#MidlifeCrisis
To all the old rich men out there who think sexism doesn't exist and that being American is all it's hyped up to be:
Do you know what it's like to regularly stay up for 30 something hours straight? Do you know what it's like to wake up every 30 minutes because you're petrified that someone will break into your house and kill you? Do you know what it feels like to not just feel, but to be helpless? To be drugged, unable to stop 2 men who are older and stronger than you force you into position and rape you and later be congratulated for it? Do you know what it's like to be concerned about the cost of 35 cents of ramen? To not qualify for most programs designed for poor people because you don't make enough money to meet the requirements? Do you know what it’s like to work for over 40 hours a week and to still barely make enough money for rent, nevermind electricity, internet, water, and food? What it's like to not be able to drive or to be able to afford an uber? Do you know what it's like to call the police on your own family? Do you know what it's like to walk in the snow with only a thin jacket and to be telling yourself that you don't have a choice, that you have to make it back home because you can't afford to annoy your family by dying in the snow? Because they can't afford, nevermind handle the funeral? To flinch at every sound, to recognize footsteps, and to be able to read microexpressions because reading the room means the difference between a warm hug and being treated like a punching bag? Do you seriously know??
