The UNREAL Candy “Try Before You Buy” giveaway is sponsored by UNREAL Candy, 252 Newbury Street, Floor 2, Boston, MA 02116 United States. The Giveaway is governed by these official rules. By participating in the Giveaway, each entrant agrees to abide by these Official Rules, including all eligibility requirements, and understands that the results of the Giveaway, as determined by Sponsor and its agents, are final in all respects. The Giveaway is subject to all federal, state and local laws and regulations and is void where prohibited by law.

This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook. Any questions, comments or complaints regarding the promotion should be directed to UNREAL Candy, not Facebook.

ELIGIBILITY: The Giveaway is open to legal residents of the fifty (50) United States and the District of Columbia, who are eighteen (18) years of age or older at the time of entry and who have Internet access. Employees, officers and directors of UNREAL and their respective parents, agents and suppliers, as well as members of their immediate families (defined as parents, spouses, children, siblings and grandparents) and individuals living in the same household as those individuals are not eligible to enter or win. Sponsor has the right to verify the eligibility of each entrant and disqualify those who don’t meet the eligibility requirements.

Entrants are allowed ONE entry per Giveaway period.

GIVEAWAY PERIOD: The Giveaway begins at 9 am EST on November 17, 2014 and ends at 11:59 pm EST on November 19th, 2014 (“Giveaway Period”). All entries must be received on or before 11:59 pm EST on November 19th to be eligible.

HOW TO ENTER: You may enter the Giveaway by commenting on UNREAL’s Facebook post, answering the question, “What PB cups are you most excited about?” This post will be published at 9 am EST on November 17, 2014. After commenting with an answer to UNREAL’s question, the entrant will receive one (1) entry into the Giveaway. Limit one entry per person during the Giveaway Period.

Additional Entry Conditions: Sponsor has no obligation to advise an entrant of an incomplete or otherwise non-compliant entry. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, invalid, unintelligible, incomplete, garbled, or misdirected entries, which will be disqualified. Sponsor reserves the right in its sole and unfettered discretion to disqualify any entry that it believes contains inappropriate content, that does not comply with these Official Rules, or that is not consistent with the spirit or theme of the Giveaway. No mailed, telephoned, faxed, or emailed entries will be accepted. Proof of submission of an entry will not be deemed proof of receipt. Receipt of entries will not be acknowledged nor will proof of submission of an entry be deemed proof of receipt. In the event of a dispute as to any entry, the authorized account holder of the Facebook account used to enter will be deemed to be the entrant. The “authorized account” holder is the natural person assigned the Facebook account. Potential winners may be required to show proof of being the authorized account holder. 

WINNER SELECTION: All eligible entries received during the Giveaway Period will be considered as long as they completed all requirements. Fifty (50) prize winners will be randomly selected in total during the Giveaway period from all eligible entries. The winners will be notified via reply to their comment on UNREAL’s Facebook post. Each entrant is responsible for monitoring his/her comment/UNREAL Facebook Page for prize notification or other communications related to this Giveaway. If a potential prize winner cannot be reached by Administrator within seventy two (72) hours via reply on entrant’s comment, that potential prize winner will be deemed to forfeit the prize, and UNREAL will select another winner.

PRIZES: The fifty (50) randomly selected winners will receive eight (8) count size UNREAL products. ALL FEDERAL, STATE AND LOCAL TAXES ASSOCIATED WITH THE RECEIPT OR USE OF ANY PRIZE ARE SOLELY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE WINNER.

ADDITIONAL LIMITATIONS: Prize is non-transferable. No substitution or cash equivalent of prizes is permitted; however, the Sponsor reserves the right to substitute any prize with another of equal or greater value. Sponsor and its respective parent, affiliate companies, agents, and representatives are not responsible for any typographical or other errors in the offer or administration of the Giveaway, including, but not limited to, errors in any printing or posting of these Official Rules, the selection and announcement of any winner, or the distribution of any prize. Any attempt to damage the content or operation of this Giveaway is unlawful and subject to possible legal action by Sponsor. We’ve got great news for our loyal UNREAL fans!

Our all-new, drool-worthy products have started to hit the shelves at stores across the country THIS WEEK! To start, you will be able to find us in Kroger stores, Ralphs, Dillons, Fred Meyer, and Smith’s locations.

We’ve got a new look that we think you’re going to love, and some brand new products available! Always 100% Real. And oozing with an Unreal taste! So, which products will you be able to get? Haaaaave…you met our Milk Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups with Crispy Quinoa, Dark Chocolate Coconut Peanut Butter Cups and Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter cups yet? 

We think you’ll agree that these new products – all non-GMO, gluten-free, kosher, with Fair Trade Certified Ingredients (and the dark chocolate cups are even vegan) – were worth the wait!

