friends was the wrong term. way too wrong to describe the two’s relationship. the dimples on her cheeks were in full bloom , slender finger pushing back a rebellious curl from her face. “ definitely not. come on , ulysse. i’m sure you’re smarter than to assume such nonsense. ” the heretic stepped closer to her progeny , stopping short as she leaned against the tree in front of the one he had hoped down from. “ we have too much fun to be labeled as FRIENDS. ”

isabella didn’t know much about him. she knew things he hadn’t told her and she knew one or two things that he had, but he kept bonding separate from most friendships, most relationships like this. he kept it separate from her because she had changed his life, ruined it without his permission. she was the reason he felt more like a monster than he ever had. as a wolf, he could be harmless with practice. as a vampire, he’d always take something’s life force. “ well, since you’re stalking me, i figured. “

Talia’s eyes never left him. Her expression showed no sign of emotion and, for those that didn’t know her, that’s how she felt inside. Her dark eyes seemingly fighting away every chance they’d get to show something other than nothing. Talia tried to keep herself blocked away and sometimes she managed to do it and others, she couldn’t get a grip on her own thoughts and heart. The moment you begin trusting someone, the moment you begin showing them who you are and what you feel, that’s the moment that you are truly made vulnerable and capable of being smashed to pieces. And Talia trusted Ulysses, with her life.
A lump formed on her throat when he finally spoke again and Talia swallowed it, shaking her head. “I get it if you didn’t want to see me, if you needed time but you could’ve said something.” All he needed to do was say that he was still alive, still fine and feeding like she should. It wasn’t like he owed her anything; she had tempted him, she had almost forcibly shoved her blood down his throat – then again, she saw nothing wrong with it. If it had been someone else, then she wouldn’t have cared about the aftermath, how they were dealing and if they were upset. But it was Ulysses, not someone else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
when water boils, it takes a while for it to stop and even when it does, it’s too hot to touch for far too long. when blood boils, it thickens and water splattering causes far less of a mess. he is boiling and cold; he is unbelieving. “ that’s what you think ? “ he asked her, his face tired, despite the freedom. and, with a different inflection, like a realization. “ that’s what you think. how is that what you think ? if i didn’t want to see you... of course i want to see you. i always want to see you. “
why couldn’t she just be in bed with him ? why wouldn’t he just feel her head on his chest, fingers intertwined and eyes closed ? couldn’t they skip all this, couldn’t she just love him back ? he felt as if the boiling in him was sinking and he was falling to the bottom of everything. down there, it was nice. it was dark, quiet, solitary. his head dipped as he found a seat on the couch. “ but i can’t always handle that. it’s hard to be near you. “ uncomfortably, he was getting closer and closer to the truth.

originaltalia:
Talia watched as the girl walked away, furrowing her eyebrows and wondering why she had been so taken back by the girl’s presence. Ulysses was his own person and he could do whatever he wanted; still, it seemed like she didn’t want that to be women. Quickly, she shook those thoughts out of her head and walked in, closing the door behind her after he told her that she could come in. A sharp sigh escaped her. The brunette wasn’t known to dance around the subject, avoiding the eggshells and just pretending. Sometimes, she’d find herself playing the role of a life time but only when certain emotions were involved. All she wanted to do was ask who the girl had been and what she had been doing there; however, by the tension she had felt just before she walked in, Talia could guess.
“Are we good?” The brunette asked, standing tall even though she was merely 5′4′’ tall. “You said you’d say something, come by and you didn’t.” Talia said, walking towards Ulysses, who now had his back turned towards her. Maybe she shouldn’t be there, maybe she should’ve let him come to her instead. “If you want me to go, I’ll go.” Although she really hoped he wouldn’t. Talia had missed him so much. She wanted to go back to what they used to be, though she wasn’t keeping her hopes up – he had his own thing to deal with and she couldn’t help him like she could before. Not anymore.
However, she didn’t stop there. “I just wanted to see if you were alright and taking care of yourself. The latter’s obviously been done.” Those words had escaped her without her being given the chance to think about them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
her tone blamed him for something immediately. he couldn’t tell what, but the first words she spoke when she walked through the door were accusatory. he deserved those ones. he told her he’d be back the next day and hadn’t seen her for three. it was fine to him, he just needed time. when she wasn’t around, he was far more crass. he had an anger in him, something unapologetic, but it faded in the moment he saw her face, every time. he couldn’t be anything but gentle to her, like he was afraid he’d break her if he did one wrong thing. he knew he could; he knew she could break him, too. hadn’t she, already ? he didn’t want her to go, but he couldn’t stand to be around her.
but his back turned when he heard her last words. it was wishful thinking of him that it was jealousy, when it was obviously anger. he had made time for three other girls, but not even to tell her he was fine. he clung to the way she looked like she felt and it rose up the anger that was always stifled. his brow furrowed and he nearly grimaced at her. he hated this already, hated how they were looking at each other, but he couldn’t not say it. “ you know, i had a reason for not coming back. “

