key is already used in the old one. i retry to enter in the old one like 7 times. i finally manage somehow, i genuinely dont know what i did wrong before but whatever im in and everything works. i reopen steam. steam is now connected to the new account and refuses to switch to the old one. ]

She heard of Eidolons changing shape and form depending on how humanity think of them, just like how Shiva grew up with the times, but she didn't expect to see the effects of said change anytime soon. Rhe possibility that this Bahamut wasn't hers, so to speak, didn't even cross her mind, even when a hand instinctively went for her pocket - for the garnet resting inside it, where she could feel the dragon rest.

"How… is this possible?", the queen mused, frowning ever so slightly "There's no summoner left other than just two of us--"

--and, surely, she would've been the first to know if Eiko summoned the king of dragons.

"…how…?"

The name was not familiar to them. Neither was hearing of a Queen. It was becoming clear that whatever the fate of the cosmos had done, it deemed they were needed here. That would explain their unfamiliarity.

Upon hearing that it was in the presence of royalty, Bahamut bows their head briefly. "It is an honor to meet you proper, your majesty. I thank you for being the one to find me so kindly."

Rarer still that Bahamut was not of this continent. The energy of the planet hummed between their claws, like someone giggling at another for finding the plot twist in an old story.

"Where I am from, the people call me Bahamut. I believe that 'where' is a great distance away... but I am aware there are others who share in that name."

They were certain that they were not the only one, if their assumption of being in unfamiliar lands was very correct.

[ okay well im at 17+ hours in ffviii so obligatory commentary of the past few hours ]

small things again: i love how selphie is written, oddly enough i really enjoy rinoa's run cycle of all things???? and overall my stance on any character remain the same, if not for the fact that selphie is 100% my favorite character.