We’ll be announcing other new products, and the return of some of your favorites, very soon (we promise.) Right now, we’re hard at work building a “shop” option on our website so that all of our fans in the US will be able to order their favorite UNREAL candies for delivery straight to their doorsteps! Holiday Cleanse Guidelines from Chef Adam

Our own Chef Adam shared the details of his simplified, self-designed cleanse; OUT are alcohol, red meat, processed foods, added sugar, gluten, dairy, coffee, salt and fried foods. IN are lots of fruit and vegetables. Adam says that eating this way for 2-3 weeks resets his sensory receptors. What tips would you share?

Meet UNREAL, Meet Carmen F.

Some people are surprised to know that UNREAL is a small start-up company (with 12 of us in our Boston office!).  We want to open our doors to you, and share our UNREAL family with yours, and hope that you do the same.

Today we introduce you to Carmen F. from Winthrop, MA.  Carmen is our Financial Analyst and he’s got a BIG weekend ahead of him.  A longtime Longhorns fan since 1995, he’s heading to Austin for the big Oklahoma State vs. University of Texas football game!

Other items on the weekend’s agenda: Head to Sixth St., sample some of the local cuisine, and of course, keep Austin weird.

Recipe: Magic Bars from Jacki Mo of Just Add Cheese

Life is too short to pass on the indulgences, but sometimes, there isn’t a smart alternative out there for some of your junked up favorites.   So often that’s what we do – we pass, or we settle on something not-so-yum for our bodies.

 Have no fear!  Our friend Jacki Mo over at Just Add Cheese took an old-time favorite, the 7 layer bar, and created a special, unjunked recipe with the Loaded One!

 She’s graciously shared her recipe with us (and step-by-step pictures) for you to all enjoy!

Directions


Preheat oven to 350F.

Line 9″ x 13″ baking pan with parchment paper and spray generously with non-stick spray.

In mixing bowl, stir together graham cracker crumbs and melted butter to create crust. Press mixture into bottom of pan, and slightly up the sides.

Now time to layer! Add chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, butterscotch chips, chopped Loaded bars and peanuts before sprinkling with coconut.  Finish by drizzling with sweetened condensed milk.

Place in the oven and bake for 30 minutes or until center is set. Allow to cool completely and lift the bars out of the pan using the edges of the parchment paper.

UNREAL Movers & Shakers : Chloey Shriver

We at UNREAL are always on the lookout for Movers & Shakers.  The folks who are breaking industry norms, thinking outside of the box and making a BIG difference in the World we live in.  Today, we wanted to shine the spotlight on 10-year-old Chloey Shriver, CEO of Eco Lips. 

 Eco Lips is the first fully customizable lip balm that allows customers to hand select ingredients, the packaging, and even name their creation to share with others. To add the proverbial cherry-on-top: Eco Lips is made with organic ingredients!

And similar to UNREAL’s founding father-son duo (Nicky and Michael Bronner), Chloe is heading up the company with her father, and President, Steve Shriver.

Ingredient Spotlight: Chocolate/Cocoa Butter/Cacao

The milk chocolate in our candy is made from traceable beans sourced from Ghana and Ecuador. It is 42%-47% cacao (or cacao content, which includes the cacao liquor and cacao butter). 

The benefits of having a high percentage of cacao is that there is more of it, and thus less junk in its place. Also, the way our cacao has been fermented and roasted allows it to retain more Polyphenols, which have been found to have antioxidant properties.

Doing the right thing by people is just as important to us as unjunking your candy which is why we source our cacao beans from farms in Ghana and Ecuador that have been audited for human rights and best growing practices.

We are currently working on 3rd party certifications including a potential change to Fair Trade Cacao.

UNREAL – Boo at the Zoo and Zoo Howl

Even those who aren't in the candy world, are well aware that Halloween is rounding the corner!  And trick or treating is in full effect at local Boston Zoos! Partnering with Zoo New England we gave free samples to all attendees during 'Boo at the Zoo,' at Stoneham Zoo two weekends ago, and at 'Zoo Howl' at the Franklin Park Zoo this past weekend.

This Week at UNREAL

On Fridays we like to take a look back at the week and share some of the fun, special things that happened here in our office, around town or with our employees. 

@AdamChef went apple picking and brought in these delicious, fresh apples for the office!

 We sold our 100th order on Amazon!  As a small start-up, each order means so much to us… So, thanks!!  We also recently added a bulk option, and shipping is guaranteed for Halloween delivery if ordered by noon, October 29 (select 2 day shipping). Halloween is spooky enough, your candy shouldn’t be.

As a Boston-based company, this is a VERY exciting time for us in the sports world. Emily, our Marketing Manager, attended Game 1 of the World Series and said, “The energy in the stadium was out of control. No one was even wearing jackets because they were so jazzed up…even though it was 45* out.” #gosox