it had been a long day, one that deserved solitude and quietness. the forest was perfect for it. that, and the forest had food. ulysses could lay in the leaves as long as he wanted, climb any tree, and watch from afar. he didn’t have to interact. today, he was a tree climber. and today, he did have to interact. he heard her call out his name, but he’d seen her before he heard her and so he was ready. he hopped down from the tree, far too high for any human to survive without harm. “ oh, what, are we friends ? “ he called back, a small distance still between them.
@ulyssvs
black heels walked on fallen leaves , raven curls bouncing on her shoulders as she wiped away the crimson droplets from her lips. a few meters yards way laid a fawn , drained of blood. tomorrow would be a new day , hunters would find the animal && either take it to eat , or leave it for other animals. it no longer concerned her as her eyes spotted a familiar figure                    && a giggle erupted from her throat. “ ULYSSE ! ” she called out , knowing full well he could hear her. her own little hybrid.

the three days since he had seen her had been long. he had been feeding, taking care of himself for the most part. he had been quiet and soft, but cowardly, too. he had been remembering how lava felt. each time he fed, it lacked sweetness; it lacked salt. none of the animals had her blood, and he dealt with that the day he left by going through four animals, two of which were large, only to find his belly full, his teeth stained red, and his head in shambles. he sobbed over the corpses of animals, over the monster that he was, and then went home. taryn let him wipe his mouth, then joined him in the shower.
and since then, he had been finding girls to occupy his time. it had been three girls, including taryn, that he didn’t have to be soft to. he didn’t have to be quiet, gentle, or kiss them. he could get it out of his system before he had to see her again. the problem was that it wasn’t working. every time he fed, every time he fucked, he always wished it was talia. it wasn’t fair to her and it wasn’t fair to him.
but she showed up too soon. he needed this space before he did something he’d regret. the only buffer between them, the girl he had ushered out of the apartment, slipped through the space between the door and talia. she looked relieved ( they’d had a short talk about how he probably wasn’t going to call her ). he cleared his throat, breathed, “ no, come in, “ then took a few steps back, turning on the last one to give himself a moment. he ran a hand down his face. already, he wanted to leave. already, he wanted to apologize.
Just like he had found her, she would find him. It sounded cliché, Talia using the mainstream romance as a way to judge her own thoughts but it was the truth, wasn’t it? Ulysses had managed to find her by following a scent that he had last come in contact with five years before. And although not that long had gone by between then and their last encounter, she was going to follow the same bread crumbs. Concentrating enough, Talia was able to find her way to an apartment from which Ulysses’ scent was emanating. Although he had left in quite a relaxed manner, Talia wasn’t fully surprised when he didn’t come to her again just like he said he would. A few days passed and understanding turned to worry, afraid that something had happened to him.
Finding her way to where her senses guided her, Talia looked at the front door of the apartment building and forced her way inside, breaking the lock – in her mind, there was nothing wrong with that. She wasn’t invading anyone’s privacy since the door was technically not one person’s entrance. Following where the scent led her (mixed with someone else’s scent, very familiar to the woman), Talia found herself standing outside a wooden door and just as she was about to knock on the door, it opened and a girl was standing on the other side of it.
Eyes widened for a bit, the moment after she made sure her expression was her regular one –  a deadpan one. After she was done eyeing the girl, Talia turned her attention whoever stood behind the girl, further inside the apartment, meeting Ulysses’ eyes, who was standing not that far away from the door. “I can come back later if this is a bad time.”

