remember instead of reading the online discourse post you can just scream inside your head and it simulates the experience perfectly but probably with fewer lasting psychological effects

proud to say that I have never once in my life figured out the whodunit in any crime story I've read or watched. I just let the facts and clues wash over me, absorbing absolutely none of it. I am the audience they think of when they throw in red herrings, in case you've ever wondered "who would fall for this obvious false lead". it's me. I am the idiot viewer/reader. not once has an obviously framed clue revealed anything to me. my head is completely empty when I consume these stories.

love ao3 but I would really adore a relationship tag for enemies. sometimes I just want to read things centering around two people's mortal and undying hatred for each other

i think elves should be able to die from intense emotions as a way to compensate for their immortality
#so you want elves to be sims?#also if this was true inflictors would just be murderers. and i imagien the series would be much shorter#in any case fair enough

the premise of abscourse is flawed, because since elves are so superior their abs would obviously have fused together into a single super muscle like so:

as such, although elves have ab (singular), it would not be visible to anyone - including and especially Keefe Sencen's

Keefe has abs i hope this visual above helps assuming elf muscular anatomy is similar to human muscular anatomy everyone has abs

there's something sooo special to me about writing that gives narrative weight and time to characters who are just brief flashes across the page, especially the ones that die. like how The Spear Cuts Through Water breaks its main narrative to give the people Keema and Jun cross paths with a voice, from the vendor to the messenger they kill to everyone else, just brief flashes of other lives that matter just as much. And how the Aeneid takes the time with the deaths in the final battles to say that this man was a hero, that this one loved his aged father, and so on. it's just the way that these books acknowledge that every single person has their own history and present, compared to so many books today that treat lives so carelessly
#the spear cuts through water#the aeneid#ari shouts into the void#this is probably one of the nichest posts i have ever made bc the intersection of people who have read these two books....#probably not large im afraid#anyway more people should read the spear cuts through water and then they should talk to me about it

just finished aftg and was anyone going to tell me that it's a comedy
#ari shouts into the void#aftg#i'm sorry but every progressive event is just so off the walls funny#really appreciate that the whole book is just. the opposite of the modern therapy speak plague#no character is out here having politically cotrrect healing conversations!!!!!#they r just yelling at each other for nothing and ignoring their feelings#i will say that my utter lack of interest in sports makes the character motivations soooo incomprehensible#like this is all for stickball game. have you considered stuickball game is not that deep#and thats why andrew minyard is Right actually#also evermore stadium is soooo funny also. could not take the ravens seriously#they live in Cave world. where everything is the color black.#like would i even feel the pain with all the insults id be sending at that interior designer??#anyway. wild book series truly

anyway on this very special day the Latin student in me wants y'all to know that Caesar, in his account of the Gallic Wars, refers to himself nigh exclusively in 3rd person. so yeah he absolutely did have the whole stabbing thing coming
#ari shouts into the void#some notes for the notes: it's impossible to be sure that Caesar wrote the gallic wars#some people DO believe that it was dictated to a scribe or something similar#in which case the 3rd person thing makes more sense#also de bello gallico is so boring. bc of this i imagine historians love it#like caesar will spend ages going 'and these are the boundaries of this tribe#and these are the boundaries of that tribe' etc.#at one point he explains how cavalry works#ides of march#julius caesar
