Had an extremely busy day with classes all day and volunteering in the evening. I managed to get a few characters of my readings done. This one is for the Mill in the Floss. So far I am really enjoying it and highly recommend this book. It is a slightly averagely difficult read but once you get into it, it is super interesting.]
I and taking a bunch of environmental classes both in biology classes and English classes and its super weird having two extremely different perspective on the envrionemental and scientists. For example, in the biology class we are taking about how scientist are not trying to prove anything, we are actually trying to disprove everything in order to make our hypothesis true (essentially disproving everything against our hypothesis before we try to prove our hypothesis). In English all I notice is th end result off all that sciency work, the impact on the culture and how it impact the literary arts in positive and (mostly) negative ways. We spend three classes trying to define the word nature. Anyway. Tons of fun!!!!

Sorry for the bad lighting but by the time I managed to start my virology notes (after I finished the rest of my classes work and filed them away) it had already become 10:30pm (ish). I spent most of my day buried in the libaray before and after work. But I also needed to start there notes if only to give myself some relief for the amount of studying I have to get done tomorrow.

Hey guys! New semester and I’m back. Hopefully semi-regularly! I have an extremely busy semester this time around with 6 courses, volunteering and work. But I’m off to a solid start. I am ahead in my readings and my textbooks notes are done and ready to go (I may have started doing them before the semester even started but my Virology class is said to be an information overload and I am not going to just wiggle through it). I got home from school and gym around 1500 (3pm; I’ve been in Cadets since I was 13 so all I think about is military time) and was exhausted that I decided to nap **cough**sleep**cough **don’t know how to nap**cough** and woke up at 1900 and then promptly spent the night not sleeping and doing calculus notes. I have a midterm on Friday so I’ve just been doing practice questions all night long. As well as watching Criminal Minds. Since math isn’t a very focusing course, I am able to watch a show that doesn’t require full attention and do questions. Definitely can’t do this with any other courses.

It has been a hectic couple weeks but I finally managed to catch a breath today with a nice 4 day break between midterms and assignments. I have fallen a week behind on my calculus due to midterms and assignments so I started my catch up today since I have a midterm on it in less than a week. I went to Micheals (sort of like an arts and crafts store for adults) yesterday and got myself some microns (pens with a super thin tip) and other pens. I love pens. I love stationary. That is all my family gets me as presents. I am super easy to shop for: stationary (pens and notebooks) Tea or Coffee and rings. That’s is all I want. Nothing else. Hahaha.

So after my post yesterday on how I get like 4 hours of sleep and how I function with it, I ended up sleeping until 9am today. Not really because I was tired but because I ate subway and pizza yesterday. Let me explain why. So I’ve been on this diet where I completely avoid greasy food and processed food (Subway has wayyyy too much salt). Anyway. Since I am on that type of diet for the last 9 months my body has been rejecting greasy foods and well anything unhealthy to the point where when I eat that I feel sick to my stomach and want to throw up (I hate throwing up and hold it in as long as possible). I was at my relative’s house and they needed to get groceries and couldn’t take their two year old because he was sick and tired. So they asked me to babysit for two hours. Of course I agreed since going to their house is my decompression for the week. They brought pizza for dinner (obviously for me as well as a thank you) and well my anxiety kicked in and I couldn’t say no and ate it, multiple slices since like normal grandmothers they never think you have eaten enough. So I ate food that I knew my body would reject it so I got home, made some tea, worked until 11pm and then passed out. Woke up at 9am p, had to go to the store to grab some supplies I’ve been running low on and made it to university at around noon (very late in my point of view) and well I’ve been feeling sick all day. So yeah.
Long rant later, these are my notes that I am studying for my midterms for Molecular Genetics (quite possibly my favourite course yet). Ignore my empty smoothie cup.