Her eyes never left his figure. Ulysses was her friend, someone important to her, someone she would fight whoever for. Talia didn’t even know how long ago he had undergone such a powerful change but they’d have time to talk about all of that later. Now, her attention was fully on him, feeling the blood leave her veins and Ulysses’ skin gaining its usual color. Closing her eyes, she concentrated her hearing on his heartbeat – before it had been dry, almost as if it had been two pieces of sandpaper rubbing together. It was obvious, the change his blood flow had gone through with just a little big of blood. There wasn’t a pinch of regret inside of her head or her heart; how could there be? For all the lives she had taken, at least she was helping Ulysses – it wasn’t a way to get even with the universe but it was all that mattered at that moment.
As he let go of her wrist, she opened her eyes again, looking down at him as he rested his forehead against her stomach. All she wanted to do at that moment was embrace him, kiss the top of his head in the most gentle way she knew how. She didn’t, however, choosing to give him time instead. To her, it had been nothing, merely a way to help him – but, just like she didn’t know what he was going through when it came to being a hybrid, she also didn’t know what it meant for him to take blood from someone so close to him. Talia would like to think that it wasn’t that big of a deal; it was a friend, helping another but she knew better than to assume, especially when she cared so much about the other.
The moment he looked up at her and her eyes met his, Talia could swear she felt her heart break – the look in his eyes had been the same look she had when she looked at herself, after the first time she underwent a transformation. She saw herself as a monster and it took a while to accept herself as she was. Pressing her lips together, she then took a piece of cloth from near the sink and wiped the blood from her wrist, which had no wounds whatsoever. Then, she knelt down in front of him, just being there for a few silent moments before she took his hand into hers, planting a soft kiss on his knuckles and letting her lips linger, her thumb stroking his hand, whispering an apology (after all, she had basically tempted him) before she lifted his head with her free hand to make him look at her. All she wanted to let him know was that everything was alright. “It’s fine, Ulysses. It’s fine.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
there was lava in his throat that threatened to burn him from the inside out if he swallowed it, but to spew out and burn through the linoleum floor and destroy yet another thing if he didn’t. her blood went down hot through the cracks of his throat as he swallowed thickly. yet still, all he wanted to do was put his lips to hers. maybe he could share, or better yet, maybe she could.
there was a raw hunger still inside of him that made his eyes move from the floor to her neck. it was enough to keep him running, not to quench his thirst. but he refused to take more from her, and he could refuse it now. he wasn’t sure he would, if she offered again, but only now because he craved the closeness. he’d had such a taste, being buried into her shirt, of what it was like to be even a fraction closer to what he wanted. he wished that her clothes had been gone then, he had been less pathetic, that he placed more kisses, but that wasn’t reality.
he cherished the feeling of her lips on his knuckles, however and pulled her into him, his chin resting at the top of her head. it was a thank you, a silent whisper that he appreciated what she did, how much he cared ----- but that he had to leave. he pulled back, pressed a slow kiss to her forehead ( it wasn’t new, really, but it had been years ), then stood. “ i’ll be back tomorrow, “ he said quietly before he twitched his lips up at one corner, trying to give her a smile, but failing to counteract the heaviness in his eyes. and then he was gone, the door closed behind him and the forest welcoming another monster for the night.

