Nate had no cards in his hand and no face downs but he did have two synchro monsters, Exploder Dragonwing and Underworld Fighter Balmung, and he was now leading 3100LP to 550LP.

"I end my turn. Are you ready to make your big comeback?" He said encouragingly

Nate looked over to Christina and smiled. He was pretty certain of his victory at this point and he wanted her to see it.

Katie would indeed declare attack with Wheel of Prophecy once she felt it was safe enough, dealing 600LP damage to Nate. Now she had quite a strong monster on her field and was beginning to feel confident. “I end my turn.” she answered. Christina was staring at her monster, one of Katie’s strongest cards. It was always interesting to her that her sister’s deck were spellcasters that represented Tarot cards, something she had never seen her sister practice.

Nate left the bus shack after waiting for and hour. He realized that his bus probably had some sort of problems because of the weather and decided to just walk home in the rain. As he began to make his way down the street he could see a familiar figure standing in the doorway of a restaurant. Nate knew that he recognized the person but couldn’t make them out clearly because of the thick shroud of mist.

Nate tried to help her up. Her put her arm over his shoulders and tried to stand up with her. "Let me know if I'm hurting you"

Nate began to sift through his bag looking for the disinfecting cream. The sight of blood didn’t normally bother him but then again it was usually his own wounds and his own injuries he was left to patch. 

Nate couldn’t find the cream. “Do you think that you are good enough to get up? I’m all out of disinfectant.” Nate said, disappointed in himself. It was more or less his fault that Selena was hurt after all.

Nate got so excited when Katie activated her trap that he could barely contain himself. He activated his other face down card to quickly counter the trap. "I use Dimension explosion to send Draco Equist back to my extra deck so that you can't gain his attack points as life points. Then we can both special summon two of our removed from play monsters. Since the only two monsters removed from play right now are my Underworld Fighter Balmung and my Exploder Dragonwing I can now summon both of them at once back into the game."

Nate was very proud of his power play. It was still his attack and Wheele of Prophecy still only had 1350atk. "First exploder dragonwing attacks your monster. Since your attack is lower than its own your Wheel is destroyed and you take its attack points as damage (1350LP). Next my Underworld Fighter Balmung attacks you directly!" (2100atk)

If this second attack connects then Katie will have gone from 4000LP to 550LP in a single turn.

"I think we should get going now before any other crazy stuff like that happens again" Nate said as he placed his sweater over miyuki's shoulders.

He glanced out the window of the castle for a moment "it looks like it's almost morning anyway"

Nate surrounded by Miyuki’s spirits was trapped. He tried holding her in front of himself as a shield but it failed and the darkness began to seep out. “You think your clever? There is no version of this story where you win.” He claimed reaching for his deck but it was already too late. The spirits of Nate’s deck were already able to escape leaving him only with the single useable card that was given to him. Orichalcos Shunoros fell out of Nate’s hand as he fell to the ground.

Now that Nate had cleared all of the conditions he was ready to take Katie out.

“My draw. First I play my face down Dragon’s Mirror. By sending Exploder Dragonwing and Underworld Fighter Balmung from my graveyard out of the game I can Fusion Summon Draco Equiste (3200 atk). Next I use the card I just drew, Shrink, to lower Wheel of Prophecy’s attack down to 1350. Draco Equiste, Destroy Katie’s Wheel of Prophecy.” 

Nate wondered if Katie had what it took to destroy a monster with 3200 attack when her strongest monster was left vulnerable. In the back of his head he really hoped that she could or else this duel would become very one sided.

The hand Nate had raised into the air fell weakly onto Miyuki’s back where he left it to rest. It took him a moment to get himself together before he could do anything. Once he had the strength though, he noticed Miyuki still crying into his chest and gave her a tight squeeze to let her know that he would be okay. 

“You know we really should find you a change of clothes. The leather is a little bit much on you.” 

Nate surrounded by Miyuki’s spirits was trapped. He tried holding her in front of himself as a shield but it failed and the darkness began to seep out. “You think your clever? There is no version of this story where you win.” He claimed reaching for his deck but it was already too late. Nate took another 300 damage bring Nate’s LP down to 3100 and leaving Nate with only his two face downs. Nate didn't seem to troubled by this though. He knew that he could make his comeback next turn and having already seen Katie’s stingiest monster was a plus because Nate’s deck was made to summon powerful monsters and that would mean Katie would have to depend on effects to deal with the upcoming attacks Nate had planned. 

Nate smiled at Katie. “You're really good! Maybe you, me and your sister could have a three way after this” Nate said and then wished he could have unsaid. He meant a duel but realized that it probably wouldn't come across that way. “I mean like, a three person duel, not like… you know the other thing…” He decided to just shut up and keep duelling.

“That’s a fine way of thinking, wanting to be the best that you can be and striving for the strongest spells, but the reason certain spells are kept away from most people is for their safety. There are spells that just weren't meant to be common practice.”

Nate stepped back and saw the seriousness in the young wizards eyes. “I won't be joining you in you endeavours but I won't stop you from trying. I gave you a warning of the dangers that lay ahead for you if you continue but I’m not your master so it isn't my business to prevent you from acting recklessly. If you would hear me out though i do have one more piece of advice for you; Summon multiple smaller demons rather then one powerful demon, that way you can contract them one at a time, with fewer consequences, and have a wider range of powers. I personally draw most of my magic abilities from my multiple familiars and it really helps me avoid the dire consequences of contracting an actual demon.” 

Nate listened to his own words and realized how serious his tone was. This sort of warning was unusual for him since normally he was at the receiving end of the lecture. 

Blood Magic [Open Starter]

Take it from someone like me, who’s been doing low-to-mid level necromancy for a few years now. Once you cross a certain line with it you can’t depend on your magic to behave for you the way it did before.“ 

Lepus could not believe the word reaching his ears. He frowned at first, but little by little his expression became smirking.

“Oh, I fear I don’t like your tone, mister-I-know-what-I’m-doing. Don’t get me wrong. I don’t expect you to understand the reason why a student completely talented is about to perform a high level summoning ritual. Thus, I will explain it to you…” Lepus said as he cleared his throat “Aren’t you mad of just practising the same spells over and over again? I feel like I’m limiting my own powers to some really basic magic. That way, maybe in centuries, I’ll become the great sorcerer I want to become. However, taking that much time to do so is not part of my plans. I wanna do the real thing… like real magic.”

The young wizard moved his hand into the air accompanying his word as he spoke.

“If I can do this. I feel there’s nothing I couldn’t do. So… That’s why I making all this if you may ask. But, as I said, I don’t expect you to comprehend it so… Unless you’re too scared to become my assistant, you’d better go back wherever you came from”

“You aren't heavy” Nate responded.

Nate was happy that Yugo was so willing to join him. He let himself fall backwards onto his bed when she hugged him and wrapped his arms around her as well. He gave a tight squeeze for a moment and could feel Yugo’s heart beat. It made him happy to be this close. He kissed her on the cheek and began to rub her back with one hand, lightly running his fingers up and down her spine and between her shoulder blades.

As Nate came out of the bath room, complimenting her look she blushed and smiled a bit shy. “Thank you, I´m glad you like it.” She said happily and smiled at him, walking towards him and placing a soft kiss on his cheek. “You look so tired. You should go to bed, you deserve your time to rest.” Yugo said, she cared about him and wanted Nate to get enough sleep.

Nate’s breaths were soft but audible if you got close enough. Through his half shut eyes he could see the light around Miyuki and for a second mistook her for an angel here to take him away. He began to tear up when he realized who it was, loosing his usual happy atmosphere about him, and reached up to touch Miyuki.