How many hours of sleep do you get each night? Your schedule looks like you go to bed late and wake up really early. I’m trying to get my body to wake up early and function on less sleep.
So this is going to be a long response but here I go:
I typically get around 4 hours of sleep. Some nights it can go down to 3 or up to 5 but usually 3. I recommend never doing less than 3 (tried it and I suffered all day since that was too little sleep). A couple things are going to happen when you do this. First you will start to crave food all day all the time. You just have to force your body to listen to you and not give into those craving. I usually keep a bottle of water (or any low calorie/ low sugar liquid) and sip it when I get hungry. This way your hydrated and you don’t give into your cravings and gain weight. Next you will think about sleeping all the time. Like a nap or something. I ignore this since when I nap, I nap for 2 hours (I don’t know how to nap effectively) so I don’t nap. But if you are able to nap for 90 minutes and get right up (90 minutes is best for optimal performance) then go for it. Start with cutting down an hour do increase it biweekly. It takes a month for your body to get adjusted to a schedule so make sure your don’t give into your body. It is going to fight you all along the way until it realizes that you are boss.
I am definitely a night owl. I work best at night. But my schedule makes it so that my classes start at 8 and I have to wake up early. So I wake up at 4, so that I am not frantically running out the door. How do I force myself out of bed (which is really difficult for me)? My alarm goes off and I jerk myself up within the first 3-5 seconds. You would count to 5 and on 3 you should be sitting up. Putting the the alarm on the other side of the room doesn’t work for me because I end up ignoring it and sleeping through it. So I’m sitting in bed and I grab my phone and I put on a upbeat song and go through my emails to see if anything important happened (typically emails don’t start pouring in until 8am but I’d rather be safe than sorry. So yeah. I also go on tumblr and Pinterest. I am not really frequent on social media so I don’t really check those. Once I do that, I get up stretch at go to the kitchen to boil water for either tea or coffee. While the water boils I open the front door and take a deep breath of fresh air to further wake myself up and then go brush my teeth. By then I’m awake and think about what I need to get done in a day. So pretty much I do anything and everything to make sure I get out of bed. Within the first half hour I’m wide awake and I can get my lunch ready for the day and go back to my desk and plan out my day as well as doing some work depending on what I need to get done.
You need to find a system that works for you to get out of the bed in the morning. It took me a monthish to figure out how I effectively get out of bed. If your want more tips and tricks (I know a ton) let me know and I will be more than happy to help.

I thought I would post my (somewhat) daily routine (it changes when I have to go to work or volunteer. This is more like my Monday-Friday schedule; the weekend is similar but like the hours are different since the buses start later in the day on the weekend. Also. Wherever it says work that’s isn’t me going to work it more of me doing my personal project which I consider as Self-Employed work.

My really messy pre-lecture notessssasss!!!!! Took me an awfully long time to get these done. It’s like the third week into the semester and I’ve barely posted but I’m honestly just extremely busy and am trying to get a schedule down. Apart from talking 6 heavy course old classes, volunteering, working, studying for the MCAT and my own side project (which needs to be finished by June) I have literally been forgetting things like calling home, messaging friends, hell, there was even a couple days that I forgot to eat, got home around 10pm absolutely starving and instead of eating, just passed out. I’m working without fuellllllllll. But... I’m having fun sooo I guess it’s should be fine 🙃🙃🙃🙃🙃

Spend most of today creating a question bank for my quiz next week. There are about 58slides of information that I have to memorize for a quiz worth 10% of my overall grade. I typically crate a question bank after every class so that I can study it for quizzes and midterms and finals. Plus I get to review them weekly. Usually I make them all short answer unless other types of questions are more suitable. But yeah. 100 questions this far. And this is only the 2nd week of classes!

Today I spend most of the day reading two short stories from the Canadian Anthology “The Journey Prize” and writing up a 600 word response for each. Tomorrow we will be discussing them. They are pretty good but honestly not the type of stories I read (nor write). But I had to do them since they are an assignment.

Today I decided to study in the new building which opened this semester. I have Math in this new building but haven’t actually studied in the study area before. And I have to say that it is quite a nice place to study. Very spacious and bright. Perfect place to work. Perfect place to do notes such as on Microbial Nutrition which I was doing here today.

These are my preclass notes which I took from the textbook alongside the PowerPoint my prof is going to present. It took me all day since there are 77 slides and 3 chapters in the textbook. But I am finally done and so relieved that I am!!

Happy New Years!!! I know I started posting late but I really had nothing to post although classes did start on the 2nd. Instead of studying and doing other school work I had to run errands and do a lot of housekeeping kind of things once I got back from visiting family. But now I’m back and going strong. I have 6 classes this semester which also includes a very intensive Creative Wroting course which requires a Short story (12-16) pages almost biweekly on top of my Science and Math courses. So a huge and mently destructive courseload. But I am prepared for the worst.
I hope your new year started off great, and even if it didn’t, you keep up or start your goals. I know I had a few resolution that I wished I started right at Jan 01 but sadly I did not have the time nor the motivation. But I’m not giving up and well, better later than never.

Spend the night of Halloween watching horror movies, alone, in the dark with the volume on high. (Watched The Grudge, Insidious Chapter 3, Rings, and Sinister) My roommate got back from work around 11pm, nearly scaring me shitless with her sudden banging(she found out through my Snapchat what I was doing and decided to slam on the door). I managed to stop watching around midnight and then help her with her lab and went to sleep. Woke up around 3:30am today and had to turn on all the lights to make sure nothing (cough Samara cough) was around before making coffee and breakfast and then promptly studying. Spend the rest of the day having to run errands like going to the bank for rent money and buying cheap Halloween candy before heading off to work for the night.