As Talia met Ulysses’ eyes for a moment, almost as if he was begging her, the girl felt a pinch on her chest. t felt like betrayal. Although she did need a few bottles of wine (just to tell herself that she was capable of getting numb so easily), that hadn’t been her priority as she walked towards the kitchen. It never had been. From the moment she had heard Ulysses’ words, Talia knew what she had to do. She had tricked him and there was no way she could know the consequences of her actions. They had a lot of years of built friendship and understanding, but this situation wasn’t one Talia had ever thought about – not in a million years. If asked, she wouldn’t know what to say; why had she put such a good relationship at risk, just because she hated seeing him like that? It wasn’t logical, the pros didn’t outweigh the cons – and then she realized, her head hadn’t been the one to make the decision.
He was certainly faster now. The only warning she had gotten of his presence, so close to her, had been the light breeze his fast movement had brought to where she stood and soon after, she felt the warmth of his mouth on her wrist and was overcome with something she had never felt before – she labelled it as simply the new feeling of being used as something to feed from, but it wasn’t certain if it was just that. Talia kept her eyes on Ulysses’ and, as he fell, she kept her stance, letting him guide her wrist wherever he needed it to go.
Without thinking, her free hand found its way to the back of his head, resting atop of it and absentmindedly running her fingers through his hair, almost as if she needed something to distract her from the fact that she had just allowed someone to feed from her, allowed herself to become prey, in a sense. She trusted Ulysses, however, wholeheartedly. And she also knew that he was aware that, should he not stop when she asked him to, then she was strong enough to fight him off. She never took her eyes off of him, though – it was kind of fascinating, in a sense, to her and Talia could swear it was one of the most intimate moments she had shared with Ulysses.
Tumblr media
ulysses was not being careful, soft, modest, but it felt like heaven not to be. with her fingers in his hair, he felt at ease. he felt as if what he was doing could be okay. he needed it, and she could stop him. but he knew it was only the euphoria. when he pulled himself from her, he would be awash with the greatest hatred he could muster. this was his best friend, the love of his life --- how could he treat her like this ? how could he have so little self control that talia became this ? feeding was not against his nature in any way, but he felt as if it was the most heartless thing he had ever done. it had not yet hardened him. blood felt as necessary as air.
but he needed to be done. he wasn’t going to take more than was enough for him to stand straight, to speak full sentences, for his veins to feel fluid again. he pulled his mouth from her wrist, his hand still gripping it. he stared too long and when the blood resurfaced from the wound, he took it for himself, his tongue and lips collected it and he hovered there, eyes closed. he could smell when new blood trickled out, the wound much less bloody than before, but his nose pressed against the top of her wrist. he dropped her arm, however, and ripped away from it, his face pressing into her stomach. he needed it away from him, needed to find a way to block out the scent. it seemed foolish, but to bury himself in her scent worked okay. the blood was still everywhere around him, buzzing in his ears with want, but a calmness made it easy to stay there.
after moments and far too much thinking, however, he sat back on his heels, removing himself from all of her. he stared downward, blood filling the cracks between his lips. he glanced upward at her eyes, but he couldn’t bear to look at them and his head fell, eyes closing to prevent them from welling up. he had never earned the title of monster more.

At that point, Mikael pitied the other man’s attempt to be funny. He crossed his arms over his chest, staring at him with a straight face. “Sorry, Jason Vorhees, although we have the best saws in this town, we don’t have any bags,” he said, a little distaste left in his mouth. Mikael looked at the shelf next to him for a while before turning his attention back to the man.

It’s okay. It wasn’t. Not in the slightest. What if something happened and he had been too weak to defend himself? Perhaps she would never come to hear about his death since she thought he was gone before, but she would be damned if she had found herself guilty of both of his deaths. Her grip and want for emotions was already fickle; it was only a matter of time and having the right trigger, she found. Feelings confused her, the only ones she found herself at ease with were anger, pain and perhaps even a little bit of hate. Talia shook her head, though that had no effect on her and, when he took her fingers in his, she returned the action, gripping at them and looking down – she knew what she had to do. Talia knew it would be selfish but she had spent almost a thousand years dealing with worse things that she had done – so why not? “It’s not.” She simply replied.
Only a moment after, without giving him the opportunity to retort, Talia squeezed his hand and then let go. “I’m going to get something to drink. You need anything?” A question that flew out of her mouth with such ease, showing just how easy it was for her to hide, pretend and lie – a second nature to her, really, after so many centuries. Talia should’ve thought twice about her actions, perhaps giving it more thought other than the ‘he needs it’, but that had been enough for her. Ulysses might grow angry at her after it but at least she knew he’d be better, even if only slightly. Keeping her back fully turned, she hoped he was distracted enough to not notice that she wasn’t going anywhere near the wine rack – instead, she opened a drawer and took a knife, turning around to face him. “I’m sorry.” Was all that she sad before she slashed her wrist open, her arm half up, looking at him with a look on her face that let him know just how certain she was of everything, never taking her gaze from his dark eyes. Ulysses needed to feed and she needed to help him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it was like her to walk away when it wasn’t okay. she didn’t run, but he knew her to get a bottle of wine in hard times. he knew just exactly which wine was her favorite, too ---- or at least, it was ten years ago. he shook his head, watching the back of her frame as she disappeared into the kitchen, but his head fell to look down at his fidgeting fingers, a slight smile resting tiredly there. the first time he realized he was in love with her was when she had a glass of wine to her lips. she smiled, sipped, he smiled back, and he felt a warmth in his chest he never had.
in the two seconds before the scent hit him, he thought many things. thought worked that way. it didn’t need words and it ran a million miles faster than words did. mostly, he could not move. he wanted to take steps away from her, walk back and leave. he could feed and come back later, explain to her that he couldn’t do it: he only feeds on animals. but if he moved, it would be to her. he stared her in the eye, faint red rings around his won and his skin a shade too pale. he asked her silently, begged her with his eyes to let it go, to let him go. however, when his eyes fell and glanced at the blood oozing from her wrist, he was there faster than she could snap. he latched on in an undignified way, his tongue sliding up her arm to take what she had incessantly offered him.
and then his knees gave out from under him and he fell, crashing down like thunder. her arm came with him, however, and there was a haze around him as he felt the warm liquid travel down his throat, as he felt relief in his veins and a headache that began to clear. he was not mad at her, but infatuated with her skin and blood, and disgusted with himself.

originaltalia:
Every word he spoke sent a chill down her spine. Talia didn’t want to believe it, that he had been so preoccupied with finding her that he hadn’t put himself first. It hurt – even if she tried to keep her emotions in check, she apparently wasn’t the best when it came to facing someone she loved and thought to be dead. It was a whole new thing, something that she never thought would happen – after all, how often do you get to see someone again when you thought you had lost them? Granted, there was no evidence Ulysses had died with that hunter attack but there was no evidence he was alive either; and Talia knew better than to keep her hopes up when it came to not losing someone.
And then, he mentioned Taryn. Could it be the same one? “Wait –” The brunette began, eyebrows furrowed in confusion; she didn’t want to make herself up to be far more important than she actually was. “You didn’t feed because you were looking for me?” Then, as if she already had confirmation, guilt washed over her – and it didn’t even wait to hear what Ulysses had to say. “Why would you do that?” So many questions. “Taryn? Taryn Archer? You know her?” At least, if he did, then they could both help each other since Talia wasn’t exactly acquainted with what they were going through. What she couldn’t explain, as why she felt her chest tighten just a bit once that question left her lips.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
her questions came so fast that he felt dizziness slip through the cracks in his skull and lay a soft, filmy sheet over his brain. it oozed into the cracks and whispered to torso to move. with one step back, he caught himself and tried to let it seem like nothing, just an adjustment. taryn archer was her own kind, a kind he was deeply intertwined with. she knew the one thing that talia didn’t, even if she knew little else, compared. a boy at seventeen gone missing until twenty-nine. taryn had found him in the last city before this one and her latest mission was convincing him to stay with her --- with words and with actions. he’d already spent some nights there, anyway, she said, laying back with sweat dripping on her forehead. ( he leaned over and covered her mouth and told her to shut up so he could enjoy the moment. )
for now, he stood, but not as still as the first moments he’d found her. he found her and it was the most important thing, but now that the scent had been discovered, it wasn’t the most important thing. to him, it was, but to every other part of his body, it wasn’t. he found her, he accomplished the mission, and now he had to stop the radiating pain in his veins, in his throat. until he became so tired, he hadn’t felt the pain that tugged every snag out of his veins like pulling hairs one by one. “ it’s okay, “ he told her, only able to offer that and a soft movement to take her fingers in his. yes, taryn archer. yes, she came before his wellbeing, but none of that was important.

originaltalia:
Talia wasn’t one to avoid anyone. Honesty – borderline bluntness – ran through her veins and the brunette just couldn’t help but face things head on, whatever they were. Unless, of course, those things were emotions. Before, she was comfortable with her own heart and her own head. Alas, the loss of the man she loved, the death of her daughter and everyone else she lost in the thousand years she’d been alive had hardened her heart, with barbed wire and an impenetrable skin. Her own sanity seemed to be sleeping away, day by day – and it was only because of her immortality. However, there were still people that could make her thing otherwise – starting with her family and a few selected others. Ulysses was surely part of the latter group.
Upon feeling his hand on her chin, lifting up her head (which felt a lot heavier than usual), the brunette’s eyes met his dark ones, even if she couldn’t bare looking at him – not because she didn’t want to, it was the opposite, really, but because she couldn’t stand seeing him like he was more dead than alive. Which, in a way, he was. Her eyes narrowed at his words; was that possible? Survive on animal blood alone? Shaking those thoughts away, all she wanted to do was take his hand or rest her hands on his chest – be as close to him as she could. That wasn’t what he needed, though. It was exactly the opposite. Keeping her gaze on Ulysses’, Talia let out a sigh. “I’m guessing there are no more squirrels for you to chase, then.” Her eyes almost begged him to just do whatever it did to get better, a hopefulness in them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
he felt nothing in return. and he knew her well enough to know what the true meaning of it was, but a small part of him, the part that had flexed and gained muscle while she was gone, was sure that each step from him that she took was a reminder that he had become this monster. she knew how it felt to kill, and he hadn’t always. there was once and while it was a catalyst to something bigger, it was something that ulysses thought was right once upon a time. before he knew how little value life held, thinking that way, it snapped back and bit him.
now she wanted to know why he had done this to himself, made his skin void of any color and his eyes lined red, a stature that seemed impossible to replicate or to stomach. his gut twisted like the curls on his head, like how his fingers could twist in her hair if he didn’t let her chin go that in that exact moment ( and he felt every last ridge of his fingertips brush her skin as he did ). she would think it were her fault, if he told her the truth. she’d find a way to blame herself. but he owed her the truth, at least. “ i was just preoccupied. didn’t think about it. i caught your scent on taryn. “

originaltalia:
Talia kept her gaze on him, alternating between his dark eyes and trying to find something that could convince him to let her help him. She couldn’t, though, could she? Talia might be ancient but she had no idea how to deal with a blood craving. She might be ancient but, despite all the centuries she had lived and despite everything they had been through together, Talia, for the first time, didn’t know how he felt. Before, they had the curse of lycanthropy to connect them; she had something to teach him and help him with. Now? She felt hopeless and helpless, not knowing how to stop his suffering. And that killed her.
Pressing her lips together, blinking time and time again and looking away, the werewolf let her hands fall to her side, any sort of contact between Ulysses and her coming to an end. Talia was being selfish, just like she always was – she wanted to help him but clearly, he didn’t want the help she was offering and, not knowing how else to do it, the brunette just did as he asked. Talia stepped back, avoiding looking directly at him, her gaze low. “I’m sorry. I don’t know what you’re going through and I shouldn’t have offered.” Talia said, as she stepped back more and more, stopping only when she was at least a few steps away. Her attitude had changed in a flash, it was as if she had sucked all the emotions from around them and locked them inside of her again, bulldozing over them like she always did.

the way she recoiled away from him made him feel like the monster that he was. he wasn’t real these days, just a predator. it seemed so normal in life now, the lore of vampires and how they simply fed to stay alive, but the reality was something no one cared to think of. all of the movies and television seemed to skip the part where sanity was lost and drifting in and out of the air between every selfish word. she was being selfish, making her sadness more important, but it was only his fault for thinking it was. he was here and she should be happy, but how could he expect her to be when he looked as if he wouldn’t make it to the next full moon ?
he stood, following her almost immediately after a second of shame, head held down. again, his comfort went to her lips. he wanted to kiss it all right and explain that it had nothing to do with her, but just that it had everything to do with her. his hand came up to meet her chin, softly tilting her head up with a curled hand. he could hardly stand here after his knees has spent so long bent. “ talia, “ he breathed softly, his voice warmer than it had been most of the night. his thumb brushed the tip of her chin. “ i only drink from animals. that’s all. “ he lied, but he doubted she’d be able to tell there was more to it. after all, this one particular thing, he’d been successfully lying about since he was nineteen.

Ulysses was the second friend of hers that had suffered a fate she wouldn’t wish on anyone; immortality seemed easy in theory, but the longer you were alive, the more you’d lose yourself. The Original was lucky that she didn’t have to feet on blood to survive, but even then, she couldn’t remember the girl she used to be. That wasn’t about her, however – it was about the future Ulysses was never going to have; the future that she wished upon him. A happy life, a happy family, kids for him to nurture. She didn’t even know how hybrids worked, not truly – all she knew was that she had to help.
All she wanted to do was ask who had done it to him. She would kill them, whoever they were – rip their arms off, make them regret ever taking away a life from someone she cared about. She had never minded the dried blood on her hands, not after a while – and if she added yet another name to that list, Talia didn’t care. The brunette furrowed her eyebrows as he firmly denied her offer. “Why not? You couldn’t kill me. And if you took too much, I’d be strong enough to push you off.” The werewolf spoke, shaking her head, refusing to back down from helping someone she loved so much. “You need it, Ulysses, you know you do. And I can’t bare to see you like this.” She admitted.

her reasoning was founded --- helpful, even. because the truth was even with his newfound strength, the age she was and the control she had learned made her nearly impervious to damage. without him knowing, his eyes fell to her neck. he was in a daze at the scent of her, the soft thumps of her heartbeat, despite how terrified she looked.
it just seemed so out of reach to sink his teeth into her flesh. it had been months since he fed on a human, or anyone that resembled one, and how could he let it be her that broke that ? she wasn’t a random girl that he could pull aside, take the blood from, then compel to forget it ever happened. she wasn’t someone he didn’t know with soft skin and nothing else to draw him in. she was talia. she was his person. he cared for many, an interior far different from the quiet exterior. she had always gotten to see the side of him that so many were cut off from. “ please, “ he whimpered, not specifying if he meant that he’d take her wrist or if he meant that he needed her to stop asking. it was the latter, of course, for only fear that it would become the former.

All Talia wanted to do was make Ulysses feel better. Maybe she was being too hopeful, to think that things could go back to how they were five years ago. Things change, people change – Talia knew that well enough. However, she knew that what they had couldn’t be lost that easily. There was a special bond between her and Ulysses that she hoped would pass the test of time; or at least, until he grew old and grey, with kids of his own to teach and love. And although she would physically remain the same, the Original knew that she would not be the same person. Not with Ulysses’ influence on her life.
His first words sent a jolt of confusion down her spine. Why couldn’t she be so close? For a second, her mind wondered – however, just as soon as she got her answer, her expression changed – shock, anger, heartbreak… everything that one could feel, she felt in that very moment. It had to be some sort of nightmare, right? He couldn’t be serious, he had to be lying. He had to. The lack of a sign to tell her that he was just joking around, giving her a taste of a sense of humor she hadn’t encountered in five years, was like she had been throw into a pool of wolfsbane and parts of her were just burning away.

“…Fed? I –” Denial was playing a big part in her words. Talia knew what it meant, she wasn’t stupid. her brain, however, acted as if it didn’t want to recognize those words. Finally, the werewolf summoned the strength to speak. “You’re a hybrid.” Talia breathed, out, her gaze falling on everything but Ulysses’ face, lips parted in disbelief – there wasn’t an ounce of judgement or hatred in her being; it was impossible for her to feel such things towards Ulysses. Her hands fell from his face to his chest, unable to step back from someone that meant to much to her and obviously needed her help. Her emotions didn’t matter, though, not in that moment. “You need to feed.” Talia spoke, looking up at him again – although she didn’t say much, she knew – hoped – that he would understand her.

he processing was breaking him. he could hear the confusion in her voice change directly to worry. she hadn’t skipped anywhere near resentful or ashamed. it didn’t matter what he was to her. she could be anything, too, and as long as she was still her, he would love her. now, maybe he’d love her forever. forever had never been a true option to those immortal. they always said the word, forever, not really know what forever meant. emotions were trivial until forever was attached to them and he could still feel the core of the word in every one of his bones.
he nodded, first, then immediately denied what she meant. “ no, “ he said firmly, with the gut of a man who had far more strength than he. there were a list of reasons not to feed on her, but the one that was a the forefront of his mind ? how intimate it would be. if she offered her neck or her wrist, his lips would touch her skin in a way he had only dreamed they could and all that would come next would be destruction. he could control himself, he was sure ( even if not risking it was on the list ), but only by her blood. “ talia. no. i’m not going to feed on you. “
